[PATCH] virtio_net: Add schedule check to napi_enable call
From: "Bruce Rogers" <brogers at novell.com> Under harsh testing conditions, including low memory, the guest would stop receiving packets. With this patch applied we no longer see any problems in the driver while performing these tests for extended periods of time. Make sure napi is scheduled subsequent to each napi_enable. [PATCH 0/3][STABLE] KVM: Various issues in virtio_net
These are patches which we have found useful for our 2.6.32 based SLES 11 SP1 release. The first patch is already upstream, but should be included in 2.6.32 stable tree. The second patch is a subset of another upstream patch. Again, stable material, applicable to 2.6.32 and 2.6.33. The third patch solves the last remaining issue we saw when testing kvm configurations with the SUSE

[PATCH] Fix performance problems with mprotect()
While working on a database scaling problem using a SAP database test suite we discovered that these enterprise level large shared memory databases are very heavy users of mprotect(), to the extent that the performance overhead in current Xenolinux impacts scaling beyond a few cpus quite badly. A single cpu run under Xen has a nominal impact, but scaling out to 8 cpus results in a performance of

[RESEND][PATCH] Fix loading binary images that support or require PAE
(Pardon the resend - I was playing with whether i should use a 2 or 3 bit field and left the shift amount 1 off) Loading of binary images which include a quasi-Multi-boot Spec record is supported by Xen, but currently there not a way to inform the loader of the PAE requirements/capabilities of the loading image. This patch extends the flags used in the quasi-Multi-boot Spec record to this

[PATCH] Fix EDD pointer in int 13h, fn 48h BIOS call return buffer
I ran into this when I was reviewing what was outstanding to get NetWare to run fully virtualized. The BIOS emulator code has the segment and offset backward in the returned buffer for the int 13h, fn 48h BIOS call. BTW: This is fixed in current Bochs emulator upstream code. blkback does not copy full id from request to response
I just noticed that the linux block backend does not copy the full 64 bits of the id field of a request to the associated response. The blkif.h states that this is echoed in the response. An unsigned long in make_response is used as an intermediary. This would sure be helpful to me if the full 64 bits were echoed. - Bruce Rogers _______________________________________________ Xen-devel

repost - Can one edit the file that generates the scaffolding.css?
I am reposting this because not only am I VERY interested in the answer but because I think it would also be useful to many, many people. We kind of have a house-style here, so it would be nice if the generated scaffold.css would accommodate that. My questions are? Is it possible? Is it safe? How? bruce

Wine for next computing era
Reading the most recent news, we can see that the time has come to break the WinIntel monopoly on the world. Many devices are emerging, many architectures are being developed. The opensource community is getting great visibility. We should start thinking in bringing wine to this new scenario that is approaching. Many surprises are coming for the years to come. Why not we bring wine to devices such

Coordinate systems on on nv10-era cards
So I did a lot more debugging on this. I wrote a program that draws a triangle to an fbo, and then blits that to fb 0. If I draw the triangle with glBegin(GL_TRIANGLES); glColor3f(1, 0, 0); glVertex3f(-0.6*128 + 128, -0.75*128 + 128, 0.5); glColor3f(0, 1, 0); glVertex3f(0.6*128 + 128, -0.75*128 + 128, 0); glColor3f(0, 0, 1); glVertex3f(128, 0.75*128 + 128, 0); glEnd(); Then all

A new era in Radio! Don't miss The Experimental Beat! (fwd)
Hello, Excuse the blatent self-promotion and certain degree of off-topicness, but I thought people here might find this of interest. We just recorded a radio show using Fideliphone (www.fideliphone.com) which uses CELT. Not sure exactly which version but the most recent release of Fideliphone was in May so it's probably not the most recent version. Anyway it performed beautifully! I

Tecnoware ERA LCD (UPSilon 2000) communication problem
Hi to everyone! I'm posting here after digging around the nut-upsuser and nut-upsdev mailing list, hoping I didn't miss something important. I'm trying to make my ups working with nut: it's a Tecnoware ERA LCD 0.85 which uses the so-hated UPSilon 2000 software to connect via usb. Personally I checked and seems that this junk software only works from windows, I'm trying to
