winbind nsswitch problem
Greetings list,
I'm using samba 3.0.23a on a Fedora Core 5 system in a member server
role in an Active Directory domain (security ads). My problem is that,
although wbinfo -u and -g work great and can pull user and group lists
respectively from AD, getent passwd and getent group do not. I've
configured passwd: files winbind and group: files winbind in
nsswitch.conf, and have

CentOS 5.3 samba: getent does not return data from the active directory (ads)
CentOS 5.3 getent does not return data from the active directory (ads)
I have installed and configured kerberos and samba so that the
server can be a member of an existing Active Directory (AD). Correct
configuration of kerbos was verified using kinit and klist. The samba
configuration was verified by using "smbclient -k -L server". winbind
was verified by using "wbinfo

Since committing that diff I've heard of people running in production
with no root password (ie *LK*, !! or similar).

Synchronize Unix/SMB passwords with 'synchpasswd'
Hi,
It's been a while since I created my smbpasswd file, and therefore
it is
no longer in synch with my Unix file. I've added and removed users over time,
and now I need a way to update the 'smbpasswd' file without losing the
encrypted passwords that are already in place (ie. I don't want to just run
'makesmbpasswd.sh' again).
So, I've written the
