RSetReg.exe
R v2.3.0 patched from today: Was just checking out the RSetReg.exe
application after reading about it in "R for Windows FAQ":
"After installation you can add the Registry entries in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE by running RSetReg.exe in the bin folder, and
remove them by running this with argument /U. Note that this requires
administrative privileges and neither sets up nor removes the file

Possible uninstall problem on windows.
I just uninstalled R 2.7.2 on Windows XP after having installed R 2.8.0
The uninstaller removed the String values
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\R-core\R\Current Version
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\R-core\R\InstallPath
despite the fact that they pointed to R 2.8.0
The uninstaller did not remove the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\R-core\R\2.7.2
(and all the values in that key)
I think the

New version of batchfiles 0.2-9

to produce a file newer than its input the script is

Problem downloading webpages using batchfiles and RCurl from command line in Vista Basic - couldn't connect to host
Dear all,
I am having a problem downloading webpages through R when i run it in
the DOS window under Windows Vista Basic. I have downloaded the
batchfiles from http://code.google.com/p/batchfiles/ and have
successfully set the PATH.
I open up 'Command Prompt' in Vista and type (after the C:\...>
stuff):

regex problems with the escape character
Hi R-users and R-experts,
I am having a hard time in figuring out how to tackle regex questions where the "backslash" character is an integral part of the string. Let me explain how I?came across?this problem :
I wanted to clearly see all the components in the windows environmental path variable. This is a long string.?For easy readability, I wanted to split up this string so that each

Asunto: Reporting a conflict between ADMB and Rtools on Windows systems
Hi,
I have to work under Windows, it's a company policy.
I've just found that there is a conflict between tools used to build R packages (Rtools) and ADMB due to the need to put Rtools compiler's

TeX distribution on Windows
I'm looking for a Windows distribution of TeX that works with R, after a
few years' absence from Windows. On Duncan Murdoch's Rtools page fptex is
still recommended, but it turns out that fptex is "defunct" as of May 2005,
see
http://www.metz.supelec.fr/~popineau/xemtex-7.html
So, what is suggested? TUG (tug.org) recommends something called proTeXt,
which is said to be

Issues with TMPDIR/TEMP/TMP? Failure of R CMD check under Windows 7
Dear helpeRs,
on my Windows 7 laptop, I have problems getting R CMD check to work. I
believe it did work completely before, but I am not sure.
Yesterday it almost worked, except for the tests: These were aborted
because of a complaint that the temporary directory wasn't available. I
played with windows environment variables for the temporary directory,
but that didn't solve it.

Package Building under Windows with MikTeX 2.6
Dear WizaRds,
I wrote a small function in R and would like to create a package. The
necessary documentation is done, Rtools etc. are installed and I am
still unable to complete the process under Windows. I did extensive
research in the archives and read the Murdoch-Sutherland website on the
Rtools and MikTeX hints. I realize that I understand only half or less
of what is said there

when I start up the R and I execute o follow code:
> ls()
character(0)
> x=123
> assign("test_x", x, envir = .GlobalEnv )
> ls()
[1] "test_x" "x"
> setwd('C:\\R\\etc')
> save.image('TEST.RData')
> q('no')
I have two different behaviours:
