LibVirt + QEMU & no-shutdown
I am currently running LibVirt with Qemu on Debian Wheezy:
Versions:
- libvirtd (libvirt) 1.2.4
- qemu-x86_64 version 2.0.0 (Debian 2.0.0+dfsg-4~bpo70+1), Copyright (c)
2003-2008 Fabrice Bellard
It's all working perfectly, including ACPI: virsh shutdown guest. However
when I issue "halt" from the guest, the guest stops but libvirt thinks it
is still running: (virsh list

Qemu-1.4.0-2 and Qemu-1.4.0-1 is broken on virt-preview and rawhide
All,
Our testing seems to indicate that Qemu-1.4.0-2 and Qemu-1.4.0-1 is
broken on virt-preview and rawhide.
I'm getting undefined symbol: usbredirparser_send_start_bulk_receiving
when running qemu-system-x86_64 -version..
Do others see this issue? Is there a known solution?

QEMU virtualization and segment RPL
Hi,
As something like VMI is expected to be supported soon by QEMU, I have a
small question: does the virtualization API you are defining supports
that the guest kernel code can be executed in ring 3 ?
In QEMU for example, the guest kernel code can be executed either by the
dynamic translator (in this case CS.rpl = 0 and SS.rpl = 0) or by the
kqemu kernel module (in this case CS.rpl = 3 and

Problems using latest qemu-kvm and latest libvirt ( hvm missing )
Hi all
I have faced this issue already and the solution was to go back to a
old version of qemu-kvm and/or libvirt and things start falling into
place but this time I would want to solve this.
I have used these versions as per the o/p of the commands below. To
jumpstart a new machine which is libvirt capable, it always is a hastle
to find out which of the version combination of

Processor usage of qemu process.
I have been using libvirt for a while now with some linux guest installed. And everything has been working great.
I've got a nice new (used) HP virtual host with 12 x dual core and 48Gb mem. My Windows servers are getting old, so I found it was time to take the next step and also virtualise my Windows systems.
Now I've got two Windows guests on my new host:

Problem with allocation of big files
Hello,
I found a strange problem with allocationg big files on drive.
For example in guestfish I allocate large disk image
for example:
$ guestfish
><fs> allocate test.img 20G
When an image allocating, there is a big slowdown of guest OSes,
launched on host machine, and on different drives.
For Linux guests with virtio drivers, there is no so big performance
penalty, but for FreeBSD

[LLVMdev] ffmpeg on fedora core 8
hello mailinglist,
i currently try to compile ffmpeg on a 64bit fedora-core 8 machine using
llvm2.3.
the "good" things first:
everything works fine on a 32bit ubuntu-machine using llvm-2.3 (actually i
do not know if that is grace to ubuntu or grace to 32bit)
when using the normal gcc on the 64bit fc8 machine, everything works too.
now the "bad" thing: it does not work on fc8
