uploaded hdf5 and R 0.65.1 RPMs
Dear everybody: HDF5, a dataset formatting library, and R that is built with it, have been uploaded to ftp://ftp-fis.iarc.fr/pub/incoming. The R RPM uses the spec file created by Martyn Plummer as a starting point, and makes only a few trivial changes. -rw-rw-r-- 1 ftp 100 3416612 Oct 6 17:45 R-base-with-hdf5-0.65.1-1.i386.rpm -rw-rw-r-- 1 ftp 100 2300453 Oct 6 17:48

OCFS & Red Hat AS 4
Any comments on using OCFS with the newly released Red Hat AS 4? Since this version is based on the 2.6 kernel (2.6.9, I believe,) will that present any issues with the internals of OCFS? Or is OCFS 2 close enough to production status to wait for it, instead. TIA. -- Gashaw Teshome Senior Systems Specialist FIS - LAUSD 213-633-8138

dgamma in WinBUGS and JAGS (rjags)
Hello, In WinBUGS 1.4 manual (http://www.mrc-bsu.cam.ac.uk/bugs/winbugs/manual14.pdf), the gamma density is presented as dgamma(r,mu) where r and mu are the shape and rate parameters, respectively. In JAGS (rjags) manual version 1.0.2, May 9, 2008 (http://www-fis.iarc.fr/~martyn/software/jags/jags_user_manual.pdf), on page 26 the gamma density is presented as dgamma(mu,r) instead of dgamma(r,mu).

Where do my RPMs actually go, and is it different for Red Hat builds?
I'm trying to install themes for KDE. In doing so, I came across the following web site which seems to have the themes I want as RPMs: http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/17/dept/3/idg/User+Interface_Desktop The theme I want is called "Thinkeramik", and it has the following versions, for various Red Hat builds: thinkeramik-3.2.1-1.0.el3.kde.i386.rpm RedHat EL 3

I have also upgraded to the latest R version (0.64.1-2 rpm) and have also installed the corresponding GNOME rpm. However, I am not able to start R: [cribari at edgeworth install]$ R /usr/lib/R/bin/R.binary: error in loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/R/bin/R.binary: undefined symbol: __setfpucw [cribari at

Trying to install rjags on Mac OS X 10.5
Greetings, I wonder if anyone can offer any help or advice--even direction to an appropriate source of advice. I am trying to install rjags 1.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.5 (see http://www-fis.iarc.fr/~martyn/software/jags/). I have R.app 2.6.1 installed. JAGS 1.0.1 is apparently successfully installed. I (think I) know this because when I type 'jags' into Terminal, I get the following:

Hi All, I am running quantile regression in a "for loop" starting with 1 variable and adding a variable at a time reaching a maximum of 20 variables. it appears that by default some Apple configuration is assumed, since a simple make complains GNUmakefile:16: /CoreOS/Standard/Standard.make: No such file or directory We started with a subversion checkout, in case it matters. --------------------------------------------------------------------+ Thomas Plum, Plum Hall Inc, 3 Waihona Box 44610, Kamuela HI 96743 USA tplum at plumhall.com

FAQ for Red Hat 6.x is now confusing with RHEL 6.0 and 6.1 releases.
The old entry in the FAQ, quoted below, is now confusing through no fault of the FAQ author. > 3.5 - Password authentication doesn't work (eg on Slackware 7.0 or Red Hat 6.x) The problem is that Red Hat has now published Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 and 6.1, normally written RHEL 6.0. Some software purchasers and new admins are not aware that Red Hat 6.0 was actually the name of a much

FerretHash
Dave, thank you so much for the 0.11 release(s). You have solved many problems for me. As part of my appreciation for your good works, I am offering up for public consideration a silly little class that I wrote. (Code is below.) This class offers a simplified Hash-like interface to (a very restricted subset of) Ferret. Hence I call it FerretHash. FerretHash comes with its very own pet Ferret
