Bug 7892 fixed in Samba 3.5.6
Hello,
I use Debian Squeeze with Samba 3.5.6. I do experience problems that
might be related to those described in bug 7892 that can be found found
here: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7892
I could not find any information about this bug being fixed in Samba
3.5.x. In the realease notes of Samba 3.4.10 I found this: '* BUG 7892:
Fix stale lock in open_file_fchmod().' As

Debian users: which samba bugs fixed in 3.5.8 would you like to see fixed in Debian 6.0 "squeeze"?
Hello,
I'm one of the maintainers of samba packages in Debian.
As of now, Debian squeeze provides samba 3.5.6. As per Debian policy
wrt updates in the "stable" releases of the distribution, providing
3.5.8 (and later) is not an option we'll be considering for future
updates. The policy of our release team is indeed more conservative
than the policy of the Samba Team (no offense

Samba bug 7818 / Debian bug 603729 RESOLVED finally (I think)
I thought I would post this in case it might be of help to someone else
who has experienced winbind crashes since moving to 3.5.x.
Back in November 2010, after upgrading to Samba 3.5.x, I started
experiencing repeated winbind crashed resulting in the generation of
"winbind_cache.corrupt" files. I was premature in saying the problem
was resolved and the bugs could be closed because

Lost performance between Samba 3.0.24 and 3.5.8 with high number of concurrent connections
Hi,
We are trying upgrade our roaming profile sever from Debian Etch to Debian
Squeeze. That's means a upgrade from Samba 3.0.24 to Samba 3.5.8. Our
production environment has above 600 concurrent users without problem. After
upgrade to Samba 3.5.8, server can't manage above 200 users. With
'smbclient', the output is:
Error [user] session setup failed: Call timed out: server did

Lock order violation and file lost
I will probably file a bug about this, but perhaps someone here will
have some ideas.
We have a problem with files being deleted instead of being saved when
making changes in Microsoft Excel. The log shows an error of:
'Lock order violation'. This is with Samba 4.1.6 and happens on both
Linux (2.6.25-14.fc9.i686) and Solaris 10. No such problem when running
Samba 3.6.22.
We have a setup

Unable to create principle and join domain with solaris / samba 3.5.8
Has anyone had any success using net ads join to create a new service
principal and join Active Directory using samba 3.5.8. This works fine
in 3.0.35 but I'm not able to get a working create/join with 3.5.8
In samba 3.0.35 (on a host which is already allowing kerberised
loginsvia AD), the following works:
net ads join createupn='CIFS/host.domain.com' \

Quota Problem with Samba 3.5.8
Hello,
for some strange reason I can not get quota to work with Samba 3.5.8.
The quoata system itself works fine (using "repquota /mountpoint") and via
NFS, but Samba does not report the correct free space (df command in
smbclient).
Instead the real free space on the disk volume is shown to smb clients
(tested from Windows and smbclient).
The quotasystem in use is the new quota

Solaris Samba 3.5.8 [homes] configuration - intermittent connection failures
Our Solaris 5.10 was running Samba 3.0 with ADS security against winbind
and krb5.conf, and all users were able to access it from any Windows system.
Following the upgrade to a new AD server running 2008 RC2, we had to
upgrade samba on most Unix systems. On Solaris, the new version was 3.5.8
from Sun.
I found more config options were required to get the [homes] section to
succeed, although

No admin privileges after upgrade from 3.5.8 to 3.6.0rc3
Hi,
since I was bitten badly by this today, I take the additional time to
report this issue here.
After upgrading from samba 3.5.8 to 3.6.0rc3, Administrator on the xp
clients (yes, still xp sp3, no vista, no win7 clients here) lost its
admin privileges.
My Samba PDC setup evolved over about a decade now, but since it still
needs to support a small environment only (20 xp, 30 users), I

Hello,
I am trying to get samba-3.5.8 to compile with cups on a Red Hat 5.3 or 6.0. When I use the following configure command I see
