xenpaging fixes for kernel and hypervisor
Patrick, there following patches fix xenpaging for me. Granttable handling is incomplete. If a page is gone, a GNTST_eagain should be returned to the caller to inidcate the hypercall has to be retried after a while, until the page is available again. Please review. [PATCH] Persistent grant maps for xen blk drivers
This patch implements persistent grants for the xen-blk{front,back} mechanism. The effect of this change is to reduce the number of unmap operations performed, since they cause a (costly) TLB shootdown. This allows the I/O performance to scale better when a large number of VMs are performing I/O. Previously, the blkfront driver was supplied a bvec[] from the request queue. This was granted to

[PATCH V4 0/3] xen-blkfront/blkback discard support
Dear list, This is the V4 of the trim support for xen-blkfront/blkback, Now we move BLKIF_OP_TRIM to BLKIF_OP_DISCARD, and dropped all "trim" stuffs in the patches, and use "discard" instead. Also we updated the helpers of blkif_x86_{32|64}_request or we will meet problems using a non-native protocol. And this patch has been tested with both SSD and raw file, with SSD we will

[PATCH 0 of 7 v5] Introduce the tapback daemon (most of blkback in user-space)
This patch series introduces the tapback daemon, the user space daemon that acts as a device''s back-end, essentially most of blkback in user space. The daemon is responsible for coordinating the front-end and tapdisk. It creates tapdisk process as needed, instructs them to connect to/disconnect from the shared ring, and manages the state of the back-end. The shared ring between the

[PATCH] minios: Fix xenbus_rm() calls in frontend drivers
From: Ben Cressey <bcressey@amazon.com> The commit "minios: refactor xenbus state machine" caused "/state" to be appended to the local value of nodename. Previously the nodename variable pointed to dev->nodename. The xenbus_rm() calls were not updated to reflect this change, and refer to paths that do not exist. For example, shutdown_blkfront() for vbd 2049 would

[PATCH 0 of 2] Paging support updates for XCP dom0
This is a cherry pick of two patches that add support for guest paged out frames in the XCP 2.6.32 dom0 patch queue. First patch propagates the ENOENT returned by the hypervisor in the case of a paged out page, all the way up the call chain to the MMAPBATCH_V2 ioctl. The ioctl is mainly used to harvest those return values and retry. The second patch adds retry loops to all backend grant

Little help with blk ring
Hello List, I have a small problem with the ring when transferring blocks the id on the response is different from the request. This is the boot up read, count 0. The guest requests block 0, it has to be located at 7c00. I go ahead and create a REQUEST with this data: ring_req = RING_GET_REQUEST(priv,priv->req_prod_pvt); ring_req->id = 9; ring_req->nr_segments=1; ring_req->operation

[PATCH RFC 09/12] xen-blkback: move pending handles list from blkbk to pending_req

This patch contains fixes for persistent grants implementation v2: * handle == 0 is a valid handle, so initialize grants in blkback setting the handle to BLKBACK_INVALID_HANDLE instead of 0. Reported by Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk. * new_map is a boolean, use "true" or "false" instead of 1 and 0. Reported by Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk. * blkfront announces the

[GIT PULL] (xen) stable/for-jens-3.10
Hey Jens, Please in your spare time (if there is such a thing at a conference) pull this branch: git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/konrad/xen.git stable/for-jens-3.10 for your v3.10 branch. Sorry for being so late with this. <blurb> It has the ''feature-max-indirect-segments'' implemented in both backend and frontend. The current problem with the backend and

Concave Hull?
I am modeling a trend surface using trmat and want to trim the resulting matrix to the area enclosed by my real data (i.e., remove all the extrapolated areas). I was using chull and in.chull to calculate the convex hull and change all the other values created by trmat to NA. However, my real data has portions that are slightly concave so chull would give me slivers that are extrapolations from

[PATCH] blkback: Fix block I/O latency issue
In blkback driver, after I/O requests are submitted to Dom-0 block I/O subsystem, blkback goes to ''sleep'' effectively without letting blkfront know about it (req_event isn''t set appropriately). Hence blkfront doesn''t notify blkback when it submits a new I/O thus delaying the ''dispatch'' of the new I/O to Dom-0 block I/O subsystem. The new I/O is

[PATCH RFC] stubdom: Change vTPM shared page ABI
Since the vTPM implementations are being incorproated into Xen and possibly upstream Linux, I would like to see if this protocol change could be added before we have significant legacy implementations. If not, I still think it would be useful as either a v2 or negotiated protocol change. The current vTPM protocol is a copy of the network protocol. This was likely done for ease of implementation,

[RFC PATCH 00/35] Xen i386 paravirtualization support
Unlike full virtualization in which the virtual machine provides the same platform interface as running natively on the hardware, paravirtualization requires modification to the guest operating system to work with the platform interface provided by the hypervisor. Xen was designed with performance in mind. Calls to the hypervisor are minimized, batched if necessary, and non-critical codepaths
