Hi everyone, I''m getting the following boot error, when installing xen-unstable on a dual opteron 246 machine, with a Tyan 2881 Motherboard, 4GB RAM, SATA Drive and ReiserFS filesystem. The machine is a Fedora Core 4. I installed the i386 FC4 on the dual opteron, I didn''t want the 64bit yet. All my binaries are 32bit and I''m compiling it all with 32bit too. After

Dom0 boot failure with latest xen-unstable
ewHi, So, I''ve been struggling with some strange problems in my Xen-powered server, and I decided that before I ask the list i''d better upgrade to the latest xen code (famous last words). So I downloaded and installed xen-unstable-src.tgz as of 5/8. The boot process on the system now goes something like this: The xen part goes ok. The 2.6.16 kernel starts loading. Then

Is is possible to use the latest changeset and old linux kernel?
Hi, I tried to use the latest changeset of xen-unstable with an old linux kernel (2.6.16.33), because some of my codes are developed based on that Linux version. It seems that 2.6.18 changes quite a bit interfaces from 2.6.16.33. I set the "LINUX_VER = 2.6.16.33" in the file "buildconfigs/mk.linux-2.6-xen". When I did "make world", the xen builder did

Problem with Dell Poweredge 1850
All, I seem to be experiencing the same problem that Michal Urbanski talked about in an email dated March 24th with a subject of "hanging dell hardware". Looking through the archives I can not find any resolution to the problem. The specs on my machine are Dell Poweredge 1850 Dual Xeon 2.8s 1gig ram PERC 4e/SI raid controller in mirror configuration with 2 73 gb drives (uses the

XAPI on debian installation issue
Hi, I''m currently trying to install xapi on debian (unstable), following the following wiki page: http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XAPI_on_debian 1. Install squeeze 32-bits (it''s not specified on the wiki, but I guess it wont work with 64-bit as the xapi *.deb files are for 32). note: you must leave an unused 1mb partition somewhere when creating your

Resource temporarily unavailable on starting a vmx-domain
Hi all! today I tried to start a vmx-domain with latest unstable-src.tarball. I used the vmx-example-config and changed the filename of my disk-image-file. When I try to create that domain I get a (11, Resource temporarily unavailable) error message. Has anybody seen that and can tell me "what" resource is unavailable. I can''t find anything that could help me in the logs.

x86_64 Fedora Core 8 Xen source build fails - help!
I''ve updated a Fedora 8 kernel to 2.6.24.3-34.fc8 and am trying to put Xen into it from the Xen 3.2.0 source tarball. Eventual destination is an OpenSolaris box running x86_64 OpenSolaris 10. However, "make world" fails in the xen-3.2.0 directory. It seems to be searching for something called "linux-2.6.18-xen.hg". Linux 2.6.18 has nothing to do with it, so

SVN revision numbers
You will start to see SVN revision numbers appearing in the the R-devel version of R, for example R : Copyright 2005, The R Foundation for Statistical Computing Version 2.2.0 Under development (unstable) (2005-05-18 r34401) ISBN 3-900051-07-0 This has been done to enable us to track more precisely the sources used to build R: the date stamp is imprecise and sometimes gets to be

SATA detect fails on ICH7 chipset / Dell Poweredge SC430
Hi, I have a Dell Poweredge SC420 and a SC430. The SC420 has an ICH6 chipset and works ok with Xen. The SC430 has an ICH7 chipset and the SATA detection fails. I''ve tried 2.6.11.10 and 2.6.12.5 kernels, with Xen 2.0.7, Xen-testing and Xen-unstable, all with the same results. I''m using the same hypervisor and kernel binaries, so problems with the compiler environment etc. have

are Xen 3.1.0 kernels CVE-2007-4573 vulnerable
Does anyone know if the Xen 3.1.0 kernels as distributed in the "open source" tarballs (x86_64 version) are vulnerable to the recently-announced vulnerability CVE-2007-4573? IF so, is there any plan to release patched tarballs anytime soon? Thanks Steve Timm -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Steven C. SVN-REVSION altered when building R-devel out of tree from last snapshot
Hi, Today I downloaded and compiled the last R-devel snapshot. The SVN-REVISION in the tarball contains the following: Revision: 36792 Last Changed Date: 2005-12-18 But after compiling on Unix (I compiled out of tree), I ended up with an SVN-REVSION file containing: Revision: unknown Last Changed Date: Today in the build tree. Then when I start R, I get: R : Copyright Today, The
