How to change the scheduler? (credit)
Hi!
I`m using xen 3.0.2 on a Debian Sarge 3,1 (XEON machine)!
By default my scheduler is "sedf", ok?!
I would like to change it to the "credit"!
I tried to set the parameter "sched=credit" in my grub config, but
when I try to use the command "xm sched-credit -d <domain>" and
others, it doesn`t work!
But if I try "xm sched-sedf -l" it

mini-os under xen 3.0.2
Hello all,
I have successfully installed xen 3.0.2 on a dual celeron system. Linux in
dom0 works fine. Now, I would like to play with the mini-os (my ultimate goal
is to implement a small RTOS as guest in Xen, so mini-os looks like an ideal
starting point). However, I can''t seem to get it to run as (I think) it
should: It boots up, but as far as I understand the source code and the

I am using older xen version xen-3.0.2 which supports BVT and SEDF scheduler
I want to add credit and boost credit scheduler support in xen-3.0.2 .
Please let me know if any (Credit scheduler) patch is available for xen-3.0.2
Thanks,

[Fwd: Re: Zaptel PCI IRQ problem]
Hi,
Sorry to insist, but I would really like to be able to use Xen and my
zaptel hardware all together in Dom0. I was just wondering if the 3.1
release could contain some changes compared to 3.0.4 related to IRQ
handling or scheduling that could workout my problem.
Thanks,
François.

Poor network performance - caused by inadequate vif configuration?
All,
similar to some mail threads found in this forum and some other
xen-related threads, I had problems with the network performance of my
test system:
* software base of dom0/domU: RHEL5 (Xen 3.0.3, Redhat
2.6.18-8el5xen SMP kernel)
* ibm x306 servers with 3Ghz P4 /MT support; coupled via Gigabit
Ethernet switch
* standard xen bridging network configuration
* test tool: iperf
* Xen

Arinc653 does not run VM
Hi,
I am using Xen 4.2.3 installed on an Intel Atom with a Debian Dom0 and 3 Debian domU''s installed. I am trying to run some benchmarks using the Arinc653 scheduler. I have edited my grub options to boot with ''maxcpus=1 sched=arinc653'' options. I can boot the dom0 and verify that the scheduler is enabled. However when I xl create, the VM is created but I cannot

sedf: remove useless tracing printk and harmonize comments style.
sched_sedf.c used o have its own mechanism for producing tracing-alike
kind of information (domain block, wakeup, etc.). Nowadays, with an even
not so high number of pCPUs/vCPUs, just trying to enable this makes
the serial console completely unusable, produces tons of very hard to
parse and interpreet logging and can easily livelock Dom0. Moreover,
pretty much the same result this is struggling to

Performance measurement using Xenmon
Hi,
I have installed Xen 3.3.1 with Ubuntu 8.04 as dom0 and fedora9 (from
jailtime.org) as Dom1. I have more instances of the same fedora9 with
separate config files running as other guest domains. But these guest
domains dont have any program / application running. So, xm list shows that
they are in blocked state as no activity is happening. I wrote a shell
script that counts upto large numbers

Measuring performance using Xenmon
Hi,
I am using Xenmon to measure performance of Credit and SEDF schedulers. But
as you know, the metrics displayed by xenmon keep refreshing on the screen.
When I tried redirecting the xenmon output, I am seeing the attached file.
Is there any better way to record results which I can use to draw graphs?
Please guide..
Thank you

I do the heavy load test of create/destroy.
CREDIT scheduler(cshed_schedule) checks BUG_ON(!vcpu_running) at the end of code.
It makes error.
The reason is that
atomic_inc(&v->pausecnt)@vcpu_pause() is called without lock.
(spin_lock(&schedule_data[cpu].schedule_lock))
This lock-less "pausecnt" makes vcpu_running state changing

[LLVMdev] Experimental Evaluation of the Schedulers in LLVM 3.3
Our test machine has two Intel
Xeon E5540 processors running at 2.53 GHz with 24 GB of memory. Each CPU has 8
threads (16 threads in total). All our tests, however, were single threaded. Which result is particularly surprising for you? The low impact of the MI scheduler, the relatively good performance of the source scheduler or the relatively poor performance of the ILP scheduler?
Thanks

So, when the MI scheduler is enabled, will SD scheduling be totally disabled or the SD scheduler will be automatically set to do source scheduling?

credit1 scheduler question.
Hey George,
I was wondering if you could explain in simple terms how the scheduler would
handle per-physical CPU when there are say 16 guests (each guest is using
one VCPU), 32 physical CPUs and dom0 is not restricted to any CPUs. Would
the scheduler per physical CPU schedule: guest, dom0, guest, dom0, and so
on; or would it be more random? (I assume that both guest and dom0 would do
