Can't get shared public folders working
I'm trying to use a shared public namespace. Clients say it exists, but sieve scripts can't write to it. The configuration in /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-mail.conf: # Shared namespace for Foo stuff namespace { type = public separator = '/' prefix = "#Foo/" location =

Ext3 needs updated "mount" also + SILO note
Just wanted to note that you also need "mount" => 2.11 to use "auto" in fstab. On the homepage http://www.uow.edu.au/~andrewm/linux/ext3/ it only tells you to use "util-linux" => 2.11 Also, a note about SILO not working with unclean Ext3 would be nice (i.e. make a dedicated ext2 /boot partition if you want to run ext3 on Sparc). /Martin (very new to this list)

Mount drbd/gfs logical volume from domU
Hi list, I setup on 2 Xen Dom0s drbd/gfs a logical volume, this works as primary/primary so both DomUs will be able to write on them at the same time. But I dont know how to mount them from my domUs, I can see them with fdisk -l. The partition is /dev/xvdb1 SHould I install gfs on domUs and mount them on each as gfs partitions? [root@p3x0501 ~]# fdisk -l Disk /dev/xvda: 5368 MB, 5368709120

Fwd: Re: Samba Freezes accessing shares/ low performance
Thanks Volker, I've Changed the values as you suggested, i noticed that the default value for max xmit is much less 16384! Still I feel like the performance is very slow indeed. This because on server, a can make copys arround 8gb/s! and in samba is all so slow and it freezes as i sad many times... Can you have a second look to the log, to see if you see anything strange? I'm putting

Weird issue with gluster mount
Hey guys, I have a weird issue with my glusterfs mount point. I'm trying to touch it on one machine: root at il-bi-s01:/mnt# touch gfs touch: setting times of `gfs': Invalid argument But on another machine, it works: root at diablo /mnt # touch gfs root at diablo /mnt # On both machines the mount is working fine, I'm just wondering what's up with this? NFS exporting a GFS mount point
Hello, I have a storage offering some 11 TB of space. I'd happily use ext3 and NFS export to 4 client machines, but 8 TB seems to be the tested maximum. I'd really like one mount point for the whole 11 TB. Since GFS offers lock_nolock option for local mounting, I'm assuming it's not so out of line to NFS export this GFS mount point. Thoughts and inputs appreciated. --Koji

What could cause an "unclean shutdown" of process?
Hello everyone, I've been experiencing many problems recently with windows software parsing large text files stored on a samba share (smb version 3.6.3 on ubuntu12.04). The software, which are running on windows XP stations, are crashing quite often. I notice this in the log.smbd at the time of the crash: [2012/08/28 17:25:21.980609, 3] smbd/server.c:629(smbd_parent_housekeeping) Printcap

After update to 3.6.1 -> smbd dies often ? massive brl and lock database cleanup scheduled log entries
Hi ! We updated our NT4 domain-server samba from 3.0.27a to newest available 3.6.5 version this weekend. I've done various testing in a VM to make sure that everything is working under 3.6.5 and it all seems to run well. After updating the live system to 3.6.5 the following log entries occur really often, but users don't have any noticable problems. ( Tried to find matching entries in

mount r/w and r/o
I have an ext3 filesystem mounted r/w on 1 host and r/o on multiple hosts. Dangerous but cost effective. I recently implemented some protection through a fc switch that restricts some hosts to r/o access to the data luns. So if someone types mount -o rw or something, all is not lost. The issue occurs when it's mounted r/w on 1 host and another host attempts to mount it r/o. The mount

Should fs_passno in /etc/fstab be always set to 0
That seems to be the indication given by this webpage http://www.zip.com.au/~akpm/linux/ext3/ext3-usage.html However, default install of Redhat 7.2 setsup fs_passno(6th field of /etc/fstab) as 2 which asks you if you want to run fsck after an unclean shutdown The question is, is fsck required after an unclean shutdown or should one just rely on journal replay. What does fsck do when it sees an

Users can't login any more
Hi, I'm using samba for years now. Today I got complaints from some users they could not login any more. The PC's they used where old Win98 PC's. Unfortunately I still have to support these. It worked fine for years, though. AFAIK nothing changed the last months. And since I do such changes I would know. I have a virtual machine with XP. To do some tests, I made a snapshot just

Multiple IRQ''s in HVM for Windows
I really need to have the ability to tie event channel port''s to interrupts for my gplpv drivers under Windows. Is anyone working on anything like this? Does MSI allow more than one interrupt per PCI device? Samba 3.5.7-3.5.1-2573 not able to shutdown old processes which results in locked files
Dear Samba users, Samba tries to close old connections on a new session setup from the same machine, but fails. Those connections result in locked files which the users can't access - i.e. save or open. I have to kill them via "kill -9 pid". smb.conf: http://pastebin.com/bYRFJwu0 smb.inc: http://pastebin.com/JV9KyDyA Using "reset on zero vc = yes" seems to reduce the

ext3->ext2->ext3 and unclean umount
Suppose I have the latest and greatest e2fsprogs. >From reading the docs I understand that 1) boot ext3, clean umount - you can remount ext3 or ext2 2) boot ext3, unclean umount - you can remount ext3 - you can e2fsck and remount ext2 Does this mean that normal linux init script e2fsck will do it, in case fstab says ext2? Or you should make sure to run e2fsck by hand with -f? 3) boot

uninterruptible processes writing to glusterfs share
hi! sometimes we've on some client-servers hanging uninterruptible processes ("ps aux" stat is on "D" ) and on one the CPU wait I/O grows within some minutes to 100%. you are not able to kill such processes - also "kill -9" doesnt work - when you connect via "strace" to such an process, you wont see anything and you cannot detach it again. there

Not sure how could it happen, do you have any advice that can avoid this or recover the data? Thanks. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list

HVM windows - PCI IRQ firing on both CPU''s
I''m just doing some testing on the gplpv drivers with different ways of handling interrupts, and I''m trying a scheme where each xen device (eg vbd/vif) driver attaches to the same IRQ as the pci driver, and each handles it in sequence. In testing though, I noticed the following when logging what each ISR is doing: 60.32381439 - evtchn event on port 5 60.32384109 - port 5

mounting gfs partition hangs

They are attached to a iscsi device and centos versions are: CentOS release 5.4 (Final) Linux node1.fib.upc.es 2.6.18-164.el5 #1 SMP Thu Sep 3 03:33:56 EDT 2009 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux The problem is if I try to mount a gfs partition it hangs. behaviour of ''xm block-attach'' changed with 3.1.2?
''xm block-attach'' doesn''t let me assign the same backend device anymore, even if I use ''r!'' or ''w!''. I think this has changed since 3.1.1 (or maybe since 3.1.0). Is this the way it is supposed to work? Thanks James _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com
