ethool for e1000
I recently noticed that after starting xend ethtool no longer work for my e1000 card. In my 2.X box which is a P4, ethtool is working after xend start. Same version of e1000 on both boxes. The unstable box is a Tyan 2462 SMP, FC4 dom0 The 2.X box is Dell P330 UP, Centos 4.1 domO Until xend start ethtool is fine, in both setups I am using the e1000 as eth0. Regards, Ted

2.4.18 kernel) using 3 x 60GB WD 7200 IDE drives on a 7500-4 controller I could get peak I/O of 452 MBytes/sec, and a sustainable I/O rate of over 100 MBytes/sec. That is not exactly a 'dunno' performance situation. These tests were done using dbench and RAID5. Let's get that right: 100 MBytes/sec == 800 Mbits/sec, which is just a tad over 100 Mbits/sec (the bottleneck if you use

Tyan Thunder K8SE S2892 Report
I had my eye on the Tyan dual-Opteron mobos for awhile. I tried to find a posting *anywhere* sharing experiences with these boards under Linux. No such luck. So placing myself under the heading "Where Angles Fear to Tread," I went ahead and built a system anyway. Here's what I've learned. The specs: Tyan Thunder K8SE S2892, BIOS 1.01 2x Opteron 270, 2Ghz Dual-Core, retail

Xen / NUMA problems
Hi folks, we are using a Tyan TK8W 2885 Mainboard (latest BIOS) w/ 2 Dual Core Opteron 280EE and 8GB of RAM (4GB per Socket). Furthermore we run CentOS 5.1 w/ Xen 3.2.1. (build from SRPM). We also tried 3.2.0. I tried both, the CentOS 5.1 Xen Kernel as well as the latest RHEL 5.2 Kernel but we do not get two NUMA domains as we (in my opinion) are supposed to. Do we need to recompile anything?

xen_blk: can''t get major 8 with name sd
This happens randomly, more often than not the next xm create will succeed. Don''t think kernel config is related as I use almost identical setup on my UP machine, but I use the work around for dev designations on all the vm configs. With that setup I get 100% success on creation of domU''s with changeset: 7353:29db5bded574, this changeset would not boot dom0 on the SMP machine.

pagecache corruption on Tyan S3870
A couple of months ago I reported some problems with a batch of Tyan K8SSA (S3870) based machines. We are continuing to have an odd problem with these boxes, and if anyone has seen something similar elsewhere, I'd appreciate hearing about it. These boxes are running Centos 4.4 x86_64 with kernel 2.6.9-42.0.3.ELsmp. They are dual Opteron 265's (dual core) with 4x2GB DIMM's. The

Onboard RAID Tyan Transport GT24 (Thunder K8SRE s2891)
I've been checking out this and like the looks of it. http://www.tyan.com/products/html/gt24b2891.html I was told the onboard SATA RAID controller can only be used by windows. However, others have told me that there is no problem using it with linux. Anyone used the Tyan Transport GT24 (TYAN Thunder K8SRE s2891 motherboard)? Good choice for a CentOS server? Thanks, Josh

Tyan Thunder K8SE S2892 lm_sensors Config
Tyan has posted a lm_sensors config file for the Thunder K8SE S2892 at ftp://ftp.tyan.com/software/lms/lms_s2892.conf However when I ran the sensors command on my S2892 I was getting a readout for an adt7463 chip that wasn't referenced in the config file. I emailed Raphael Deng at Tyan asking him to confirm the manual edit needed to get sensors.conf to refer to the adt7463 chip. His

rebuilding kernel modules issues
I have a Tyan S3870 (K855A) motherboard which I would like to perform a burn in test with. lm_sensors needs a kernel module compiled to be support this motherboard's sensors. The instructions, for compiling the module, by tyan (ftp://ftp.tyan.com/software/lms/3870.sensors.conf) match closely with the instructions I found here (http://www.howtoforge.com/kernel_compilation_centos). [PATCH] add linux' arch/$ARCH/include to search path From: Marc Kleine-Budde <mkl@pengutronix.de> Date: Mon, 5 Jan 2009 17:46:47 +0100
with the recent move of the includes from linux' include/asm-$ARCH to arch/$ARCH/asm, klibc fails to compile, because the in-linux-header files include from asm/, but this is not in the header search path. e.g. against linux-2.6.27 arm: arm-iwmmx-linux-gnueabi-gcc -Wp,-MD,usr/klibc/.vsnprintf.o.d -nostdinc -iwithprefix include -Iusr/include/arch/arm -Iusr/include/bits32

Tyan K8SRE troubles with CentOS 4.4 i386
We have been seeing failures with CentOS 4.4 i386 (not x86_64) running compute-intensive programs on Tyan K8SRE (S2891) Tymotherboards, running Opteron 265's. This motherboard is used in the Tyan barebones box GT24 (B2881). We have these boards populated with 8GB of RAM, consisting of mixed 2GB and 1GB sticks. The symptom is that CPU-bound programs (may or may not be related to floating

Tyan K8HM and lm_sensors
I have a Tyan Thunder K8HM (S3892) motherboard and I am trying to get lm_sensors to work with it. The problem is that I am getting conflicting information. The source for lm_sensors says not to compile the modules for the 2.6 kernel. The information from Tyan says that I need to compile the modules if my kernel is less than 2.6.12. Has anyone here configured lm_sensors for this motherboard?

Good system board to use with TE410P?
Hi- I'm looking for an appropriate system board to power a system with two (2) Digium TE410P cards. Since these cards require the 3.3 volt PCI, I'm considering vendors like Tyan for the motherboard. Can anyone please tell me their experiences with the Tyan i7501 series (Xeon-basd), or recommend an alternate motherboard? Thanks Scott Scott M. Stingel Emerging Voice Technology Inc.

Tyan s4985 motherboard and lm_sensors
Trying to get cpu temps from lm_sensors for a Tyan s4985 motherboard, just installed centos 5.4. Tyan release some lm_sensors conf files and other information which I have done, but I am not getting any cpu temps. I was wondering if anyone out there was running this board and if you have gotten temps working for your cpu, here is my output...Thanks in advance. w83627hf-isa-0c00 Adapter: ISA

memdisk hangs
I use memdisk very successfully for a large number of tasks. Thanks for the great tool! However, there are a couple instances where memdisk-loaded applications hang. These are all BIOS upgrade floppy images. Some BIOS upgrade floppies do work. This has been a problem for quite a while, but unfortunately I have not been good at keeping records. Here is a sample of what I've found FAILS:
