[R-pkgs] Introducing pedgene 1.2 on CRAN
Dear useRs: We would like to introduce the "pedgene" package, version 1.2, available now on CRAN, with a brief manual available as a vignette: http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/pedgene/index.html The pedgene package performs gene-level kernel and burden association tests with disease status and continuous response for pedigree data, as described in our recent paper: Schaid, D.

Problem in library.dynam problems on Linux
We have R 2.2.1 installed on a Linux cluster that seems to have problems loading either of our shared object libraries for packages. This seems to be happening on both local and global versions of packages that we install. However, we have only noticed this problem in the past 3 months on this R installation, whereas some users had success before then. It could be that something on our system

C dynamic library error on Solaris 7
I am on Solaris 7, using R_1.7.1 developing packages for both Splus and R. We have a working R-package for haplo.score and now converting to haplo.stats. R CMD INSTALL -l /people/biostat3/sinnwell/Rdir/library haplo.stats_1.1.0.tar.gz works like a charm-- as comparable to our working version of haplo.score. But problems are when I'm loading the library within R. Within my package I have

I'm really clueless how to fix this: System: Solaris 7, Software: R_1.7.1 for unix > R CMD INSTALL -l /Rdir/library haplo.stats_1.1.0.tar.gz -works like a charm-- no syntax errors, etc But problems are when I'm loading the library within R. > library(haplo.stats, lib.loc="/people/biostat3/sinnwell/Rdir/library") > Error

R CMD Sd2Rd
Using R 1.8.1 on Solaris Developing an Splus and R package from the same files. Creating an alias for multiple functions to the same file in .sgml: <s-topics> <s-topic> my.function </s-topic> <s-topic> print.my.function </s-topic> </s-topics> using R CMD Sd2Rd would convert to: \name{my.function} \alias{my.function} \name{print.my.function}

perl script in exec/
Dear useRs- I am developing a package that uses output from stand-alone unix software programs. I use multiple perl scripts to process the output and make it ready for reading into R. I would like to keep the perl scripts in the designated place for such files, exec/, but I can't find how a user is supposed to be able to use those when using the library. R-exts 1.1.4:

R-version of haplo.score uploaded to CRAN
I've just uploaded an R version of Daniel Schaid's 'haplo.score' library (from http://www.mayo.edu/statgen/) to CRAN. >From the DESCRIPTION file: [haplo.score is a] suite of routines that can be used to compute score statistics to test associations between haplotypes and a wide variety of traits, including binary, ordinal, quantitative, and Poisson. These methods assume

load data for mypkg-Ex.R
Using R 1.7.1 in Solaris I'm developing a package for both Splus and R, and I'm trying to use all the same files for R and Splus, both function files and help files. I have two questions. 1) The file made by R CMD check to run .Rd-examples posts examples from files in alphabetical order. Is it okay/recommended/common-practice to set up all the example data in the first two

Sd2Rd command (PR#7791)
Full_Name: Eric Lunde Version: 2.0.1 OS: Solaris 9 Submission from: (NULL) (129.176.151.21) Hi R Devel, I am assisting one of my fellow R users who is developing a package for both Splus and R. He has been using the Sd2Rd command to convert his sgml help files into Rd help files. We believe we have found a bug. We noticed that if an sgml help file has multiple <s-topic> tags, each of

A question about GRAMMAR calculations in the FAM_MDR algorithm
Dear R developers: I am a PHD candidate student in the school of public health of Peking University and my major is genetic epidemiology. I am learning the FAM-MDR algorithm, which is used to detect the gene-gene and gene-environment interactions in the data of pedigree. The codes were written by Tom Cattaert of the University of Liege. The algorithms and the sample datasets are available at

More info - S-Plus compatability
Dear all, Thanks to those of you who have replied, the majority of the comments pointed out that the error caused by scan may originate from another function, and closer inspection of the output from traceback() reveals that it is in fact the read.table function where the error is originating from the full output of which I have included below. The error msg I recieve is Error in

animal models and lme
Hi, You should look at Pinheiro and Bates (2000) Mixed-effects models in S and S-Plus. It describes how to format the correlation matrix to pass to functions lme and gls. Basically, the correlation matrix has to be one of the corStruct classes, probably corSymm for your example. So in the call to lme (or gls if you really have no random effects), use something like:

Transfer hangs, both sides waiting on receive
Hi, We're encountering a rather weird, sporadic hang during a large-file transfer. A bit of background on the setup: - Host A rsyncs a MySQL database from Host B. Both sides use rsync 3.1.1 on Debian Jessie. - Host B serves the files using rsync --daemon from an ext4 filesystem residing on a thin LVM snapshot. - Host A uses the following command to rsync the files to a btrfs

Anyone have experience with kinship pedigree plot?
Hello, I am using the Kinship package to draw a pedigree plot. I am trying to control the spacing between individuals in the pedigree. Currently, it is drawing a pedigree with too little space, so the text is overlapping. I'd like to increase the distance between individuals. According to the documentation, I would expect the following to be relevant:
