[XENOPROFILE] Xenoprof passive profiling broken under cs 13062
Renato, If one creates an HVM domain (say domain 1) and then does echo 1 > /dev/oprofile/passive_domains one then gets the following on the Xen serial console: (XEN) xenoprof.c:143:d0 xenoprof/x86 with autotranslated mode enabledisn''t supported yet (XEN) xenoprof.c:143:d0 xenoprof/x86 with autotranslated mode enabledisn''t supported yet (XEN) xenoprof.c:143:d0

question about memory auto-translate and paravirtual and no pseudophysical overlay
hi I try to understand the code of xen memory there are gmfn, gpfn and pfn in the xen and in the /xen/include/xen/mm.h there are some explanation about them as follows: * 1. gpfn/gpaddr: A guest-specific pseudo-physical frame number or address. * 2. gmfn/gmaddr: A machine address from the p.o.v. of a particular guest. * 3. mfn/maddr: A real machine frame number or address. * 4.

Consult some concepts about shadow paging mechanism
Dear All: I am pretty new to xen-devel, please correct me in the following. Assume we have the following terms GPT: guest page table SPT: shadow page table (Question a) When guest OS is running, is it always using SPT for address translation? If it is the case, how does guest OS refer and modify its own GPT content? It seems that there is a page table entry in SPT for the GPT page. (Question

x86-64''s paging_init()
While adding code to create the compatibility p2m table mappings it seemed to me that the creation of the native ones is restricted to memory below the 512G boundary - otherwise, additional L2 tables would need to be allocated (currently other memory following the one L2 page getting allocated would be blindly overwritten). While I realize that machines this big aren''t likely to be

performance counters
In order to be meaningful and usable together with other measuring methods, their use in my opinion should impose as little overhead as possible. With that, I wonder why per-cpu counters use atomic operations. [patch/unstable] page table cleanups
Hi, In many places xen uses "unsigned long" instead of the l*_pgentry_t types to pass around page table entries. Here is a patch which fixes this in a number of places (mostly in shadow mode code). Thats what I''ve trapped in so far, maybe more of these patches follow. Fixing this is needed for adding PAE support to xen. In PAE paging mode the page table entries are 64 bit

Walking an HVM''s shadow page tables and other memory management questions.
Hello, I''m new to Xen and especially to the hypervisor code. I''m working off a 3.0.4.1 base and have the following questions regarding the memory management code for an x86, 32-bit platform (capable of supporting PAE). I''m doing some research into providing grant table hypercall support from a Windows 2003 HVM. I have made all the necessary changes to allow the

[PATCH V10 10/14] xen/pvh: specify xen features strings cleanly for PVH
From: Mukesh Rathor <mukesh.rathor@oracle.com> Use .ascii and .asciz to define xen feature string. Note, the PVH string must be in a single line (not multiple lines with \) to keep the assembler from putting null char after each string before \. Xen i386 paravirtualization support
Hi,Chris? I wonder which version of Xen did the para-Linux works with. I applied the patches, compiled them and tried them on both xen-3.0.2 and the latest xen-unstable. Both result in panics when booting Xen and complain as follows: (XEN) Domain 0 kernel supports features = { 00000005 }. (XEN) Domain 0 kernel requires features = { 00000005 }. (XEN) (XEN)

[PATCH] Support cross-bitness guest when core-dumping
This patch allows core-dumping to work on a cross-bit host/guest configuration, whereas previously that was not supported. It supports both PV and FV guests. The core file format generated by the host, needs to match that of the guest, so an alignment issue is addressed, along with the p2m frame list handling being done according to the guest size. Xen 4.0 - prerequisites for succesfull live migration?
Hi, I have three Xen hosts running Xen 4.0.2 (OpenSuSE 11.4 based). I also have one ''NFS'' server with an NFS export holding VM images and configuration files. Each host has a dedicated LAN link directly to the NFS server. I have another separated NFS export for VM locking (but I had the same issues before). When I attempt to live migrate a VM, it *looks''*like
