[PATCH] PVWin: Fix warnings
This patch cleans up some 80-odd warnings I was seeing when compiling the xenpci driver, all completely trivial. It also replaces the use of asm for calling cpuid with the __cpuid compiler intrinsic, and modifies calling code accordingly. I''m pretty sure my mailer going to mangle the inline patch (below) so I''m attaching the pristine version. (will try to fix for next time) --

evtchn_upcall_mask
This topic came up months ago (under the thread "make hypercall_preempt_check() a little more sensitive"), but since then, due to a misunderstanding, PPC has been running with a hack instead of a solution. So anyways, I''ve been digging into this again. PowerPC domains are allowed to write to the "interrupts enabled" bit (called External Exceptions, or EE) in the

code question?
Doing some janitorial (you cleaning the flooded toilets and such) work today. I have come across this line of code that really I''m not sure what the intent was..in xen/include/sched.h #define hypercall_preempt_check() (unlikely( \ softirq_pending(smp_processor_id()) | \ (!!current->vcpu_info->evtchn_upcall_pending & \

[PATCH] Add SCHEDOP_block_on
This patch adds a facility to block on a particular event channel, for when a domain needs to block, but cannot enable interrupts. A domain uses the call something like this: while (1) { clear_evtchn_pending(evtchn); if (check_for_data(evtchn)) break; HYPERVISOR_block_on(evtchn); } The clear of the pending is needed to ensure that any subsequent calls to block_on() don''t

[PATCH 007/112] Xen: Make events.c portable for ia64/xen support.
Remove x86 dependency in drivers/xen/events.c for ia64/xen support introducing include/asm/xen/events.h. Introduce xen_irqs_disabled() to hide regs->flags Introduce xen_do_IRQ() to hide regs->orig_ax. make enum ipi_vector definition arch specific. ia64/xen needs four vectors. Add one rmb() because on ia64 xchg() isn't barrier. Signed-off-by: Isaku Yamahata <yamahata at

[PATCH 3/10] Add support for netfront/netback acceleration drivers
This set of patches adds the support for acceleration plugins to the netfront/netback drivers. These plugins are intended to support virtualisable network hardware that can be directly accessed from the guest, bypassing dom0. This is in response to the RFC we posted to xen-devel with an outline of our approach at the end of September. To follow will be another set of patches to provide our

[PATCH][discuss] evtchn race condition
Keir, below/attached patch is necessary to allow SVM partitions to boot unmodified guests with xen-unstable.hg c/s 8961. c/s 8822 and 8828 (some necessary evtchn modifications) cause SVM partitions to fail with "lost interrupt" hda error during boot. We currently do not understand why these modifications are necessary and in fact, a race occurs with one part of the patch (added

[patch] Initialize xen_vcpu0 before initialize irq_ops
Hello, I find a strange behavior. When a machine is slow (or with many debug traces or a qemu vm), a interrupt can occur between the pv_irq_ops initialization and the xen_vcpu[0] initialization. This lead to a problem because some operations in xen_irq_ops use xen_vcpu. I send you a patch to fix that but I''m not quite sure that is the right solution. Regards, Anthoine From

increase evtchn limits
Hi, I''m trying to boot up with lot more than 32 vcpus on this very large box. I overcame vcpu_info[MAX_VIRT_CPUS] by doing vcpu placement hypercall in guest, but now running into evt channel limit (lots of devices): unsigned long evtchn_pending[sizeof(unsigned long) * 8]; which limits to 512 max for my 64bit dom0. The only recourse seems to create a new struct shared_info_v2{},

[PATCH] Disable PAT support when running under Xen (v1).
The issue at hand is that any prolonged usage of radeon or nouveau driver ends up corrupting the file system or we end up with mysterious crashes of applications. There are three ways of fixing it: a). A proper fix: https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/2/10/228 . I posted the same fix for 3.2 way back in December but it got nowhere. The recent posting has also been meet with silence. Not being happy

evtchn_upcall_mask for PV-on-HVM
We seem to find an interesting bug, but not for sure. Each time before xen returns to hvm domain, it checks local_events_need_delivery to see whether any events pending and if yes, inject event by callback_irq into the virtual interrupt controller. However, the interesting point is, we never found any place, either in xen or in PV drivers, to clear evtchn_upcall_mask at any time. The initial

[patch 13/19] xen: fix incorrect vcpu_register_vcpu_info hypercall argument
-stable review patch. If anyone has any objections, please let us know. ------------------ From: Jeremy Fitzhardinge <jeremy@goop.org> patch e3d2697669abbe26c08dc9b95e2a71c634d096ed in mainline. The kernel's copy of struct vcpu_register_vcpu_info was out of date, at best causing the hypercall to fail and the guest kernel to fall back to the old mechanism, or worse, causing random
