New to Wine, Install Problem
Wine Enthusiasts, I'm new to Wine and am having a problem installing some software. I didn't see the application in question in the Application Database. I'm hoping the problem is something simple and that perhaps a Wine guru on the list can point me in the right direction. I don't have Windoze installed on any of my boxes. Unfortunately I now find myself needing to run a

Too many login generators?
there is a blog about it http://www.realityforge.org/articles/2005/11/12/aaa_in_rails There are so many Authentication/Authorization/Auditing generators now, just like the situation in java''s world, Too many components doing the samething just make me confusion. Why not add one to rails core lib and everybody can extend it for their requirement ? -- Posted via

Phone Numbers in Rails/MySQL
Is there any easy way to make a fancy looking form to take phone numbers. Something that looks like this: [ ] - [ ] - [ ] ext: [ ] Then when you submit it it''s combined into one string in the database. Optimally it would auto-switch from field-to-field after you fill each field. Has anyone seen anything like this in Rails? Thanks, Adam -- Posted via

Rails Reference 1.1.2
As part of my 3 day training course on Rails, I hand out a 24 page "short reference" of Rails. It''s collection of the most used calls, methods, functions across a wide range of Rails functionality. I have released it under a Creative Commons license, so feel free to grab it and use it and improve it. It''s a bit rough around some of it''s edges, and I

Masked user input
Hi - I'm creating a package of database tools. A function in the package requires the username and password as input to the function in order to initially connect to the target database(s). Of course, this poses a significant security issue given the possible retention of the function statement in cleartext. I did not readily encounter a package meant to mask input from the user nor do I

what''s your rails wishlist?
I''ve been working with rails for a while now. Rails is the second web framework I''ve tried. It blows the doors off catalyst (perl''s best framework). I even just wrote my first plugin (broomstick). Ruby''s ability to meta-program blew me away with it''s ease of use. I''ve been so impressed with the helpers that rails uses to make a lot of

Class not found when search in .onLoad
Hi, I am facing with a strange behaviour of isClass and extends when these are called in .onLoad in both R 2.12.1 and R 2.13.0. This is preventing my package from doing some object initializations at a proper place (i.e. in .onLoad). Suppose one defines two S4 classes in a package, and that one needs to check the inheritance between these two when loading the package (e.g. to validate slots

Writing R-extensions
G'day all, After reading through "Writing R Extensions", Version 2.1.1 (2005-06-20), I thought the the following points might need clarifications or corrections. (I checked that these comments also hold for "Writing R Extensions", Version 2.2.0.) 1) When I ran "package.skeleton" recently, I noticed that the DESCRIPTION file and an entry `type'. This

Loading namespaces
I'm creating a package for my own use that uses some S4 classes but no methods. I have a file called NAMESPACE it contains the line: exportClasses("foo") and at the top of the R file I have setClass("foo", representation(x="numeric") and the line: .onLoad<-function(libname,pkgname) When I run R CMD check I get Syntax error in the only R file. .First and loading a package in a workspace
Hi, I'm writing a package called rNMR and I'd like to be able to save a workspace with rNMR loaded, exit R, and then load the workspace, loading rNMR at the same time. This is no problem on Windows but on Linux and Macs I can't get it to work. Here's the deal. rNMR has includes a .onLoad function: .onLoad = function(lib, pkg){ print("rNMR version 1.0") } and

I am looking to do some text analysis using R and have run into some issues with some of the packages. Im not sure if its my goofy Vista OS or what but using R 2.8.1 i s relatively successful loading the text but the rJava package was messed up somehow: library(tm) > library(rJava) Error in if (!nchar(javahome)) stop("JAVA_HOME is not set and could not be determined from the
