will soon be visible there in
http://www.cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/base
and by Monday should be available on all the mirrors.
See the CHANGES file for windows-specific news about this release. A
number of minor bugs have been fixed.

Bug in Rd2dvi.sh (or doc error)? (PR#3422)
In 1.7.1 and today's r-patched in Windows, starting a continuation
line with a tab in a DESCRIPTION file causes the continuation to be
lost. For example, I have this file:
Package: orientlib
Title: Support for orientation data
Version: 0.2
Author: Duncan Murdoch
Description: Representations, conversions and display of orientation
SO(3) data.
See the orientlib help topic for details.

Windows binary for R 1.6.1 FIXED
To Windows R users:
The binary build of R that I uploaded on Tuesday contained errors in
the compiled HTML help files and some of the PDF versions of the
manuals. In particular, the index was missing from the CHM files, and
the table of contents was missing from at least one of the manuals.
I've since found the error in my setup, and have rebuilt the
distribution. I uploaded it to CRAN

Where does R search when source() ?
I have found the use of save( ) and attach( ) when supported by a pair
of functions written by my colleague John Miyamoto, move( ) and rm.sv( )
quite useful in managing (1) collections of useful homebrew functions,
(2) project workspaces, and (3) "packages" under development. An .Rdata
file containing these and other handy functions together with a brief
supporting document can be

Wrongly checked MD5 checksums in R 3.2.0's windows binary
Hi Duncan,
Thank you for the clarification. :)
I ended up removing these files from being scanned in the updated version
of installr. I would rather focus on supporting an MD5 scan that is based
on what is listed in MD5 file itself (ignoring exceptions that are not
clearly stated in the file).
