kernel names
Hi
I am pretty new to this, and this may be an easy one, but I have not
found the answer in the docs.
The kernels produced from a build seem to have the same name for both
the dom0 and domU instances.
I get one kernel named vmlnuz-2.16.6-xen
Is this expected?
Although the dom0 boots, I ma having a crappy time getting a virtualized
OS to boot and am trying to see if this is the

I suspect that the problem is in my supplied file system
First the environment.
VT enabled dual core EM64T processor,
Asus Mb (I can get the exact chipset infor if relevant)
2 Gig of DRAM
SATA drives.
I have build and booted the domain 0 using 3.0.2-2 version of xen. This
seems ok.

[newbie] Error: Not an HVM capable platform...
Hi,
I''ve run linux off an on for several years. Recently I''ve been using
windows (simply for ease), but have gotten so fed up with stability
and what not. I had read good things about xen, so I installed suse
and was hoping to not give up the 10% of things that I need windows
for. I''ve still got windows on a partition and was wondering if I
could boot that, but wanted

VNC: i want see " my session"
Hi Patrick,
Thanks for you quickly answer.
Yes, x11vnc was installed on my system.
The problem is i not understand the ?logic" of vnc connection, so i try to dark?
I copy the /etc/systemd/system/vncserver@:1.service to /etc/systemd/system/vncserver@:0.service
restart the vnc service and obtain

As I said in my previous post, for what you are wanting to do,
vncserver is not the right tool. Use x11vnc instead (and also
remove the above copy).

Note that x11vnc's display number will be the same as that
of the X server it was started from, so you'll

Centos 6 - x11vnc auto probing to port 5903
Hi all,
I was at one time able to get x11vnc to start on 5900 but for some reason its listening on port 5903.
Here is what the logs say;
-- snippet
X display :0.0
-- snippet
The VNC desktop is: hostname:3
Why is the VNC desktop going to 3?
I was working on 5900 previous to a reboot, unsure what changed, but something obviously has.

VNC on centOS
yum -y install x11vnc
x11vnc -display :0 -forever -bg
firewall-cmd --add-port=5900/tcp --permanent
You should look into VNC passwords, I use the above command in a shell
script for each user in ~/.kde/Autostart
I believe the viewer I'm using is krdc?

AgentCallbackLogin by other means
Hi,
We?re looking at options for logging agents into the system programmatically
via Perl/PHP and I was wondering if anyone else is doing this and if so,
how. We're using AgentCallbackLogin now but would like to set up a web
interface instead. I've been looking at Asterisk::Manager and didn't see
anything relevant and wanted to ask the group before we dove into the
Asterisk source.

McFadden r^2 and the inrercept
Hi
I have estimated parameters of my data with mlogit and the following commands. I would like to know also the McFadden R^2 and the intercept, could soweone tell me how that can be done?
library(RODBC)
library(mlogit)
library(foreign)
z<-odbcConnectExcel("D:\\MALLI11ARVOT.xls")
y<-sqlFetch(z,"Taul1")

VNC on Optimus systems (is|may be) broken
Hello!
I'm investigating a case where x11vnc (or RealVNC server or vino) on a
_real_ X11 server seems to be broken with any VNC viewer.
By broken I mean: it seems to keep old frames in memory, in such a way
that in every three frames, two are from the past and one is the
current one.
This is easily spotted when using gnome-shell and looking at the clock
at the top. Besides being

OT: BudgetTone CallerID
Since the last firmware upgrade we've been experiencing some odd CallerID
behaviour. Instead of the LCD showing the calling party's #, the phones
are showing the internal extension being dialed.
This is probably a really stupid fix I'm overlooking, but I was hoping
someone could offer some insight.
Thanks!

R^2 in Poisson via pr2() function: skeptical about r^2 results
Hello.
I am running 9 poisson regressions with 5 predictors each, using glm with
family=gaussian.
Gaussian distribution fits better than linear regression on fit indices,
and also for theoretical reasons (e.g. the dependent variables are counts,
and the distribution is highly positively skewed).
I want to determine pseudo R^2 now. However, using the pR2() of the pscl
package offers drastically

(off topic) Re: Notepad
The discussion on editors prompts the following comments.
1) One reason I put "Kickstarting R" together is that most people come
to R as migrants; they already have an editor, a browser, etc. that they
know how to use. Learning one thing is easier than learning many (Jon
Baron's comment on interference is most relevant).
2) NotePad isn't a great editor, but it will serve for

Equation e.g. (A, B are known constants):
3log(gamma(x))-log(gamma(x)*gamma(2x))+(x-1)*A+B=0

Package for multivariate binary logistic regression?
I am trying to find out if someone has implemented a (McFadden-type) multivariate
binary logistic regresssion package for R? From what I can tell, this is not available for R.
Thank you,

Subset function: selecting variables within a factor
Hi all
I know this must be an easy one so sorry for the trouble. I would like
to select a list of variables within a factor
The following example is given in help for subset:
subset(airquality, Temp > 80 select = c(Ozone, Temp))
So how do I select all temperatures of 90 and 80 ie Temp = c(80,90)
I would appreciate your help.
Kind regards

multinomial logit estimation
Good morning,
I'd like to estimate a simple multinomial logit model in R (not a McFadden conditional logit). For instance, I'd like to estimate the probability of someone having one of eight titles in a company with the independent variables being the company characteristics. A binary logit is well documented. What about the multinomial?
Thanks,
