Confidence interval bars on Lattice barchart with groups
I am trying to add confidence (error) bars to lattice barcharts (and
dotplots, and xyplots). I found this helpful message from Deepayan
Sarkar and based teh code below on it:
http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/R/Rhelp02a/archive/50299.html
However, I can't get it to work with groups, as illustrated. I am sure I
am missing something elementary, but I am unsure what.
Using R 2.1.1 on various

Lattice problems / cannot load lattice
Hi,
My problem is simple: since having updated the lattice package, I cannot
load lattice anymore. If I type in the command 'library(lattice)' the
loading fails with the following message:

Error in library.dynam(lib, package, package.lib) :

In addition: Warning messages:

dotplot as a background for multiple barchart plots (with Lattice)
Hi R users,
I'm kind stuck in my R experience...
I want to have a multiple barchart with n windows, but with the same
background for each window, and I want that background to be a recorded
dotplot.
First, is it possible ?
If so, I guess I have to call a record plot in the panel function but how ?
As there is no panel.plot and I can't use the recorded plot as an
argument for the

Re: RE Vertical bars with barchart()
Hi,
[I'mm cc-ing r-help on this, since some others might be interested (Tony
Rossini is, at least)]
Yes, I saw your mail and was wondering about what would be the best approach
to do it. It's definitely not trivial, mainly because Trellis is not designed
to handle factors on the x-axis (chiefly for convenience, as factors typically
have long names which are difficult to write on the

Requesting help with lattice again
Hello, this is a request for assistance that I submitted earlier, this time
with the dataset. My mistake for taking up bandwidth. I've also rephrased
the question to address an additional concern.
I'm working on a windows XP machine with R 2.8.1
1). I'd like a barchart (or other lattice type display) HSI ~ of the three
factors (Region, Scenario and HydroState).

make a lattice dotplot with symbol size proportional to a variable in the plotted dataframe
Handling NSE in these kinds of examples is a pain in lattice. I would
suggest using with() and dropping the data argument for simple examples,
e.g.,
dd |> mutate(new.proportion = las/total, new.bubble = total/100) |>
with(dotplot(agency ~ new.proportion, pch = 16, cex = new.bubble))
But if you care about multi-panel plots, you also need to be careful about
making sure that the

{Lattice} help.
Hi All,
I have a 4-dimensional data. I'm using barchart() function from lattice
package. The R code and data are below - code includes one for stack=TRUE
and other for stack=FALSE.
I would like to present the data in another form which would be plotting
Factor3 levels (P, Q, R, S) as two stacked bars (side by side). Like, for
each level of Factor1 there should be two bars: first bar showing

I assume you want the 'v' variable in panel.abline() to be interpreted
in the context of your x-axis, which here represents a factor
variable. Unless two factor variables have the same

error bars in lattice barchart
Hi all,
I've read the emails of Dan, Deepayan and Sundar about adding error bars to
the lattice plots (
https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2006-October/114883.html), but I still
have the problem when I want to adding error bars to barchart. I tried both
the solution of Deepayan and Sundar but without luck. Here is my code (I
changed prepanel.ci and panel.ci a little to plot bars

Change in lattice dotplot?
Dear list,
I used to have this code in a Sweave document:
sel <- placeDF$Place == "Velar" & placeDF$manner == "Plosive"
table(placeDF$agem[sel], placeDF$place[sel]) -> pd
print(
dotplot(
prop.table(pd,margin=1),
auto.key=list(
space="right"
),

Non-standard evaluation, used widely in formula-interface functions as
well as the tidyverse. with() in my example is a less nuanced version
of this. See

barchart (lattice) with text labels
I would like to place the value for each bar in barchart (lattice) at
the top of each bar. Something like the following code produces.
library(lattice)

{
panel.barchart(x, y, ...)
panel.text(x, y, labels=as.character(round(x,2)), ...)
}
myprepanelfunc <- function(x, y, ...) list(xlim=c(0, max(x)+.1))

barchart in lattice
Dear all,
I have two factors 'country' and 'status' which I would like to plot via barchart (lattice).
'status' consist of three different levels and should be the grouping variable, i.e. there
should be drawn three different panels and within each panel a barchart of 'country'.

Hi,
I recently discovered this buglet in lattice: If lattice is _not_
attached, I get

This happens because of this:

drop unused levels in lattice dotplot axis?
Hi list, I have a data set - something like this
dfr <- data.frame(A=factor(letters[1:25]),B=runif(25), C=sample(LETTERS[1:4],25,replace=TRUE))
and I want to create a dotplot:
library(lattice)dotplot(A ~ B | C, data=dfr, scales=list(y=list(relation="free")))
but this puts uneven spaces along the y-axis in each panel. drop.unused.levels=TRUE will drop conditioning

lattice-Internal
Hi,
The functions prepanel.default.bwplot() and lpretty() are not running in Deepayan's
barley example concerning vertical bars with the lattice function barchart().
Why, is there a restricted use for the package lattice-Internal?
