Alternative to .Internal(.dfltStop(msg, call))?
Hi, I'm looking for a way to generate a "full stop" that will not be caught by signal handlers, cf. .Internal(.dfltStop(msg, call)). RATIONALE: In the R.oo package I have throw() which (leaving out some details) basically does what stop() does but appends a stack trace string to the error message that shows up at the R prompt. Example: bar <- function() throw("A foo

2.3.1: interacting bugs in load() and gzfile() (PR#9271)
Hello, If repeated calls are made to save() using the same pre-opened gzfile connection to a file, and then the connection is closed, the objects saved by the second and subsequent calls are not correctly restored by repeated calls to load() with a new gzfile connection to the same file. What follows are a session exposing the bugs, analysis (see ANALYSIS), patches (see PATCHES), and a session

Reference Classes: strange behavior when trying to change class def in the same R session
Dear list, I'm getting some strange behavior with Reference Classes every once in a while and I can't really put my finger on the cause. It'd be great if someone using Reference Classes could check if he/she experiences similar problems: The thing is that when I alter the definition of a Reference Class in a running R session and source the respective file containing the class

method dispatch and in-place modification? - unclass, RemoveClass, getDataPart, method dispatch
I have a little problem about method dispatch and "unnessary" copying. Basically what I would like to do is: `[.myclass` <- function(x, i,j, extraopt=TRUE/FALSE, drop=TRUE) { ...do stuff depending on extraopt... value <- Nextmethod("[", x, i,j, drop=TRUE) ... do more stuff depending on extraopt... } I have two general problems: (1) NextMethod() really

How to browse all the functions in a package?
'?removeClass' shows that 'removeClass' is from package 'package:methods'. Is there a command which can show me all the functions and the classed defined in a package such as 'package:methods'?

Multivariate time series in R 3 vs R 2
Hello! Recently I got report that my package mar1s doesn't pass checks any more on R 3.0.2. I started to investigate and found the following difference in multivariate time series handling in R 3.0.2 compared to R 2 (I've checked on 2.14.0). Suppose I wish to calculate seasonal component for time series. In case of multivariate time series, I wish to process each column independently.

writing to gzfile: segmentation fault (PR#2347)
Full_Name: Vadim Ogranovich Version: Version 1.6.0 (2002-10-01) OS: Red Hat 7.1 Submission from: (NULL) (209.99.241.1) The following sequence of commands crashes my R session. The first weirdness happens after the second command that appears not to change the "foo.gz" file, no error generated. > con <- gzfile("foo.gz", open="w"); cat("goo\n",

ts in R (again)
I have done a re-working of the time series code in base R and library ts that will appear in Friday's snapshot. I am sure at least one person will be dissatisfied, but I am convinced there are fewer errors than there were before (I found more than 20, as well as several documented features that did not exist.) The principles in the code are: tsp attributes can only go on vectors of length

Read.dcf with no newline ending: gzfile drops last line
I don't know if this is a bug per se, but an undesired behavior in read.dcf. read.dcf takes a file argument and passes it to gzfile if it's a character: if (is.character(file)) { file <- gzfile(file) on.exit(close(file)) } This gzfile connection is passed to readLines (line #39): lines <- readLines(file) If no newline is at the end of the file, readLines

solve_TSP ignores control data, or I'm reading the help doc incorrectly.
I read the documentation below to mean that: solve_TSP( tsp_input, '2-opt', rep=99 ) will use the 2-opt method on the tsp_input variable 99 times. Catch: I get an "unused input" error. Q: Am I reading the docs (Item 1, below) correctly or is this a problem with solve_TSP ignoring its inputs (Item 2, below). Item 1: solve_TSP doc: > library(TSP) >

A warning in gzcon but not in gzfile
Hi all, I used `gzfile` and `gzcon` to read a compressed file but I found that `gzcon` gave me a different result than `gzfile`. It seems like the `gzcon` does not handle the data correctly. I have posted an example below. In the example, a portion of a compressed file is downloaded from Google Cloud as a raw vector, and the data is saved into a temp file. If I use ` gzfile` to read the file, it

getting corrupted data when using readBin() after seek() on a gzfile connection
Hi, I'm running into more issues when reading data from a gzfile connection. If I read the data sequentially with successive calls to readBin(), the data I get looks ok. But if I call seek() between the successive calls to readBin(), I get corrupted data. Here is a (hopefully) reproducible example. See my sessionInfo() at the end (I'm not on Windows, where, according to the man page,

kernapply.ts
I have a suggestion for kernapply for ts objects. When we choose the option circular=F, the returned series don't have the correct dates. The removed dates are all at the beginning instead of half at the beginning and half at the end. It is particularly useful when we need to smooth the series (or remove a trend using a filter) before estimating a model (like in macroeconomics) or simply

error when calling seek() twice on a gzfile connection
Hi, I get an "internal error" when calling seek() twice on a gzfile connection. Create a gzip file: bigraw <- sample(charToRaw("abcdef"), 30000000, replace=TRUE) save(bigraw, file="bigraw.rda") Open it: con <- gzfile("bigraw.rda", "rb") Then: > seek(con, where=1) [1] 0 > seek(con, where=24980000) [1] 1

readLines() behaves differently for gzfile connection

"tsp<-"
If value is NULL I think tsp assignment should not return a class ts object. Below is a fixed version. Paul Gilbert ____ "tsp<-" <-function(x, value) {if (is.null(value)) {attr(x, "tsp") <- value if(inherits(x,"ts")) class(x) <- NULL return(x) } attr(x, "tsp") <- value class(x) <- "ts" x }
