Hi Centos Users
I try to compile SNMPPD (SNMP Proxy Daemon) on Centos 5.1 x86_64 with
latest patches. Dependencies (like libsplit, net-snmp-libs,
net-snmp-devel, net-snmp-libs) are installed, both 32 and 64 Bit.

Conditional Selection of Columns for Tables
Dear Wizards -
Thank you so much for your help. That was exactly what I was looking
for. Now, I have been working on conditional selection of columns in a
data frame. My goal is to calculate the total revenue per sales
representative per status in a table. I have come to a complete stop:
Let's say, we have a data.frame called df with several columns and a
number of rows:

Trouble with Paste and Quotes and List Objects
Dear R Helpers,
I have a list that contains a number of objects, each of them financial
statement data from quantmod (although I don't think that knowledge of
quantmod is necessary to help with this problem).

importing spreadsheet data - linera regression - panel data
Hi everyone and thank you for the help you could give me.
My data is in a spreadsheet. The 1st column identifies the
firm (with the fiscal number), the columns 2 to 11 have
the variable value for 11 years. I have many variables
(files like this). Each file has about 40.000 firms
(rows). I transformed all the files in txt files. The data
is a panel data, like this:

Inconsistent results between multi_search and find_by_contents (is "other" a reserved word?)
I have a Computer type and I''m trying to query agianst it. When I do
the query with find_by_contents, I get correct results. However, when
I query using multi_search, I get incorrect results.
I''m using the most recent version of Acts As Ferret and Ferret
This returns the correct results:

Rails generates query with reserved word for field name
For some reason, rails is generating this SQL:
SELECT FIRST 1 * FROM questions WHERE (parent_id IS NULL) ORDER BY
position DESC
1. There is no column named position referenced in my code.
2. POSITION is a reserved word in SQL92. It is the name of a string
function that returns the offset of one string within another. I
believe that this is a bug in Rails. Either position should be

How to use a reserved word in italics in an expression
Dear R-helpers,

Error: unexpected 'function' in "label2 <-
expression(paste(italic(attraction function"
How do I tell R that in this case I don't want 'function' to be
treated as a reserved word but as a string in italics?

How to read percentage and currency data?
I'm struggling to find any help on this seemingly simple question - how does
one read data with percentage (%) or currency (?,$ etc.) signs? When I try
to read a data file which has any of those symbols in the data fields, they
are read as characters rather than values. Is there a function or library
which can deal with such values?
As an example, I use this sample from one of chinna's

Google Ads in the Wiki
A fairly serious question: how much can we (as users) donate to get the
Google ads off the Wiki? I guess this does not give so much revenue, and
it is really distracting. So, if we can match the annual income of Google
Ads on the Wiki, I think I (and others) are willing to compensate this
with donations.

PBX hacked: why hundred of calls to the same number ?
Hi,
Someone reported me that from a PBX on which someone gained fraudulent
access, he could observe hundreds of calls to the same destination
number.
For curiosity's sake, I'm wondering why would this happen (dialing the
same number over and over) ?
Some special numbers generate here and there revenues for callees (and
not for callers).
