vncviewer via gateway option question
the man page for vncviewer presents the -via gateway option to use ssh
through a gateway.
I understand if I want a secure vnc connection to server.foo.com I can
use the command:
vncviewer localhost -via server.foo.com
But I have moved my SSHD services from port 22 to port n. So according
to the man pages, I need an environment variable of VNC_VIA_CMD and
override the default command with:

using vino on centos 4
sorry i figured this out after deleting the other parts of the thread.
just run vino-preferences as the user who runs the main x display. it
will have various options to enable and as soon as you do that you can get
to hostname:0 via vnc. works quite well.

wine over ssh
Hi all,
I am running wine over ssh (with X forwarding) and I have a problem getting back into the shell after executing an app using wine.
Here's what I am doing:
ssh -X myhost 'wine notepad'
The concern is that I can get back to my shell only after I exit the notepad application. I tried appending an '&' at the end and that did'nt help.
Any help is appreciated.

Vncserver not serving up my gnome desktop, just a fancy terminal!
I have the vncserver running on CentOS 4, but when I log in
using vncviewer from another box, I don't see my gnome
desktop, just a fancy terminal. I suspect I need to edit
the ~/.vnc "xstartup file, but what do I add to fix this.
On all other distros I have tried, the vncserver serves up
my gnome desktop by default.

How do you send special keystrokes in vncviewer?
I need to send Shift-F10...
Searching the net showed nothing and realvnc's webpage yielded nothing either.
Thanks!

vncserver on IPv6
http://www.realvnc.com/products/enterprise/4.1/ipv6.html
IPv6 support in VNC Server E4.1.7/P4.1.2
VNC Server E4.1.7 & P4.1.2 are fully IPv6-aware, but is shipped with
IPv6 support disabled by default, for security reasons. IPv6 can be
enabled by setting "InTransports=IPv6,IPv4" (the default being IPv4
only), either on the command-line when starting vncserver under Unix
Ok.

[PATCH] vga shared memory
Hi all,
now that the qemu WMVi patch is applied we can take full advantage of it
sharing the video buffer between the vga driver and the qemu vnc server.
This saves a lot of memcpy.
It''s worth mentioning again that when the guest colour depth is 24 bit
we cannot share the buffer because 24 bpp is not supported by the vnc
protocol, so we still have to do the translation 24 bpp -> 32

getting opensolaris b85 domU to start
Folks:
I am unable to get my opensolaris sn-b85 domU to start up in an
opensolaris sn-b85 dom0. I am booted to xvm. Other systems, such as
Fedora 8, WinXP Pro, W2k3 server, W2k8 server and Windows Vista startup
normally.
I have used the following to build the domU:
# mkfile -n 25g /solhvm/solhvm.img
# ls -l /solhvm

[PATCH] Update new qemu-dm to spawn vncviewer
This patch does 3 things to the new device model, qemu-dm:
1) Add `vncviewer'' as an option to `qemu-dm'' to spawn a `vncviewer'' process.
2) Have the `vncviewer'' config parameter translate to the `vncviewer'' flag to
`qemu-dm''.
3) Add a new config parameter, `vncconnect'', that spawns a `vncviewer''
process that looks for a
