Getting "ArgumentError ( isn''t a valid directory argument.
I''m hoping someone has encountered this before. I''m using AAF trunk and trying to multi_search across 2 models. It works fine on my windows (Webricks) dev env but now that i''ve deployed to linux, (Apache, FastCGI) I''m getting the following error: ArgumentError ( isn''t a valid directory argument. You should use either a String or a Directory):

rebuild_index is returning {}
Previously when I used to build index i used to get false in return. >> Event.rebuild_index => false Now I get this. >> Event.rebuild_index => {} Following changes took place. 1) I moved my app from FCGI to mongrel. 2) I moved my app to capistrano. return ONLY total_hits without querying from real database
Hey guys, I know I can run search(q).total_hits, but if I try to put :limit=>0 it gives me an error. I don''t want it actually query any of the results, I just want it to tell me how many total_hits I would have if I wanted to search it. How can I do this? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

[ActsAsFerret] OpenSolaris (TextDrive) indexing issues
Gents, I successfully installed AAF on my TextDrive OpenSolaris Container, but I''m having some issues with indexing. I have a model called Blogs which has AAF enabled. The first time I tried to find_by_contents for a ''word'' I know was on the Database I got now results. Apparently the index was not ready yet. Then I waited a few hours and checked that the /index

prevent index auto update
Hi, I have a has_many association between Book and Page. I have acts_as_ferret running on only the Book model. However, when I update the a page, it calls the auto update index on the Book model as well just in case any of the ferret fields were changed. How can I stop acts_as_ferret from auto updating the index on its own, especially when nothing changes? -- Posted via

acts_as_ferret : cannot use a customized Analyzer (as indicated in the AdvancedUsageNotes)
Hi all, I cannot make aaf (rev. 220) use my custom analyzer, despite following the indications @ http://projects.jkraemer.net/acts_as_ferret/wiki/AdvancedUsage To pinpoint the problem, I created a model + a simple analyzer with 2 stop words : "fax" and "gsm". test 1 : model.rebuild_index + model.find_by_contents("fax") # fax is a stop word. => I get a

Typo and acts_as_ferret rebuild_index errror
Hi, I''m running the edge Typo and the latest acts_as_ferret plugin and ferret gems (as of 11 April). In my Content model I put acts_as_ferret :fields => [:title, :body] In the console, I call Content.rebuild_index to index all of my existing content. All the directories get created etc, but I get the following error back: Loading development environment. >>

Hi, So i''m trying to use acts_as_taggable with the acts_as_ferret plugin, where I have Post.rb model, which has a method tag_list made available through acts_as_taggable, as returns a string of associated tag words from the tags table (tag.rb). Ferret/acts_as_ferret don''t seem to be doing anything
I''m having an odd problem with Ferret 0.9.5 and acts_as_ferret 0.2.3, on RedHat Linux Enterprise 4. All of my find_by_contents calls return 0 results. When I try Foo.rebuild_index via the console, it returns nil. This is happening on my production machine, during deployment of my app. Everything works perfectly on my development machine (Windows). I have no idea where to start

seg faults and problems with new version
Hi all, first off, it''s 2AM and I''m not thinking properly, so please forgive me if this one''s easy, but I just need to get this going. First problem, using 0.9.6 on all of our development machines, works great, then we move it to a server running x86_64 linux and it segfaults as soon as it tries to create an Index. I''ve tried rebuilding with different

MySQL has gone away
Hi, in a production environment we are running into "MySQL server has gone away" errors (see below) when we call rebuild_index in aaf. This happens sporadically. Any suggestions for what might be wrong or workarounds? I guess we try a reconnect before we call rebuild_index? Thinking of using aaf- looking for advice
Hi- I''m technical lead at Lingr (http://www.lingr.com), a chatroom-based social networking site. We''ve currently got several million user utterances stored in MySQL, and we''re looking to build a local search functionality. I''ve played around with aaf and I really like it, but I have some questions. 1. Is anyone out there using aaf to index a corpus of this

disabling automatic indexing in acts_as_ferret
I''d like to be able to enable/disable the automatic indexing of documents acts_as_ferret does. Something like MyModel.disable_indexing MyModel.enable_indexing would be perfect. I need this because I do some indexing that requires visiting the parents of the model objects and my import method imports the children first, so the information isn''t there yet. I''d like to

Many index files
I''m using acts_as_ferret and have indexed a model with acts_as_ferret :fields => [:name, :ascii_name, :alt_names], :single_index => true. Now in the index directory more than 95.000 files are generated! The number of tuples I''m indexing is approx. 86.000. I can''t remember this from earlier ferret/acts_as_ferret versions where I''ve indexed millions of

calling destory on HABTM clear
I know this is probably stupidly simple, but I can''t seem to figure it out. I have a many-to-many association using HABTM. Im trying to clear all the stuff in the join table and call destroy on all the joined items. For example if I have a many to many for albums and photos, def method album=Album.find(4) album.photos.clear # NOW HOW DO I DESTROY ALL THOSE PHOTOS? end The things I
