fixrbconfig - does it work on intel macs?
I''m trying now to do "sudo fixrbconfig" in the terminal, and I get this: /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/powerpc-darwin8.0/ruby.h does not exist. This probably means you haven''t yet installed Xcode from the Tiger DVD. You won''t be able to compile Ruby extensions without it. Please install it then rerun this program. I''m on an intel mac. I''m not sure what to do with this, since request.params actually works with rails. Any idea? Thank you Olivier Dupuis -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Links on the left hand side - are components necessary?
Hello, Maybe this is super-trivial... I need to have a list of links on the left hand side of my application, for *every* single page. So, I''ve created a layout called "main" (main.rhtml) under view/layouts, and included >layout "main"< in pretty all of my controllers. main.rhtml has, amongst all the other HTML stuff: <%= render_component

calling a controller/action from another controller
Hi, Is there a way to call a controller/action pair from another controller as well as render the view for that pair? I have tried using "render ''ctrl/action''" and that works, but the controller code isn''t called (only the view is rendered). A redirect_to isn''t desirable either as I want the resulting content to be rendered in the current

yet another rails site - happycarpools.com
I''m pretty much done with a project I''ve been developing to learn Rails, http://www.happycarpools.com . If you could take a look, that''d be awesome! Feedback would be even more awesome! Probably the coolest thing about making this has been seeing how Rails does *so much* and hardly has any superfluous parts, if any. There are so many features that I initially

R 1.9.1 Fails to Start on WinXP SP2
I have two computers both of which are running Windows XP SP2. R 1.9.1 runs just fine on one but not the other. Both installations of R came from the same installation package. When I click on the desktop icon an hourglass shows up then disappears. Similarly, if I start RGUI the process shows up in task-manager then abruptly disappears. Interestingly, I can access R in Excel via the D(COM) Server

Render partial questions
Hello, what is the preferred way to do this... I have 2 controllers. Each has an index action. Now I want to include the rendered index view from TwoController in the index view of OneController. But a render :partial doesn''t execute the TwoController index action which sets variables for its index view. So maybe you can give me a short example how to do it. Thank you Markus

Passing params to a component
I see from http://rubyonrails.org/api/classes/ActionController/Components.html that is possible to pass paramaters to a component. I don''t understand the exact syntax.
