R-beta: R-0.61.3 released
I've just put up R-0.61.3.tgz and R-0.61.2-0.61.3.diff.gz for
anonymous FTP on ftp.stat.auckland.ac.nz.
As usual: Don't get it from there unless you are in a desperate hurry.
It will migrate to the CRAN sites within a day or two. (See the FAQ
for the list of CRAN sites. And see the footer for the FAQ location....)

R 1.7.1 beta is out
I've wrapped up the first beta release of 1.7.1. It is available on
http://cran.us.r-project.org/src/base/
Things are set up so that a new version should be generated every
morning at 7am local time (Wisconsin), until the day of the final
release. (And consequentially, although it will propagate to the rest
of CRAN, it will most likely be out of date by then, so do get it from

R-beta: New version available
A new version is available from
ftp.stat.auckland.ac.nz:/pub/R/R-0.61.tgz
and soon from CRAN mirrors everywhere.
As usual, there is at least one unfixed bug in the release, but this
time, we hope that we have set things up so that future bugfixes can
be released more or less immediately.
Merry Christmas!
The R core team.

R-beta: R-0.61.2 released
R-0.61.2.tgz is now available from the Auckland FTP site, from where
it should spread to the CRAN sites during the next day or two. Unless
you're in a big hurry or actually living in New Zealand, please don't
get it from Auckland.
There is also an R-0.61.1-0.61.2.diff.gz which can be used to patch an
existing R-0.61.1. Instructions for patching are in the VERSION file
in same directory.

R-beta: R-0.62.2 is released
I have just put R-0.62.2.tgz and R-0.62.1-0.62.2.diff.gz into the FTP
area at Auckland. As usual, do not fetch it from there unless
absolutely urgent, because of the NZ Internet billing system. The
files should get mirrored to the main CRAN site in Vienna tonight and
the rest of CRAN within days.
[This time I seem to have managed to get the release out on the same
date for all core team members

1.7.0 scheduled for April 16
We have now (actually a few days ago) declared a "Grand Feature
Freeze" on the development sourcs, meaning that we might still add
functionality and fix bugs, but we will not do any further major
changes.
It should be noted that there has been a couple of quite big changes
compared to the 1.6.x series, notably namespaces and the methods
package. Also, many more packages are now loaded

1.8.0 schedule
For the benefit of package maintainers (and others) we thought it
would be a good idea to publish the release schedule well ahead this
time. The plan follows below. Not everyone in R-core has had a chance
to complain, but I'm off to the ISI tomorrow, so I thought it had
better be done now.
Platform testing has been a major problem with the previous releases.
For some reason, people with

R-1.7.0 beta available
I've set up for daily distribution builds of the current development
version. These are available at
http://cran.us.r-project.org/src/base/
The current one is
R-1.7.0beta_2003-03-26.tar.gz
(and it's pretty useless to wait for them to be mirrored elsewhere...)
Notice that these are made using "make dist" (like the final release
will be) and thus they may have

Re: (PR#7826) ... segfault during build of 2.1.0 on RH9; print.POSIXct ...
Dear Peter,
Thank you very much for your kind and helpful reply.
As I mentioned in a followup email to r-bugs, indeed, one aspect of this
issue is a (user specified) shorter stack than that expected by R -- I
had only allowed 1 MB of stack space a long long time ago, and forgotten
about it.
Due to a glitch with r-bugs@r-project.org, I ended up submitting this
bug twice, and your original

R-beta: Bug tracking system
I'm happy to announce that there is now a real bug tracking system for
R.
Hopefully, this will make it easier for us to keep track of unresolved
bugs, which has been difficult because of the massive amount of email
that we receive.
The system, which is of the JitterBug variety is available through the
web at
http://r-bugs.biostat.ku.dk
or via email to
r-bugs at biostat.ku.dk (which is
