Setting html breaks when using textile (redcloth)
Hello, I would like to enable html breaks when having newlines in my text rendered using textile/redcloth. I have found that a property names hard_breaks should be enabled but I''m not sure where (in which file). Anyone with a hint? :-) Greetings, Gitte Wange

Output text (not HTML) with RedCloth?
Is there a convenient way to output formatted text instead of HTML with RedCloth? Basically, it would need to fill in a few areas like - + Replace # with numbers for ordered lists + Indent for blockquotes and ordered/unordered list items + *bold* and _italics_ would look just like the original textile + Perhaps h1. h2. h3. etc would just be all caps? Dead easy Watir AND Selenium
Yesterday I added some Watir examples to RSpec''s svn. Today I added some Selenium (actually - Selenium Remote Control) examples. It''s dead easy to use both, and the Ruby code you end up writing is actually quite similar. Here''s a taste: == Watir == require File.dirname(__FILE__) + ''/rspec_watir'' context "Google''s search page" do

instiki markdown vs Redcloth
I installed instiki and it works great. The default setting is to use ''textile'' markup engine and I love it. I love that if I just put google.com then it is convereted into a link. I have another app where I use Redcloth. Here in order to a link I need to do this. "Google.com":http://google.com It''s my understanding that instiki is using Redcloth as

Extending Bluecloth/Redcloth
I''d like to extend bleucloth or redcloth to support custom tags, e.g. I want to use markup like this: [pubmed:18332676] which shall be extended to: <a href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18332676">Behav Pharmacol. 2008 Mar;19(2):121-128.</a> Does anyone know, if this is possible and has some hints how to do this?! RedCloth vs redcloth grrrrrrrrr !!!!!
Most other folks use lower case file names for their gems but not RedCloth and now it''s causing trouble. On my development machine Ubuntu 8.04, Rails 2.1.0 RedCloth (4.1.0 4.0.3) everything loads and runs just fine. On a new VPS (Ubuntu 64-bit) Rails 2.1.0 RedCloth 4.1.0, I can''t even start Mongrel and I get this error `gem_original_require'': no such file to load --

redcloth executable removed from gem?
Hello, I have the RedCloth 4.x gem installed on a new machine. I used to use the redcloth command line tool/executable ocassionally. Can anyone clarify if it''s still part of the RedCloth 4.x gem series? Thanks. PS: I checked the sources. And the executable source resides in bin [1]. However, checking the Rakefile that generates the gem package I can''t find any

RedCloth and Rails
Has anyone had any experience with RedCloth for rails. It is a textile system. I haven''t spot checked the code and was wondering if it caused any lockups or other issues. http://whytheluckystiff.net/ruby/redcloth/ -- Berlin Brown (ramaza3 on freenode) http://www.newspiritcompany.com also checkout alpha version of botverse: http://www.newspiritcompany.com:8086/universe_home

''dependencies'' and RedCloth
Hey gang. Jed noticed an issue with the ''dependency''/''dependencies'' macro the other day when working on the Collective wiki. Namely, if you make RedCloth a dependency Merb gets a little cranky. I think I have this figured out when doing some mods to Collective today too. However, before I go trying to fix this in Merb, I wanted to run this by the community.

Redcloth bug - Stack overflow in regexp matcher
Hi, I''ve been using the rassmalog static blogging engine and have encountered a stack overflow inside the redcloth regexp matcher. I don''t seem to suffer this error on my Ubuntu (Feisty Fawn) box (with Ruby 1.8.4??), but I do get it on my Gentoo system. Running the following line will generate it (I''ve attached the YAML/redcloth file to this message). $ ruby -ryaml

ignored blocks in redcloth
Hello Redclothians, In Redcloth, is there syntax to add something to a wiki block that is not parsed by redcloth? for example: $permission$ h2. title * blah * blah where $permission$ is ignored by redcloth, so it doesnt affect the rendering of wiki syntax -> html, but appears when you edit a page (perk for me would to also have it not appear in the rendered html). Why would anyone want

<pre> tag content now parsed by redcloth?
Hi, Thanks for all the help so far. I''ve almost got my site upgraded. A few more problems, which I''ll address in separate threads. So, I had <pre> tags in several places which contained code - yaml, ERB, etc. Previously, these were all ignored - passed through verbatim and not parsed by webgen. Now, they appear to be parsed. First, How should I do the equivalent of a

SVK failure trying to sync to redcloth trunk
Hi all, I''m seeing the following failure when trying to sync redcloth/trunk. I also get a 400 Bad Request error with the Eclipse SVN client. Google suggests a naughty proxy might be at work here... Tried curl - i -X OPTIONS, but didn''t see anything strange -- standard webdav enabled stuff. Any ideas? >> svk sync //redcloth/trunk Syncing

RedCloth repository moved to SVN
I''ve been getting increasing resistance from helpers who prefer Subversion over CVS. I feel that it''s slowing down development. So, done. Mailing lists, releases, news will still be at Rubyforge. Bug tracking will likely move to the new repository soon as well. The new repository is at: http://code.whytheluckystiff.net/ Checkout RedCloth from

redcloth gem ragel code doesn''t build in jruby
I tried to install RedCloth-3.274 in jruby (trunk) but the install failed when RedCloth tried to build the C code using mkmf: I forget whether SuperRedcloth ever did build in JRuby?? I know Hpricot (which also uses ragel which can compile to Java code) works in JRuby -- with the patch here: https://code.whytheluckystiff.net/hpricot/ticket/131) I might be confusing the two ... RedCloth in Rails documentation bug
It is trivial to get RedCloth to work in irb or script/console. But when I try to put code into a rails view or controller it complains that it doesn''t know what ''RedCloth.new'' is or how to ''require "redcloth"''. How do you tell rails to use RedCloth? Do you put something in config/environment.rb ? Blah, blah, blah .... Oh, of course! (45

RedCloth and lang specific hooks
Hi, I use textilize() which is a great way of letting end users edit contents. But the code in RedCloth is quite compact, and doesn''t allow for easily adding correct typographic behaviour depending on the lang of the text. For instance, correct quoting uses round double quotes in english and double carons ? ? in french; the spaces before punctuation can be corrected too. I''d
