R-beta: V&R libraries, tree for 0.62.2, R Complements for V&R
Versions of the V&R libraries, VR_5.3pl025-1.tar.gz, and of tree_0.2-2.tar.gz (giving most of the functionality of S's tree system including all that I have ever used) are now available on CRAN's Vienna node, and will propagate. There is an early draft of an R user's complements on Venables & Ripley available from http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/MASS2/Compl.shtml This is

I now have versions of code that is destined (I believe) for 0.63 which is in a suitable state for comment. The files are at ftp://ftp.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/R (Our www server is being moved, so may be intermittently down, but this ftp server should be stable.) All are R packages, for the moment for personal use only (no re-distribution). Use with 0.62.3 or 0.63 (although I am aware of some

Handling of offsets in glm is really inconsistent.
[Copied to R-devel for information] This applies to all versions of R I have: 0.62.2, 0.62.3, 0.63. Great care seems needed with glms with offsets, as many things seem wrong. Consider the following: > data(freeny) > freeny.glm <- glm(y ~ offset(lag.quarterly.revenue) + price.index + income.level + market.potential, data=freeny, subset=1:30) > predict(freeny.glm) Qtr1

R-beta: R-0.62.3 is released
I have just put R-0.62.3.tgz and R-0.62.2-0.62.3.diff.gz into the FTP area at Auckland. As usual, do not fetch it from there unless absolutely urgent, because of the NZ Internet billing system. The files should get mirrored to the main CRAN site in Vienna tonight and the rest of CRAN within days. [And, may I add, the NZ connection is slower than a sloth in a tarpit. I had turnaround times of up

make check-all does not find DESCRIPTION for VR packages
When running make check-all on R-1.9.0beta (2004-03-31) built with pgf77/gcc/g++ on the Opteron (running SLES8), I get four warnings about not finding the DESCRIPTION files for the packages in the VR bundle; e.g., cannot open file `/u1/scratch/R-1.9.0/tests/Packages/VR/spatial/DESCRIPTION' Error in tools:::.checkPackageDepends(dir = "/u1/scratch/R-1.9.0/tests/Packages/VR/spatial")

Asterisk and FreeTDS 0.64 or >0.63
Hello all, just curious if anyone's successfully compiled (*) with the latest FreeTDS code/driver. The Makefile in (*) seems to only take care of 0.63 or older. I tried to muck around with it a bit into tricking to compile for not just 0.63 but anything later than 0.62 but it seems to crap out complaining about CDR modules, which I really don't need. It's been a while since I tried it

R 0.63 testers help: Please "(cd tests; make print-tests.Rout)"
R 0.63 only ------------ (0.62 does not have the print-tests.Rout.save against which to diff!) I'd be glad if some of you could help us find out some printing/formatting differences of the same R version on different architectures. I have the suspiscion that the new glibc aka libc-6 (Linux), has changed some of the internal printing/formatting code [fprintf ..]. One consequence is that

Dependency problem bug with r-cran-vr
Hi, I was trying to connect GRASS with R, following the guidelines described here: http://grass.osgeo.org/wiki/R_statistics The line in my /etc/apt/sources.list is like: deb http://ftp.iitm.ac.in/cran/bin/linux/debian squeeze-cran/ But when I tried to install r-cran-vr, I got an unmet dependency problem with r-cran-mass and r-cran-class. But these two packages were already installed. Then why

FYI: Problems while loading package "class (VR)"
Hi, Today, I performed automatic updates of packages and somehow lost "class" package. I loaded a library that depended on it and got: Error: package 'class' could not be loaded In addition: Warning message: there is no package called 'class' in: library(pkg, character.only = TRUE, logical = TRUE, lib.loc = lib.loc) I tried to load it by instal-package: class (VR) and
