zombie domains
Hi,
How can I figure why some domain is still in zombie state, like these ones:
master-xen root /vm/ttylinux# xm list
Name ID Mem(MiB) VCPUs State Time(s)
Domain-0 0 574 1 r----- 90.5
Zombie-small-11 28 0 1 ---s-d 0.9

stable / unstable parallel install?
Hi,
Is there some easy way to install both 2.x and unstable xen
tools at the same machine? Seems /usr is hardcoded everythere
in the tools Makefiles, looks like there is no easy way to put
them to different paths (say, prefix /opt/xen2 and /opt/xen3)
:-/

[DOC] Update item on FAQ
It''s not quite clear how to go about this so hopefully whoever maintains
the FAQ is on this list.
As part of closing bug #156, it would be nice to add a sentence on item
4.8 (The initrd that came with my distro does not...) to include the
following sentences:
"Some distros (notably SLES9) have a mkinitrd that adds garbage to the
end of the initrd. These initrds will not work

[PATCH] Xen Guest Kexec
All,
I''m posting to the Xen-devel list and the OSDL fastboot list. There are a
number of Xen folks who''ll want to look at the code. For the fastboot folks,
this is mostly intended as an announcement of the port. Please limit your
replies to the list(s) that they applies to, thanks :-)
A number of people have expressed interest in kexec support for Xen guests.

Basic xenstore questions (building a watchdog)
I''m looking at building a xenstore-based watchdog, as described at
http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2005-07/msg00597.html
However, being somewhat new to xenstore, I''d appreciate some pointers.
- What portions of the xenstore namespace should I use? I''m looking for
at least two settings writable by the DomUs: A flag to enable/disable
the watchdog

apci issue
Hi,
Updated to current bk today, and my machine stopped booting ...
I''ve tracked it down to the apic changes from end of last week.
cset 1.1307 boots fine, 1.1308 doesn''t.
Diff of the boot messages is below. Full logs are also attached.

xen on suse 9.3 and software raid
Has anyone had issues starting xen0 on a md? I have installed it a few
times now w/ and w/o raid. Anytime I have a raid1 mirror, Xen panics on
boot when trying to mount /.
It gets past waiting for /dev/md0 to appear.

vnc port selection
Hi folks,
Xen''s qemu-dm version has a ''-vncunused'' command line switch which asks
the internal vnc server to pick any unused tcp port to listen on. The
actual port is communicated to the outside world via xenstore.
I''m looking for a reasonable way to implement that functionality in
upstream qemu. First, I think it shouldn''t be a separate command

I think I have this problem with PAE as well. Machine is SMP
(hyperthreaded). PAE dom0 boots fine on CPU #0. PAE domU is bound to
CPU #1 by default and boots to the login prompt as well, but only with
NX disabled (and

Creating a custom directory tree inside Xenstore
Is it possible to create a custom directory tree inside Xenstore using any of the Xenstore-utilities??
For example, "/local/domain/0/Customdir".
Thx,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package ships (or creates)

Bug#693217: Removal of xenstore tdb file before xenstored daemon
Package: xen-utils-common
Version: 4.0.0-1
Consider removal of xenstored tdb file (located at
/var/lib/xenstored/tdb) before start of xenstored daemon during the boot
(or removal during the shutdown/reboot of the server) as proposed by Ian
Campbell during our discussions [1].

at present to implement this, and wanted to get some feedback before
getting started. All comments welcome :)

Accessing xenstore from libvirt
Hi,
is it possible to access xenstore through libvirt? Or at least any other
programatic means other than calling xenstore-read/write through shell?
I understand it is somewhat of a security risk but still...
Thanks,
Marin

XenStore communication
Hi,
I want to know how everything communicates with XenStore.
Do domUs use the front-end/back-end driver to dom0 and then the back-end
driver contacts xenstored?
In particular, how do the xenstore-* commands work on a dom0 and domU?
And when should unix-domain sockets be used to communicate with xenstored?
Thanks,
Hayawardh

Bug#666135: XenStore tdb vs. reboot
Hello,
I noticed a strace delay when running "virsh list" on my Xen-4.1.3 test
server. On further investigation I noticed that in XenStore there were
multiple /vm/$UUID entries suffixed by -$VERSION, especially I hat 16 entries
for my dom0. For each reboot of the host I get a new entry.
After disabling Xend I get the following output after a reboot:
> root at xen5:~# xenstore-ls
