R CMD check problem with R 3.0.2
Using SUSE Linux, Windows 32 bit and Windows 64 bit R 3.0.2 , I am unable to use R CMD check successfully. Here is the Windows 64 bit report: Z:\R\source\effects>R CMD check pkg * using log directory 'Z:/R/source/effects/pkg.Rcheck' * using R version 3.0.2 (2013-09-25) * using platform: x86_64-w64-mingw32 (64-bit) * using session charset: ISO8859-1 * checking for file

new version 2.0-0 of the sem package
Dear R users, Jarrett Byrnes and I would like to announce version 2.0-0 of the sem package for fitting observed- and latent-variable structural equation models. This is a general reworking of the original sem package (which is still available on R-Forge as package sem1). Some highlights of sem 2.0-0 include: o More convenient and compact model specification, including the default automatic

declaring nonS3method
If Martin's proposal for declaring non-S3 methods in NAMESPACE is feasible, it would be very helpful. The packages we support have multiple examples of unfortunately named functions non-S3 functions, so creating a route for migrating them into compliance would be great. best, -skye On 06/12/2015 03:00 AM, r-package-devel-request at r-project.org wrote: > Message: 11 > Date: Fri,

new version of the Rcmdr package
Dear R users, I'd like to announce a new version, 1.8-1, of the Rcmdr package. The Rcmdr ("R Commander") package provides a basic-statistics graphical user interface (GUI) to R, implemented in Tcl/Tk via the standard R tcltk package. Beyond small changes and additions, the new version of the Rcmdr package uniformly implements a feature, first available in version 1.7-0, that

version 3.0-0 of the sem now on CRAN
Dear R users, Version 3.0-0 of the sem package is now on CRAN. From the package NEWS file: o Compiled code for optimization. o Added multi-group models. o Modification indices for equality-constrained parameters. o weights argument added to tsls(). o raw argument added to cfa(). Of these changes, the first two are the most significant, and the first -- the use of compiled code to

using predict() with poly(x, raw=TRUE)
Dear r-devel list members, I've recently encountered the following problem using predict() with a model that has raw-polynomial terms. (Actually, I encountered the problem using model.frame(), but the source of the error is the same.) The problem is technical and concerns the design of poly(), which is why I'm sending this message to r-devel rather than r-help. To illustrate:

OpenMX structural equation software
Dear R users, The OpenMx developer team takes great pride in announcing the availability of OpenMx 1.0. The team would like to express its gratitude to the large number of beta-testers who have helped us improve the code. Thank you. sem package (version 2.1-1)
Dear R users, Version 2.1-1 of the sem package, for structural equation modeling, is now on CRAN. Unlike version 2.0-0, which was a major overhaul of the package, version 2.1-1 just sprinkles some syntactic sugar on it, introducing the specifyEquations() and cfa() functions; specifyEquations() supports model specification in equation (rather than path) format, and cfa() facilitates compact

testing a Windows custom installer
Dear R-devel list members, For several years, I've created a custom R installer for my students who use Windows. When I test the installer on my own Windows machines, selections in the installation dialogs reflect my previous choices, which I suppose are saved in the Windows registry. I'd like to be able to see what a student who has never installed R before will see, to verify that an

new book on R and S-PLUS
Dear R and S list members: I've just published a book entitled An R and S-PLUS Companion to Applied Regression. The book introduces R and S-PLUS in the context of linear and generalized-linear models, and assumes familiarity with -- or a simultaneous course or text on -- these topics. I thought that the book might be of interest to the members of these lists or to their students. More

New car package with new linear.hypothesis function
Dear R-packages list members, Last month, Peter Muhlberger posted a message to the r-help list that suggested, among other things, a desire for a more convenient method of performing Wald tests for statistical models fit in R. Thanks largely to Achim Zeleis's help, the linear.hypothesis function in the car package has been reworked so that (1) it is applicable to any model object that

version 2.0-0 of the effects package
Dear R users, I'd like to announce version 2.0-0 of the effects package, which is now on CRAN. The package constructs graphical and tabular "effect displays," e.g., of interactions, for several kinds of models. These displays are generalizations of "adjusted" means in linear models. The major addition to the package is the ability to display terms in multinomial and

Building a custom Windows installer
Dear r-devel list members, It's been several years since I last built a custom Windows installer for R, and despite my notes and the instructions in Sections 3.1.7 and D.4 of the R Installation and Administration Manual, I've run into a problem, receiving the following error message: ----------- snip ----------- C:\R\src\R-2.11.1\src\gnuwin32\installer>make myR
