search on multiple table
Hello,
I am trying to make a search, using acts_as_ferret on a
has_and_belongs_to_many relation :
class a < ActiveRecord::Base
belongs_to :b
has_and_belongs_to_many :c
Joboffer.find_by_contents( query +b_id:1 ) is working fine
but
Joboffer.find_by_contents( query +c:1 ) is not working
Here are the tables descriptions:
Table a have field : id, b_id

higlighting problem
Hi,
I''ve been having a problem getting highlighting to work with aaf.
I have a class defined as follows such:
class Link < ActiveRecord::Base
acts_as_ferret :fields => { :description => { :store => :yes } }
end
I get back the correct results when I do Link.find_by_contents, however,
I''d like to highlight them.
If I do something like iterate through the list of

using highlight from aaf
Hi,
I''m trying to use highlight ferret method with trunk aaf and 0.10.1
ferret.
In my search display I use:
Myindexedclass.ferret_index.searcher.highlight(@query, result_line.id,
:content)
* searcher is a protected method; how can I access to the searcher from
aaf ?
* is the doc id in aaf the same as my model id ?
* is the first param, query, the string query or the query object ?

highlighting with find_by_contents
I''m trying to highlight keyword snippets using the highlight method of
the results returned from find_by_contents (the actual models), but
always come up with an empty array. Any ideas what could be going wrong?

pagination in acts_as_ferret
I''m just wondering where I would put the pagination for search results
when using "acts_as_ferret".
At the moment my search code is..
def search
@query = params[:query] || ''''
unless @query.blank?
@results = Tutorial.find_by_contents @query
end
end

AAF Sorting by date - what am I doing wrong?
I''m trying to sort my search results by Date, in descending order. I''ve
done quite a bit of reading through the forums here, and I''ve tried two
different suggestions.
This just returns results in the same order as a search without a sort:
sort_fields = []
sort_fields <<
Ferret::Search::SortField.new("ferret_created_at",:reverse => :true)

using conditions
Hello guys,
I''m pretty new to using AAF and am having a slight problem with using a
condition. I have the following code
@results = SupplierProduct.find_by_contents(params[:search], :conditions
=> [''area_id = ?'', @area])
and it seems the condition isn''t being applied. Does anyone have any
pointers?
Cheers,
Alastair

Strange Sorting Issues
Hi there,
I''m having some strange sorting stuff goign on. Here''s my search method:
sort_fields = []
sort_fields << Ferret::Search::SortField.new("name",
:reverse => :false)
@results = Listing.find_by_contents @search_criteria, :limit => :all,
:sort => sort_fields
page = (params[:page] ||= 1).to_i
items_per_page = 9
offset = (page - 1) *

I''m hoping someone has encountered this before. I''m using AAF trunk and
trying to multi_search across 2 models. It works fine on my windows

acts_as_ferret : cannot use a customized Analyzer (as indicated in the AdvancedUsageNotes)
Hi all,
I cannot make aaf (rev. 220) use my custom analyzer, despite following the
indications @
http://projects.jkraemer.net/acts_as_ferret/wiki/AdvancedUsage
To pinpoint the problem, I created a model + a simple analyzer with 2 stop
words : "fax" and "gsm".
test 1 : model.rebuild_index + model.find_by_contents("fax") # fax is a
stop word.

missing terms in index causing search errors
I am unable to find results for models when one or more of the terms are
not being indexed.
Lets suppose I index a User on the phrase "Ruby on Rails." If I then
search using User.find_by_contents("Ruby on Rails") I get no results,
since "or" is a common term and does not get indexed. Of course,
User.find_by_contents("Ruby Rails") works just fine.

Can''t search fields with space
Hi,
I have a user model that has a city field which is searchable using
acts_as_ferret.
But I can''t get it to return any result whether I use
:city => {:store => :no, :index => :untokenized},
or
:city => {:store => :no} in my User model''s acts_as_ferret option
>>> User.find_by_contents("city:(cal poly)")

indexed ''text'' (not string) column not used when searching, unless explicitely specified!!
Hi all,
I''ve included a mysql ''text'' column in my index, and aaf/Ferret
doesn''t use it when I search, UNLESS I specify it as a restrictor, and
then it only searches in that field!
For example:
=> 0 results are returned by a standard (__all__ fields ?) search
>> Entity.find_by_contents "zixi"
Query: zixi
total hits: 0, results

Return only results that user is allowed to see?
Is it possible with acts_as_ferret to somehow restrict the results that
are returned?
For instance, I don''t want to return results that are logically deleted
with acts_as_paranoid (deleted_at IS NOT NULL and deleted_at < now()).
Also, if a user is not an Admin, they should not be able to return
results that have a certain value in a certain column, like forum_id !=

acts_as_ferret: can i specify a search on 1 field as suppose
to the ones i defined in my model? for example if in the model i specify
acts_as_ferret to index only column 1, 2, and 3 in my table....how can i
perform a search just for column 1 if need be.
for example, id like to give the user the ability to just search on
title name vs description, etc...
thanks!

Group by clause
Hi
Does acts_as_ferret support a :group clause?
For e.g any rails options like :select or :group etc? or is it that it
supports only few of such options?Like it supports :include
Thanks

More sorting problems with untokenized index
I''m having problems sorting on untokenized fields. I have one field that
sorts fine, but there are others that seem to sort on a different field.
Here''s the index description:
