Machine Check Exceptions support in Xen
Hi Folks, I see that currently Xen doesn''t export the machine check exceptions to dom0. Is there any plans to export this information to Dom0 (so that it can be read by utilities like mcelog) or is there already some ongoing work on this? Thanks, Sanjay -- ---------------------- PhD Candidate, Georgia Tech http://www.cc.gatech.edu/~ksanjay/

reading time value in dom0 and domU kernels
Hi Folks, I want to calculate latency in transferring a buffer from domU kernel to dom0 kernel and vice versa. for that I need a time ''flavour'' (cycle counter time?) which reads the same in dom0 and domU. Could someone please let me know if cycle counter time is the right time to use? if not then which one (system time or wall clock time)? Also could someone please tell me how to

gpa to hpa conversion for VT domains
Hi Folks, I want to do the guest physical address (GPA) to host physical address (HPA) conversion for a VT domain in the VT domains itself. So essentially I would like to access the phys_to_machine_mapping table in the V domain. does a VT domain already have access to this table? if not, how can I do this address conversion inside the VT domain? Thanks, Sanjay -- ---------------------- PhD

Problem booting Suse Linux VM "INIT: cannot execute "/etc/init.d/boot""
Hi Folks, I create a file backed vbd to boot a guest VM as described in the Xen''s user manual in section ''Using File-backed VBDs". The Dom0 and the VBD contain Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10 (X86_64). I am not able to boot the guest VM. During the boot process the INIT process generates an error saying <snip> Loading jbd Loading ext3 Waiting for device /dev/sda1 to

get quota command
I'm running samba 3.0.13 on a debian box, sharing out NFS filesystems from a solaris box. I know, bad idea.. file locking, etc... non-issues at the moment. I've discovered that if I make a share from a local filesystem, the PC's mounting the share see their quota (hard limit, not soft which is another matter) as their capacity and their appropriate free space... this is good.

Need help installing samba
Hi, I've got a strange problem.. I've installed samba on a Sun machine running Solaris 2.5.1. Everything seems to work well, up until I try to mount my home directory from a Win95 PC. I've gone through the DIAGNOSIS.txt file, and everything up to and including stop 7 (smbclient '\\BIGSERVER\TMP') works great... so from what I can tell, its working. However, when I attempt

Place a string into the header/footer of a pdf file generated during a plot session
Dear useRs, Do you know, by any chance, if it is possible to write a string in the header/footer of a pdf file created during a plot session? To make sure that I know what R script generated a certain chart, I would like to add the path to the working directory into the header/footer of the corresponding pdf file. Thank you. Insert raster image into an R graphic
Dear useRs: Is there a way to include a raster image (e.g., .gif, .jpg, .bmp) representing a company logo, a school logo, etc. into an R graphic? For example, it would be nice to be able to include the logo of the school into the charts that a student produces for her dissertation. Similarly, while working on a competitive analysis, it would be nice to be able to replace the names of the

Possible bug involving LDA and Namespaces
Hi All, Yesterday I began experimenting with using LDA to do delivery. To begin with I'm using a .forward file entry for myself so as to avoid affecting other users. When "deliver" is passed an item to deliver, the following is logged: > deliver(allen): Sep 18 19:28:52 Info: Namespace: type=private, > prefix=INBOX., sep=., inbox=yes, hidden=no, list=yes, subscriptions=yes

Exception Handling
Dear useRs: Please provide me with your thoughts on an issue related to the design of a production level system. For example, let?s suppose that I need to run the same R script for a finite sequence of items (e.g., in the energy industry, I may need to asses the profitability of all gas stations in the state of Florida). For each of the items, the R script accesses some remote databases, gets

Query an Access database based on a date attribute
Dear useRs, I would like to query an Access database through R based on a date attribute but, unfortunately, I fail to do so. For example, the table test_table of the test.mdb looks like: ID cd market competitor dd price 1 1 2007-11-20 atl-bos delta 2007-11-20 210 2 2 2007-11-20 atl-bos delta 2007-11-21 190 3 3 2007-11-20 atl-bos delta 2007-11-22

timeout problems with 2.2.8a
Last year the samba servers for our Georgia Tech computer clusters were crashing about once a day running samba 2.0.7. Upgrading to 2.2.5 was disastrous - the Windows machines in the cluster started giving chronic bad-password errors. Since daily crashes seemed an easier problem to fix, we dug in and fixed the 2.0.9 source code. (Our patch is attached, for those interested in running 2.0.9

Dovecot performance on GFS clustered filesystem
Hello All, We are using Dovecot 1.1.3 to serve IMAP on a pair of clustered Postfix servers which share a fiber array via the GFS clustered filesystem. This all works very well for the most part, with the exception that certain operations are so inefficient on GFS that they generate significant I/O load and hurt performance. We are using the Maildir format on disk. We're also using

Replacement brackets for Supermicro UIO SAS cards....
I just wanted to share this useful info as I haven''t seen it anywhere. My scrounging-genius colleague, Lawrence, found standard PCI-e replacement brackets for the justifiably popular Supermicro AOC-USAS-L8i cards. They cost a few bucks each, fit perfectly and allow us to use these cards extensively without any case-hackery.

[LLVMdev] Move instruction
Hi Eli, I want to do redundant load elimination. A simple example for that would be load (a1) , r1; --- --- --- load (a2) , r2; Now if a1 and a2 are alias of each other and the value stored in a1 and a2 remains the same then I can say that the second load is redundant. I can replace the second load with these instructions mov r0 r1; mov r0 r2; and remove the load instruction. This is the thing

v2 connection logging vs v1
When connecting with v1, the server logs a message when I exit my login shell: Closing connection to 130.207.167.32 However, when connecting with v2, it only ever logs: Connection closed by remote host. Tracing through the code, it appears that instead of breaking in serverloop.c:server_loop2() at: if (had_channel && !channel_still_open()) {
