R-beta: R-0.61.3 for Win95/NT available
I have just put on ftp://sirio.stat.unipd.it/pub/R a new version
of R for Win95/NT.
The main difference concerns dynamic linking (see below).
In addition, the binary distribution contains many of the
available packages (all the ones that I have installed on
my Unix machine).
In the afternoon, I will upload the files on CRAN.

R won't run under Win3.1 with win32s
I added win32s to Win 3.1 (actually
Windowns for Workgroups). When I start R
(from rsept31.zip) I get errno=120, the R
window with R console come up briefly,
print some info, and then quickly
disappears. As I mentioned in another
message, I'm able to run the same software
in a Win-OS/2 session on a different
computer. Why won't it run on an actual
Windows machine?

OK thanks
(I added main() {} as per FAQ and I got the dynload to build a dll ok)
I am also interested in building the R sources as per your descriptions.
To simplify things, I have removed b18 cygwin and have now installed
egcs-mingw32 with your djtools as recommended.
Everything seems to work OK; tools that

Executive summary: works well enough to use. Seems to require
midi, which isn't working on my laptop yet, so I have no idea
whether the sound works.
Individual problems:

win3.1 in wine & suse8.1
I'm new to wine and suse 8.1.
I d/l the most current wine version for suse8.1 = 200303.. and rpmed it.
I was surprised that wine was not updated with Yast but only directly
with rpm.-F ...
Does anybody you know why? I had tried it first and it seemed to work
but rpm -q showed the same date!
I now have doubts on all the other rpm patches/updates ...
The win3.1 program is special purpose

R-beta: windows and dynload.
I get an error:
Error in dyn.load(file) : unable to load shared library
"D:\R_CODA\RW0613\library\eda\libs\eda.dll"
with almost all the packages. I tried to use "require" and tried also to
copy the dll's to the bin directory and nothing helped.
Any ideas ?
Thanks for your efforts

wine-win3.1 program in SuSE8.2 - help
Help
I am not having much success getting the program to work and would
appreciate some pointers and suggestions for further tests.
I ran the program: wine accts.exe
from its program directory
without debug and got the following:
wine already configured, run 'winesetup' to reconfigure.
why is the above msg considering that wine would not run if it wasn't
configured?

GraphApp version 3
Hi, I'm the developer of GraphApp, which is a graphics and
user interface toolkit which I believe has been used
by your "R" package.
I don't know whether GraphApp is still used in "R", but
I thought you should know there is a new version of
GraphApp available (version 3) which is built around
a solid, portable core of graphics operations and is
independent of Motif,

Sv: R-beta: windows and dynload. ?Win98
It does, at least for a while. But when various more or less well behaved programs enter the scene (harddisk) things changed, at least for me. Reinstallation of R or windows didn't help, and I did not want to start again from scratch with a reformat. I used rw0613.

A problem of etiquette
Perhaps, the question is silly. But, I prefer asking it before making a
mistake.
I have just packed a binary distribution of R for Windows3.1/Win32s.
It is equivalent to the previous one for Win95/NT (R-0.61.3 +
many of the available packages) and it is compiled with egcs-mingw32
(GPL not a commercial compiler).
Now, in preparing the README, I put the following sentence:
