Rails in a Windows World
I work at an organization that is very wrapped up in Microsoft products. I
am trying to get a test application put in however I''m not sure what to do
about the infratstructure. If it were up to me we would put in MySQL and
Apache or Lighty, however its not up to me. The easiest way to get an
application into production at our company would be to use the existing MS
SQL server and IIS

RoR meets .net *cringe*
It was a miserable failure for us. Your best bet is to run on Linux.

When it finally worked, after two weeks of trial and error (and we can''t
reproduce it again) it performs poorly under IIS. It looks

Anyone have Ruby for IIS installer?
Erwin:
We found it''s not worth the time to do this. It won''t work reliably.
You''re in for a world of hurt. We''ve given up on the idea after several
months of trying (and some great feedback from this list). There are
some on this list who claim to have gotten it to work, but that might
just be luck.
We''re now using Apache on a higher port, and using

Howtos: Deploying Rails on Windows servers
After a lot of work (and much promising) I have written instructions
on various methods to deploy Rails applications in a Windows
environment. For those of you who are not stuck with Windows, this
won''t matter too much to you, but I think this is really useful for
those in Windows shops.
Topics covered:
* Serving Multiple Rails Applications on Windows with Apache and
Mongrel

Getting database config info
Hi folks. I have a very small problem which is probably very simple. But
I''ve scoured the api and the rails book with no luck.
I''m trying to get information about the database definition out of active
record. When I go into console and say
ActiveRecord::Base.connection
I get a MysqlAdapter object, with an instance variable called @config that''s
a hash containing all

ruby on rails and Micro$oft environment support - IIS & ms sql
Hi everybody
At work we''ve finally convinced the chief to develop some small project
using open source technology.
Unfortunately we are deeply involved with Micro$oft technology.
That means, windows 2003 server, IIS, MS SQL 2005 and asp.
I was thinking about recommending ruby on rails instead of asp, but I''d like
to know how well it goes with IIS and MS SQL, because for the

Production environment for Rails on Win32, anyone interested for a binary release?
Hi all, as part of adopting Rails in my company I had to go through
the hassle of setting up a Rails production environment on Win32
system since we mostly use MS SQL as our database back end and also
because we mostly dealing with customers who become green-blue-purple
as soon as you mention Unix/Linux and run for the door.
I also need to mention that most of our web applications are internal

to be down:

Does anyone know anywhere else where this information can be found?

Mongrel Web Server 0.3.11 -- Edge Rails and Win32Compliant
I don''t think there''s a way to do that other than using a proxy
(ISAPI_REWRITE) or just a server-side redirect. I''d love to be proven
wrong though.

Code suggestions with Radrails .rhtml view files
anyone been successful with implementing code hints in the Views folder
with radrails in eclipses?
There is a tutorial out there that suggests you edit the jsp folder
(http://www.napcs.com/howto/railsonwindows.html#_Toc111133462)
but i think when you add rails, that jsp folder somehow disappears or
something. i don''t like that idea anyway, cause i don''t like jsp hints

Getters and setters problem?
Hi list,
first evening of playing with rails, so please forgive me if I ask
something stupid. ;-)
I created a User model and tried to use ActiveRecord callbacks to
convert the password to sha1 just before saving it. For some reason
postgresql gives me a error because the given password is null. To
test even further I tried to change :login too, same error happens,
:login is empty too.

IIS + Apache + Mongrel: Problem with big data submit form
Hi all,
I deployed a Rails application on a Windows Server 2003 machine as
follows:
+ I created two instances of Mongrel at ports 4001, 4002 to serve the
application
+ I set up an Apache instance at port 8080 for balancing load for the
two Mongrels => So I can access my website at URL http://mywebsite:8080/
+ I want to allow users access my website without typing port 8080 in
the URL.
