64/32 auto select
One idea - how about making ISOLINUX swichable between IA32 and AMD64 automatically?
A sample config is like this.
-----------------------------------------
Under ISOLINUX.CFG:
label default
arch=IA32:
kernel=vmlinuz.32 initrd=image32.gz
arch=AMD64:
kernel=vmlinuz.64 initrd=image64.gz
-----------------------------------------
What is the merit?:

Award BIOS fault
Hello.
I found bug probably comes from BIOS fault.
It does not boot from CDROM if the PC has only CDROM drive but no HDD.
I mean, it can boot from CDROM if the PC has HDD but not boot if no HDD.
I think BIOS returns wrong info. But I appriciate if there comes workaround.
BTW, I got another problem -- I can not compile syslinux 3.07.
What version of nasm you use?

How do you pronounce 'Ogg Vorbis'?
Greets,
Every linux user that sets up a sound card using sndconfig heres Linus
pronouncing "Linux" - I confess that's how I learned to pronounce it
right, until then I prononced it 'l-EYE-nucks' - I was wondering -
what's the correct pronounciation of 'Ogg Vorbis'?
I pronounce it 'OOOg' (a long 'O' sound or a portuguese 'U' if you

Resetting network device / skb leak
hi,
I seem to have a problem with the Linux xen-network driver leaking skbs.
This is probably my own fault, upon resumption after migration I call
this:
void network_resume(void)
{
struct net_device* dev = __dev_get_by_name("eth0");
MOD_DEC_USE_COUNT;
network_open(dev);
}
-- which works fine. However, in network_open() the call to
NETOP_RESET_RINGS seems to clear all the

Problem with DemoCD 1.2
Hello.
I''ve downloaded and burned the Xen DemoCD 1.2. It boots fine,
and generally seems to work well. However, when I try to create
a domain via xc_dom_create.py I get an ImportError (from a python module
I''m guessing). Problem is that it can''t open the libxc.so.1.2 shared object.
And sure enough, it''s not there. libxc.so is in /usr/lib, but not

Booting UDF?
Greetings,
I wonder whether there are any plans to build udflinux or the likes.
I've searched through the mailing list, finding out that should I create
a mixed ISO9660/UDF filesystem.
Unfortunately, that is not an option if I want to use a significant
feature of UDF filesystem, which is writing. Making a mixed ISO9660/UDF,
using mkisofs -udf, will (to my best knowledge) not allow me to

Short demo CD image
Hi,
While investigating why the Xen 1.2 Demo CD won''t boot on a particular
laptop, I noticed the download image appears to be truncated. "isoinfo
-d -i xendemo-1.2.iso" reports:
Logical block size is: 2048
Volume size is: 294080
That would suggest the image size should be 294080 * 2048 = 602275840
bytes. However I only have 292376 * 2048 = 598786048 bytes. The web

openMosix and R: File I/O issues?
Hi there,
We're attempting to run an LVQ analysis over a cluster of machines via R
and openMosix. R spawns several child processes simply by writing
commands to several files and using system() to start a slave process.
The processes migrate perfectly, and often finish with no reported
errors, writing their results into respective files for the parent
process to piece together.

Role of Xen/Xenolinux in New IO networking
I know I have asked this before, but I am having trouble understanding
the role of each component in the new 1.3 world:
In 1.3 networking if Xen has no devices, and domain 0 owns and operates
the NIC - does Xen have any role at all in networking for the guest
OS''s?
Which network device driver will a guest OS use?
Do all the vnetif rules defined in Domain 0 now get interpreted by

faster booting with Xen
Hello.
I am working on developing faster booting.
check this first -> http://www.machboot.com/
How about using Xen suspend feature to achieve faster booting?
Technically, suspending and booting is totally different technology,
but in the view point from usage, it acts as almost same stuff.
I mean, you boot a distribution on Xen VM, then you make a
suspend image, and then resume the image

Dom0 for usual use
Do you have any measurement result about performance difference
between native linux kernel and Dom0 linux kernel?
I guess the difference must be few, probably you can not measure it.
Why I have interest about this issue is,
if Dom0 kernel is almost same as native kernel, why you dont use Dom0
kernel for usual use? Even you dont fork anu DomU, but you have no reason
to use normal kernel, although

[LLVMdev] LLVM and OpenC++
Hi OpenC++ developers,
IMHO, the LLVM project (http://llvm.cs.uiuc.edu/) could give
a second breath to OpenC++ project. Indeed, the implementations
of reflection become quite restricted if the just-in-time (JIT)
compiling is not available.
Am i wrong?

hello,
I wonder where the Xen''s name came from? I looked at the Xen FAQ, and

later two options :)
