domains flapping
Whilst tinkering with lvm (which now works great - thanks!), I made a typo which caused the domain to stop booting. I think it was just that I got the config file wrong in terms of which device mapped to which.
Anyway, I had specified ''restart=True'' and so the domain was starting to boot, failing, then restarting again. This was the expected behaviour, but it was a pain to kill.

''ser_baud=xxx'' option gone away
The Xen boot option ''ser_baud=<baud>'' has been removed from the
unstable tree. If you were still using this obsolete option then the
effect is that you will get no serial output when you boot Xen, which
may lead you to believe that there is a more serious problem.
To fix this you must move to the new boot option:
''com1=<baud>,8n1''

FTP server not on port 21 problems - I do have read the FAQ
Hi!
I use standard Bering 2.2.2. I am trying to get my FTP-server to work
with another portnumber than 21 (On port 21 all works great, but I´m
really interested in running two FTP-servers, so I want to figure this one
out first).
Read the FAQ: http://www.shorewall.net/FTP.html and now I got this setup:
In Rules: DNAT net loc:192.168.3.2 tcp 99
In Shorewalls modules.conf (tried

ftp daemon problem
New install of CentOS 4.1; our first try at the 4.x.
On previous 3.x installs we've used proftpd.
On this one we're using (trying to use is a better statement of what
we're going through) the default daemon, /usr/sbin/vsftpd.
But we don't get anywhere.

shaping passive ftp traffic
Hi,
I have tried unsuccesfully to limit my ftp server send speed in linux.
I have an ipcop linux firewall/router with 2 nics. 1 nic (eth1) is
connected to a 3mbit/384Kbit cable connection and the other (eth0) a
switch. Behind it i have a suse linux box and a windows box.
On the suse box i run proftpd. I need to shape my passive ftp send
speed to 34KBytes because if it is maxed out at 45K

Unable to do passive ftp after updating to 2.0.9
Hi,
I''m using the same set of firewall rules of 2.0.x
(sorry, I can''t remember the exact minor version) and
put it to work with 2.0.9. And now I can''t do passive
ftp (was working before).
I see that my NEWNOTSYN is set to Yes, and the
loc->net rule is blocking 1024:65535.
But I believe with the ip_conntrack_ftp, the passive
mode would be allowed, since

Passive FTP server
Hello everyone,
I run a Pure-FTP server on my DMZ. I can specify with Pure-ftp what ports
will be used for clients when they connect with passive mode. I entered
50000 50400, so I have enough for 200 users at the same time.
Then the pure-ftp website tells me to open up those ports on the firewall.
How do I do this? In my rules file is now something like:
ACCEPT net dmz:10.0.0.2 tcp

Mark on FTP passive traffic
Hi,
I use for a customer a Linux router/firewall with 1 internal interface
connected to the LAN and 3 external interfaces connected to 3 different
ISP. I use a kernel 2.6.17 with a routes patch from Julian Anastasov.
I mark outgoing FTP traffic for the routing.
With the rules below I do not have a problem with the active/normal FTP
to connect on FTP server.
But the passive FTP does not pass

FirewallD and FTP passive mode
Howdy
I'm trying to run FTP server behind firewall. And i can't enable passive
mode from the Internet. There are plenty howtos but there aren't many
with my combination.
For now i have configured port forwarding and ftp server itself.
On the router:
# firewall-cmd --list-all --zone=external
external (active)
interfaces: enp3s1
sources:
services: openvpn ssh
ports: 1194/tcp

FTP DNAT not working - "Server sent passive reply with unroutable address"
Hi all!
I am a long time lurker, but have not posted until now.
My old trusted firewall machine broke a couple of weeks ago and I replaced it
with a XEN domU that is using DNAT and has two interfaces. The firewall domU and
the FTP server domU are both guests on the same dom0. All three machines are
running Debian/etch (stable) and Shorewall has version 3.2.6.

FTP specific port forwarding
Hi
I've been looking at a both openssh and couple of commercial SSH
implementations(F-Secure and ssh comm.).
The one thing I see as missing is the "nice-to-have" feature of FTP
specific port forwarding.
The commercial implementations allows a syntax of "-L
ftp/<someport>:..." which does some "automagical" forwarding of the
data channel "under the

passive FTP trafic control
Hi All
How to classify packets belonging to a FTP session?
Port 21 session is easy. but what about data transfers? Their port numbers
(both) are above 1024.
I was thinking about ip_conntrack_ftp. Something like:
iptables -A FORWARD -p tcp --sport 1024: --dport 1024: \
-m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j CLASSIFY --set-class X:Y
But what if I also have ip_conntrack_irc, for instance.

shaping ftp traffic
I am trying to mark outbound passive ftp traffic with iptables and shape
it to 35KBytes. I am using the following script on the computer that
runs the ftp server.
It is not working correctly, it seems to limit ALL traffic. Cant file
share or anything.
Anyone might know what is wrong? It seems that I might need to add a
''lan limit'' so all traffic that is not marked still

marking and shaping outbound passive ftp traffic
Will the following rules work to mark and shape OUTBOUND ftp speed

I want to be able to run these commands on the actual computer that is
running the ftp server.
