partials and rjs
I must have a misunderstanding of partials, maybe one of you can help me
out. I have a page that initially displayed via the following:
<-- in controller -->
def find_areas_for_country
@country_areas = CountryArea.find(:all, :conditions => ["country_id
= :country", params], :order => "descr asc")
render :partial => ''country_area''

RJS behave differently than render :partial?
I have a method in my controller like the following (the syntax may not
be correct, I''m doing this from memory - you should be able to get the
idea though) My rhtml page has a DIV with id="country_areas", which
contains a partial that only makes a drop down of country areas for a
specific country. When changing the country in the country drop down, it
uses the

I am using this in my controller to reload the country_area partial in
my form
def add_country_area

page[:country_area].reload
end
end

<span id="country_area">
<%= render :partial => ''country_area'' %>
</span>
<< partial _country_area.rhtml >>

to modify a vector
Hi All.
I am quite a newbie to R.
This is a basic question.
I like to modify elements of a vector.
For Example:
a1 <- c(1,2,3,4,3,5)
TThe following program sentence does not work but the intention is;
if (a1==3) a1*3 .
3 in the vector should be changed to 9, and
the resulted vector is (1,2,9,4,9,5).
How can I get the result?
Thanks in advance for help.

Dynamic Programming in R
Hi R users,
I am looking to numerically solve a dynamic program in the R environment. I was wondering if there were people out there who had expereinced success at using R for such applications. I'd rather continue in R than learn Mathlab.
A concern that has been cited that may discourage R use for solving dynamic programs is its memory handling abilities. A senior researcher had a lot of

Time Drop Downs
I''d like to create a dropdown for setting an attribute that is a time
type with an hour/minute/(am/pm) format (i.e. client does not want
military time). Is there already a library in Rails which does this
(I couldn''t find it)? And if not, has anybody done this already and
can point me in the right direction?

Chromebook AD integration fails on joining the domain
Hi,
I am testing Google's recent ability to integrate Chromebooks into AD and
it's failing when I try to join the device to the domain. When I run
wireshark during the test I notice 2 TGS-REQs from the device that are
answered with KRB5KDC_ERR_ETYPE_NOSUPP. The Chromebook is only passing
AES256-cts-hmac-sha1-96 and AES128-cts-hmac-sha1-96 as enc types. I was
getting the same result from

Beta stochastic simulation
Hi,
I am finding that I get quite different results when I interchange the
following "equivalent" lines for sampling from a beta distribution in my
r script. The rbeta line is correct judging by the summary statistics of
the simulated values, while the qbeta line consistently leads to a
higher mean simulated value.
simulation <- rbeta(1, alpha, beta)
simulation <- qbeta(runif(1),

dynamic drop downs for product search
Hey Everyone,
I''m about to embark on having a search function for the products on my
app via dynamic dropdowns. A dropdown for make would only leave
AVAILABLE models of that make. selecting year would only leave
available makes from that year etc etc.
Any suggestions or good read ups ?

grep and gsub on backslash and quotes
The following code works, to gsub single quotes to double quotes:
line <- gsub("'", '"', line)
(that's a single quote within doubles then a double within singles if
your
viewer's font is not good).
But The R Language Manual tells me that
Quotes and other special characters within strings
are specified using escape sequences:

ftrace_enabled set to 1 on bootup, slow downs with CONFIG_FUNCTION_TRACER in virt environments?
Hey,
I was running some benchmarks (netserver/netperf) where the init script just launched
the netserver and nothing else and was concerned to see the performance not up to par.
This was an HVM guest running with PV drivers.
If I compile the kernel without CONFIG_FUNCTION_TRACER it is much better - but it was
my understanding that the tracing code does not impact the machine unless it is

Jpeg and pixel
Hi guys,
I've got tthe following question:
Why do my fonts look a bit grubby when I use the jpeg() function? I see
the pixels of the font. The quality is set to 100%.
If this is normal with jpeg(), which function would you propose me to
use instead?
Kind regards,
Thomas

I have a CyberPower PR3000LCDRTXL2U with a BP48V75ART2U expansion

UPS appears to be telling me that the batteries need replacement due to
age. CyberPower support has confirmed that for me and told me how i
should be able to mute the alarm from the front panel until I can
replace the batteries, but it doesn't appear

Dynamic drop-downs in a form_for using AJAX remote_function - Help
Hello -
I am fairly new to Ruby on Rails, but feel like I am learning quick.
I have what seems to be a fairly unique issue as I cannot find much
out there that describes what I''m seeing. Hopefully it''s a very
simple fix, and I simply can''t see the forest through all the trees!
I am attempting to create 2 related drop-down lists in the same
