peth1 not created on boot, now what?
Here is the situation.
I have a xen system with 2 drives setup in a RAID1.
I pulled one drive and put it into an identical server.
Now, when I boot up the new server, peth1 is not created.

Multi-NIC Debian Xen Box
Hello,
I''ve recently changed my xen network setup and now, almost expectedly, my
configuration has broken access to the Domus from the network, and now I
need a little help.
Previously, I had four interfaces, only one of which was configured to be
used by both dom0 and domu. I have since created a bond between eth2 and
eth3, expecting that eth0 would be automatically assigned for use

Xen3: Unable to start xenU with Intel Core Duo T2050
I have problems to get Xen 3.0 working on my notebook (FSC AMILO Pro
V3205). I already used different operating systems for the xen0 domain,
like FC5, SUSE 10.1 und Debian SID (2.6.16-2-xen-smp) but i always run
into the same trouble. When I try to start a xenU domain it always hangs
and I get this:

Can''t get NAT access to internet from Dom U in my small network
I have followed the nat advice from this guide:
http://wiki.kartbuilding.net/index.php/Xen_Networking#Routed_Networking_with_NAT_2
I have googled internet for weeks and read almost every thread in this forum
without getting a working NAT on my system.
My main question is how exactly will the iptable rules with MASQUERADE or
POSTROUTING look like if you want access to the internet from Dom U ,

No eth0 device found in domU
Hi,
I tried already a long time to enable network in my domU but I always
fail with:
# ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.1 up
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device
Do I need to load a kernel module?
I use OpenSuse 10.2 with kernel 2.6.18.8-0.5-xen (for both domU and dom0).
My config:
kernel = "/boot/vmlinuz-xen"
ramdisk = "/home/jens/initrd.gz"
memory = 1024

No connection in DomUs with network-route
Hi,
I would like to know if somebody can point me out how to configure
several DomUs in a private LAN (for example 192.168.100.0/24) and one
DomU with two interfaces (one - 192.168.100.0/24 and two - internet).
So far I have enabled in xend-config.sxp:
(network-script network-route)
(vif-script vif-route)
My config files have:
/mnt/VM/1.cfg:vif = [''ip=192.168.1.3'']

xen4.2 + qemu-upstream domain rename partial failure (& migration)
I am seeing a problem with domain renames which I think affects everything
running with the upstream qemu xen DM.
If I create a domain, and then rename it, it renames in the xenstore, but
it does not rename in qemu. This means that (interalia) the name on a VNC
connection is incorrect. I am seeing this with a migration (where a
libxl_domain_rename is done from "name--incoming" to

Bug#588406: xen-utils-common: /etc/xen/scripts/block not driving helper scripts; XEN_SCRIPT_DIR not properly set
Package: xen-utils-common
Version: 4.0.0-1
Severity: normal
After upgrading xen-utils-common from 3.4.2-4 to 4.0.0-1, I could not create
a guest domain defined with a DRBD file type. The xm create command would
fail with "Error: Device 51713 (vbd) could not be connected. Hotplug scripts
not working.". After some research I realized the /etc/xen/scripts/block-drbd
helper script was

Another one with "Hotplug scripts not working"
Searching the archives and web i''ve learned that this error has occured for
other users as well. I already did quite a bit of debugging but can''t figure
out what the problem might be.
I''m running Xen unstable (changeset 8002) on an AMD64 server (rented from
1&1). I''ve patched the 2.6.12.6 kernel with a custom patch to get network
and disk adapter running,

Query about the vifX.Y interfaces
Hi all
Really silly question here: do the vif interfaces require IP addresses?
I''m totally stuck with getting IP traffic to my guest domain, layer 2
traffic (ie ARP queries/responces, broadcasts, etc) is all OK. Another
question, what is peth0 used for?
Thanks again

[Xense-devel] [RFC][PATCH][ACM] enforcing ACM policy on network traffic between virtual network interfaces
This patch adds an ACM hook into the network scripts (/etc/xen/scripts).
It adds iptables rules that enforce mandatory access control on network
packets exchanged between virtual interfaces. If ACM is active, this
patch sets the default FORWARD policy in Dom0 to DROP and adds iptables
ACCEPT rules between vifs that belong to domains that are permitted to
share (determined by using the

Hi folks, I''ve been trying to work out this situation for a few days now
without much success and dug all over the archives for similar issues,
none of which seem to relate exactly.
I installed Debian Etch and the Xen (3.03) kernels / binaries on a Dell
server. It works fantastic with all the default configurations with one
strange flaw - as soon as the /etc/xen/scripts/network-bridge

xen hotplug scripts not working
Hello Everyone,
I have set up a xen server with 10 physical network devices using the bridge mode of XEN. This is because I want to split and separate the network traffic for security reasons. Maybe the best way is to use pci back hide. But I want to understand what is going on here.
For all testings I have only activated eth[0-3].
My first tests were successful. I have created a VM using

Multiple Network Cards + Multiple Bridges on debian lenny
Hi all,
I''m searching for a tutorial how to setup multiple network cards with
xen network bridge setup in debian lenny. My problem is, bridges seams
only to work if i put an ip adress in dom0 to them.
Thanks,
Alex

Re: "corrupted or invalid kernel" immediately.
Yes, I found the root of the problem... it's hotplug, which shouldn't be
enabled during the early boot. So, I just "chmod 644 /sbin/hotplug", then I
created /init:
*************
#!/bin/sh
echo "Running networkboot prescript"
/bin/chmod 755 /sbin/hotplug
exec /sbin/init </dev/console >/dev/console 2>&1
*********
and made initramfs with it.

PXE and initramfs
Hello,
I'm trying to switch from initrd to initramfs for diskless
workstations, but I have some problems. I just made a symlink /init ->
/sbin/init and gzipped cpio file, then tried to compile image in the
kernel or use image with initrd option. In the first case I'm getting
"corrupted or invalid kernel" immediately. In the second kernel and
initrd can be downloaded
