Sane value for Number of Desktops?
Would it be possible that the max restriction for the number_of_desktops
option could be set to a sane value.
At the moment it's set to a maximum of ~32,000. Realistically whose going to
want 32,000 workspaces! It makes the option really hard to set in
compiz-settings because slider increments are too big. I think it woulb be
more sensible to set it to max 100 (probably less).

SANE 2004 Free Software Bazaar
We (the NLUUG) are organising a conference in Amsterdam this September.
During this SANE conference we have reserved an evening for a Free
Software Bazaar. We invite many people to participate in this gathering
of Free and Open Source software groups.
The name "Bazaar" obviously originates from Eric Raymond's article: A
place where software developers gather. A unique opportunity

sane?
Howdy,
I've been regularly using the CVS tree for updating wine for a few
months now, and with only a few problems caused by my relative Linux
OS newbieness, I must say that it's been a dandy experience.
So, I've tried again today, and I get the following error, with having
changed nothing in my method (but maybe my system?) since my last
update:

Making "sip show channels" show sane results with sipfriends from mysql?
hi
using sipfriends from mysql from asterisk 1.0 branch, how can I make
asterisk show the true channel's current codec with SIP SHOW CHANNELS?
This does not seem to work, and bkw_ said sipfriends from mysql didn't
have that info at all. For what it may seem, asterisk uses G.726 as
told, giving me a

at the start of the call, but in SIP SHOW CHANNELS all these

(In)(x)sane privilege/access issue
I just picked up a new HP OfficeJet J3680 all-in-one (because, as
previously posted, my 4315 broke), and I was able to install the
printer using the latest hplip's hp-setup command, BUT:

Safe/sane tempfile creation?
I'm used to Debian-based distros which have a tempfile(1) utility for
safely and sanely creating temporary files.
There isn't a comperable utility for RHEL/CentOS systems.
I've been exercising Google-fu looking for a good robust tempfile
generation idiom, but haven't turned one up yet.
Hence this appeal to the lazyweb.

Newer SANE packages for 5.9 ??
I just got a Canon Canoscan LiDE 210 scanner, which the SANE project pages
say works "completely" with Sane.
but what isn't obvious without a lot of digging is that the version of
Sane in EL5 isn't new enough.
it works fine with what's on my eeepc (Fedora 17) but not Centos 5.9.
I've been messing around with building sane from source, but have not
been fully

[nbdkit PATCH] server: Enforce sane stdin/out/err
Refuse to run if stdin/out/err start life closed. stdin/out are
essential when using -s (if they aren't present, we want to fail
fast), and should remain unused otherwise (but ensuring they are open

accidentally colliding). We also want to ensure that nothing opens
into the slot for stderr, as any error message we produce might

Does anyone have any experience putting together a sane config for

xentrace: cycles error
Hi All,
I am running xentrace on an idle machine (dom0 has 2 cpus). There are 4 cpus in the system

xentrace -e0x82000 > idle.out

The sampling interval is 25 seconds. However when I format and look at the output, I see the sample time is 761 seconds or something bizarre
Looks like the cpu cycles have gone beserk. Any ideas as to what could be happening

xentrace
Hi,
I've made some SAP benchmarks on my Xen system and discovered a huge difference in the performance of a "xened" SAP system compared to a native SAP system. Hence, I tried to figure out what might cause this 'overhead' and run a xentrace (listining to all events). Xentrace produced 24gb data and I converted it to 27gb human-readable data. After I gathered the

xentrace failure...
Hello,
I''ve been trying to get xenmon.py and xentrace to work, but I consistently get
the following (on a couple of different machines/kernels):
kibab kibab # xentrace /root/xentrace.log
ERROR: Failure to get trace buffer pointer from Xen (22 = Invalid argument)
Did I miss an option that has to be turned on or something? Is there some
other setting that I need so that everything

[Patch] fix "%016x" format of xentrace
Hi,
xentrace_format cannot use "0x016x" format as we expect.
It show only %(N) as "0x016x" format, not as "%(N+1)08x%(N)08x".
So I fixed tools/xentrace/formats by using "%(N+1)08x%(N)08x" format.
Also I added some TRC_PV entries.

how to use xentrace and xentrace_format
Hi,
I have read a mail in the mail list about xentrace and
xentrace_format. But I am still puzzled on how to use them.
Could somebody give me an example about how to use xentrace and
xentrace_format.
What I have done is that:
1. Root:/# xentrace /var/perftests/xentrace.log
Then I use xentrace_format to get what I want
2. cat /var/perftests/xentrace.log | xentrace_format
