R-0.63.1 is released
I've put up R-0.63.1.tgz up for FTP from Auckland some minutes ago. As usual, don't get it from there unless you are desperate, but wait for it to be mirrored at a CRAN site near you within a day or two. For those who *are* desperate, I've left a copy in ftp://blueberry.kubism.ku.dk/pub/R-devel/R-0.63.1.tgz (Be gentle, that's my desktop PC!) The person who fetched R-0.63 *from

R-beta: CRAN goes HTML
Hi all, thanks help by Thomas Lumley (who provided us also with a beautiful logo!) I've finally made a start for an html frontend for CRAN. It should be available on all mirror sites tomorrow. The master site is at http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/R and the usual mirror sites are http://www.stat.unipg.it/pub/stat/statlib/R/CRAN/ (IASC archive, Italy) ftp://ftp.u-aizu.ac.jp/pub/lang/R/CRAN/

R-beta: New R Version for Unix
Version 0.60 of R for Unix is now available. Release of this version has been delayed for a variety of reasons, but we hope that it will provide a good deal more stability and functionality than previous versions. However it should be regarded as of "alpha" quality for a short shakedown period. We would like user feedback to help us improve the quality of R. You can do this by

CRAN downtimes
Hi, we had a broken heating system (in the floor above us) resulting in a water burst .... my office looks like if a bomb has exploded ... Currently our server is up and running again (it was down over the weekend) ... but we will move out of the devastated rooms and hence the CARN master might be down one or more times during the rest of the week. We'll try to keep the down times as short

Plot and lm
I want to make a log-log plot with a regression line, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. What I'm trying is: plot(mass,area, log="xy", pch=as.numeric(food)) abline(lm(mass~area)) or plot(mass,area, log="xy", pch=as.numeric(food)) islands$logmass <- log(mass) islands$logarea <- log(area) attach(islands) abline(lm(logmass~logarea)) But that does

R-beta: exchanging data between R/Splus and SPSS
Hi, is there any way to exchange (A LOT OF) data between SPPS and R/Splus, i.e., I want to get data from SPSS into R. It is a huge data frame with many columns being factors, so manual conversion is out of question (and there are more data to come). Exporting ASCII from SPSS seems to loose all level names, and the portable SPSS format doesn't look too nice. I've searched S-news and

Can R read data from stdin?
Is there anyway I can write a script which feed input datasource from stdin and let R process it (maybe frequency report) then output the report to stdout? I can't seem to find much info on documentation or FAQ on this topic. Thanks! dovecot quota-warning detection mail
Morikawa-san, Your conf is wrong. Should be: quota_warning = storage = 95 %% quota-warning 95 %u Your conf: quota_warning = storage = 95 %% quota-warning 95% u There's a space between % and u. First of all, try the above and let us know if it changes. Kouga -----Original Message----- From: ????? <morikawa-k6 at itec.hankyu-hanshin.co.jp> Sent: Wednesday, October 28, 2020

negative multinomial regression models
Hello, I''ve spent a lot of time during the past month trying to get negative multinomial regression models for clustered event counts as described in (Guang Guo. 1996. "Negative Multinomial Regression Models For Clustered Event Counts." Sociological Methodology 26: 113-132., abstract at http://depts.washington.edu/socmeth2/4abst96.htm) implemented in R. Can R work on very large of data?
Hello.. I am pretty new for R, but if I understand it correctly, when R read data by doing something like "d <- read.table("/dev/stdin")", it read entire data first then start processing.. Is there anyway I can tweak R around so that it will start processing as data comes and not load everthing on memory at once? The reason for this is because we have a case where
