mongrel_cluster: selective restarts
Hi list,
I have tried to reach Bradley (author of mongrel_cluster) by mail, but
have not gotten a response. So I''ll try trough this channel:
I have ''developed''[1] a small extension to mongrel_cluster that allows
selective restart of any one listener in a configuration that contains
more than one listener by using a command like

--user and --group switch broken in TRUNK
It seems that a recent code cleanup broke --user and --group switch in
the trunk. Mongrel essentially ignores these commands. This applies to
everyone who has installed
gem install mongrel --source=http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/releases/
recently. I have attached a patch to revert to some old working code.
best regards,

Slideshow/presentation software for CentOS
I am looking for software to make slideshows/presentations on CentOS, incorporating photos, videos and text (possibly also music) allowing for transition effects etc. I'd like to be able to drag and drop/rearrange photos etc. from different folders into a timeline and eventually end up with something I can show. Ideally without having to make copies of photos and store them in a folder

Why we wont use zpool ever again
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to tell you a little story. We''ve been enthusiastic puppet
users since about a year ago here at the Geographic Institute of the
University of Zürich.
But we won''t use the zpool type ever again. Its just not worth it.
Here''s what happened:
. one of our servers lost knowledge about one of its zfs pools
. puppet didn''t find the pool

Unable to create GPO "Allow log on locally"
Hi,
I've a Samba 4.4.5 AD DC working fine.
But when I try to create a GPO on "Computer Configuration>Policies>
Windows Settings>Security Settings>Local Policies>User Rights
Assignment>Allow Logon Locally" I can add Administrators, Domain Admin
to the listbox but I'm unable to apply.
When I click "Ok" or "Apply" the dialog won't close.

Mongrel Upload Progress 0.2 -- With Instructions and Examples
Hi Folks,
I''m sure tons of people are gonna ruin a whole drawer of their best
panties over this one.
Rick Olson worked on the mongrel_upload_progress gem, documentation and
examples and has almost everything you need to do progress tracked file
uploads using just Mongrel to handle the upload. This means that Rails
(or any other framework) isn''t blocked while the upload

How can I define a static member of a class? not a static method,
rather a static field that would be accessed by all instances of the
class.

Mongrel crashes - bad doggie
Hello List,
I have a production machine with very low ram (Xen Virtual Server) that
runs mysql and lighty->pound->mongrel (2 instances). About once a day,
one of the mongrels just locks up, leaving that in its log files:
*** glibc detected *** /usr/bin/ruby: free(): invalid next size (fast):
0x0a744780 ***
That process (mongrel) will stay locked, not answer any connections

Check_box woes
I have a User model and an Address model.
A user has_many addresses, and an address belongs_to a user.
An address object for a user could be a billing, shipping or marketing address.
The way I''m tracking this is via the user attributes:
billing_adress_id, marketing_address_id and shipping_address_id in the
user table, which holds the relevant address id.
But in my form that allows a

remote logging non-daemon mode
Greetings all. Due to security concerns we are switching our backup
processes from "SSH tunnel to rsync daemon" to "Running rsync over ssh
in --server mode". In daemon mode we had a nice conglomerate log file
of all of the backups that ran. Now that I am tweaking the scripts to
run over --server mode I see that by default there is no remote
logging. From what I have read on

formatting date strings
Hi all
I am a relatively new R user so please excuse this question if it has been
covered some where else, just tell me where to find it.
I have a simulation model that out puts dates in a standard dd/mm/yy format
R reads this as a factor and I cant find anything that will allow me to
convert them to a date. In S+ I have used a chron() function that required
you to specify the format of the

Derivative of a smooth function
Dear All,
I've been?searching for?appropriate codes to compute the rate of change and the curvature?of ?nonparametric regression model whish was denoted by a smooth function?but?unfortunately?don't manage to?do?it. I presume that such characteristics from a smooth curve can be determined by the first and second derivative operators.
The following are the example of fitting a

help with hclust and cutree
Hello,
I would like to cut a hclust tree into several groups at a specific
similarity. I assume this can be achieved by specifying the "h" argument
with the specified similarity, e.g.:
clust<-hclust(dist,"average")
cut<-cutree(clust,h=0.65)
Now, I would like to draw rectangles around the branches of the
dendrogram highlighting the corresponding clusters, as is done by

samba 4 in AD 2008R2 without winbind
Hi all, my goal is to have samba (ubuntu 16.04 samba 4.3.11) validating internal user (just the user presents on /etc/passwd) on an existing AD 2008R2. I am making a fresh install and I did it using winbind, but this component puzzle me with id mapping, so I am trying to avoid the use of winbind.
Unfortunately, when I stop winbind I got always NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS; it seems like samba is not

whish stars.Rd
Dear Rdev,
in R 2.9.0 the doc of function stars() does not state that it
returns invisibly the location of atomic graphs. This is a
valuable information as it may help to set a value for the key.loc
parameter of this function.
My whish is just that the "value" section in stars.Rd should be
documented.
