RoR + oracle + bind vars
Hi, I have a question about bundle: RoR + oracle + bind variables. Heaving read forums/blogs/etc I found out RoR does not use bind vars for oracle particularly (and for all adapters in general). Then I found Michael''s patch (http://dev.rubyonrails.org/attachment/ticket/5199/oracle_bind.patch) but it was not added to the following RoR versions (since the end of May). As I suppose it was

Legacy database Oracle
I am new to RoR, but totally sold to the concepts, so I have decided to use RoR to develop a web client to our Oracle-based software that our customers today use with a Windows client. At first we will develope simple things like registering to receive email newsletters, and registering/updating your name, address and telephone etc. Eventually we hope to do a more full-bodied web-side client.

Although an expert developer for IBM systems (iSeries) I am VERY new to RoR and somehow to the PC development world as well and not familiar AT ALL with PC configurations, etc. (in my regular job good ol'' IBM takes care of all that and I just need to code). So forgive me if any of the following sounds stupid, it probably is. Just get a laugh at my expense and try to answer between

Struts vs RoR
hi, I recently attended one of the ruby meetings that we have in my city. There one of the speaker said that google, amazon .. are working on RoR but still the performance of RoR is not at par with J2EE others.... he meant that though google, amazon working o it they will not bring it as front applications only parts the reason ruby is slow in comparison to other languages.... and in real time

Good RoR design example.
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could point me to a good (ideally simple) example of RoR design. I am rather new to this subject, and I am playing with https://rubyforge.org/projects/mystic/ as an simple example to understand how stuff works, but I am not entirely convinced that it has been properly written in terms of locating html code, javascript code, etc. (e.g. There is a fragment of html

Newbie: Invalid number dealing with Identity columns in Oracle

Ruby on Rails with Oracle
Hello everyone, I am trying to convince my colleagues to convert to Ruby on Rails, however I am up against the following problem: Ruby on rails seems to be primarily designed a single database doing a small number of queries. While trying to process a webpage that does thousands of sql queries on Oracle, I get the message that I have used up too many cursors. In Java, I can use stmt.close()

However I run this command: rake db:schema:load and I get an error "syntax error on line 23, col 11: `''". The error however is now with the schema it''s with the ruby install itself as you can see with the trace I ran:
