How to make a drop-down automatically submit an AJAX form
Hi,
I know that to make a dropdown box automatically submit when you change
the value, you do this:
<select ..... onchange="this.form.submit();">
BUT i''ve got an ajax form, and if i do the above trick, it simply
reloads the ajax partial into the whole screen, rather than into the div
where it is meant to go.
I''ve already got it all working so that if you click

Submitting an ajax form via a select
I''m trying to submit an ajax form via an onchange method in a select
menu, but I can''t seem to do it.
The problem holding me up, is that I can''t figure out how to set the
ID of the form when using a form_remote_tag (I need to use the ID of
the form as the forms on the page are variable, so I can''t reference
it in the form array). Setting :id =>

me out.
I have a page with a list of forms. I would like the user to be able to
submit each form individually, or submit them all at once, to a different
action (bascially, one that will do batch processing of all the forms).

how to do a simple update on the server from a change of a select box?
I have a list of items on a page. Each item has a select list. If
someone changes the select list I would like to update the appropriate
record on the server....nothing else. I suspect I am making this too
difficult.
I have an action on my controller for updating this value. I just
tried the ''remote_function'', ah, function. It invokes the action on
the controller but the the

Serve static XML files how?
Hi,
a Javascript in one of my Rails templates needs to load a static XML
file. I tried several places to put the actual XML file, and I also
tried to make the file a rails template (tried both .rhtml and .rxml)
and access it via a controller action. None of these ways worked. Does
the lighttpd server know how to serve XML files, or do I need to
configure it first? Or, is there a good workaround?

How to consume XMLRPC/SOAP web services in Rails?
Hi,
does anybody know of any good HowTo for consuming XML-RPC and/or SOAP
web services in Rails?
I found some for Ruby (via soap4r/xmlrpc4r), but I was wondering whether
there is something built into Rails already. So far it looks like there
are methods to create web services, but not to consume them.

form_remote_tag :onsubmit not working.
Hi,
Has anyone successfully implemented the :onsubmit option for
form_remote_tag. It doesn''t seem to work for me. Is there any specific
version of rails which is required for the same.
Here''s my piece of code.
<script>
function set_tojid(){
alert(''onsubmit'');
}
</script>
<%= form_remote_tag :update => '''', :url => {

Problem preventing double click with ajax submit button
For a regular form I use the :onlick option to disable the submit button
after the first click in order to prevent double clicks (leading to
double entries):
<% form_tag :action => ''create'' do %>
<%= submit_tag "Create", :onclick =>
"this.disabled=true,this.form.submit();"%>

form_remote_tag is not passing form params
I''ve searched and searched and searched again, and I cannot find any
help with this problem. There''s an identical problem on this forum, but
it was never resolved. I''ll try to re-open the subject with a bit more
information.
Problem: The form_remote_tag() method in my "list" view is not passing
the params[] hash of the values stored within my form.

syntax for specifying :html fallback on form_remote_tag
Has anyone gotten the :html option for specifying a ''fallback'' action if javascript''s not enabled working on form_remote_tag (or remote_form_for)? I can''t figure out how to specify the action that''s supposed to be invoked if js _is_ enabled.
Or maybe I''m just misunderstanding how this thing is supposed to work. I was assuming

form_remote_tag : additional onsubmit funct. possible ?
Is there a way to add onsubmit functionality to a form_remote_tag with
an additional javascript directive?
eg I''d like for an inline javascript to make the form''s div container
hidden as soon as the button is pressed to avoid having it possibly get
pressed again ( sometimes the rails response is slow enough for a user
to think they need to re-press it ).

React on select_tag (onchange)
Hi,
I''m new in developint rails (but I love rails).
I would like to react on changing a field in the view (no model field)
from a selection box to show the number of rows (which I used in the
controller).
In the controller I read the params-hash:
...
@rowsperpage = params[''rowsperpage''].to_i
...
In the view I have the field, where I like to react directly.

AJAX to submit form, but reload the whole page
I''m using ROR 1.0 and the included prototype.js to do some AJAX stuff.
I''m using the form_remote_tag to submit a login form using AJAX.
So, any error/failed login will be displayed using AJAX. But, for
successful login, I would want it to reload the wholepage, not just
update the <DIV>.
How can I achieve this?

Find records based on associated table''s colums
Hello,
Let''s say I have a model for a "house". Each house has_a "city", which
in turn has_a "state" which in turn has_a "country". The objective is to
retrieve all houses in a given state, say "Massachusetts".
Being new to Ruby on Rails what I like is that things that should be
simple usually are simple, and since we have easy access to
