[PATCH] disable writable pagetables on FreeBSD
Presumably as a result of recent changes, FreeBSD no longer works with writable page tables. In the short-term I''m more interested in functionality than performance. This patch disables them and fixes a compile issue. # This is a BitKeeper generated diff -Nru style patch. # # ChangeSet # 2005/04/29 19:26:00-07:00 kmacy@curly.lab.netapp.com # disable writable pagetables + compile

OpenBSD IPv6 remote kernel buffer overflow. FreeBSD has this too?
Good day. Just spotted the new advisory from CORE: http://www.securityfocus.com/archive/1/462728/30/0/threaded Not an expert, but FreeBSD's src/sys/kern/uipc_mbuf2.c has the very simular code. Robert, anyone, could you please check? Thank you. -- Eygene

Bug#393953: xen-3.0: DomU sometimes crashes while booting
Package: xen-3.0 Severity: important While booting the DomU, it sometimes crashes, especially if the vif-device is not up yet. I managed to get the console output (xm console test), which I'll attach to this bug report. It seems it is some kernel bug, but I'm not sure. If you need more information, please tell me how to get it, and I will try to post it. -- System Information: Debian

network_alloc_rx_buffers panic
Some users are hitting this panic in network_alloc_rx_buffers() when running a big network intensive app: /* Check return status of HYPERVISOR_dom_mem_op(). */ if ( rx_mcl[nr_pfns].args[5] != nr_pfns ) panic("Unable to reduce memory reservation\n"); I''m not clear on what is happening here. Are the domains changing size? Which memory reservation is being

Packet flow through IPFW+IPF+IPNAT ?
Hi. On my FreeBSD 4.8 configured IPFW2+IPF+IPNAT and I use them all: - IPFW - traffic accounting, shaping, balancing and filtering; - IPFilter - policy routing; - IPNAT - masquerading. I want to know, how IP-packets flow through all of this components? What's the path? incoming: IPFW Layer2 -> IPFW&Dummynet -> IPNAT -> IPFilter ? outgoing: IPFW Layer2 ->

[patch] Raw sockets in jails
Although RAW sockets can be used when specifying the source address of packets (defeating one of the aspects of the jail) some people may find it usefull to use utilities like ping(8) or traceroute(8) from inside jails. Enclosed is a patch I have written which gives you the option of allowing prison-root to create raw sockets inside the prison, so

Resetting network device / skb leak
hi, I seem to have a problem with the Linux xen-network driver leaking skbs. This is probably my own fault, upon resumption after migration I call this: void network_resume(void) { struct net_device* dev = __dev_get_by_name("eth0"); MOD_DEC_USE_COUNT; network_open(dev); } -- which works fine. However, in network_open() the call to NETOP_RESET_RINGS seems to clear all the

Debugging a XenU that goes to Zombie state
Once last night and the night before a XenU go into a Zombie state, requiring a reboot. I''m not quite sure what is happening, and am looking for advise on how to diagnose the problem. .. While writing this email, it crashed again. This time I had an ''xm console calcutta'' capturing the output. I read a suggestion in these archives suggesting that I can just

[PATCH 00/25] xen: Xen implementation for paravirt_ops
Hi Andi, This series of patches implements the Xen paravirt-ops interface. It applies to 2.6.21-rc7 + your patches + the last batch of pv_ops patches I posted. This patch generally restricts itself to Xen-specific parts of the tree, though it does make a few small changes elsewhere. These patches include: - some helper routines for allocating address space and walking pagetables - Xen

[patch 00/24] Xen-paravirt_ops: Xen guest implementation for paravirt_ops interface
Hi Andi, This patch series implements the Linux Xen guest as a paravirt_ops backend. The features in implemented this patch series are: * domU only * UP only (most code is SMP-safe, but there's no way to create a new vcpu) * writable pagetables, with late pinning/early unpinning (no shadow pagetable support) * supports both PAE and non-PAE modes * xen hvc console (console=hvc0) *
