Spatiotemporal correlation function
Hi, I'm trying to compute  the spatiotemporal correlation matrix by using Delta Kronecker products of spatial and temporal correlation matrix  in R, but didn't find any delta Kronecker's operator in R. The operators in matrix such as multiplication, addition, eigen values/vector and etc is easily to find and used. Could someone help me, please? Cheers. Firdaus

pnbinom.c qnorm.c
Dear R users, I was wondering from where I could get the C source code to compute pnbinom() and qnorm() ? (I would use R in batch mode but I find the startup time prohibitive, unless there is a way to speed it up) I searched the Web and it clearly is part of the R distribution, I just don't know how to extract them. Thanking you ! Markus Loecher Princeton, NJ [[alternative HTML version

Modifying the design matrix X in GAMS to suit data assimilation
I have a data assimilation problem that might be amenable to the use of GAMS, but I am not sure how feasible it is to implement. I was told the R mailing list was a great resource. My observations are spatiotemporal salinity in the San Francisco Bay at a number of instruments over a few days. The thing that I want to fit is the initial condition for a salt transport model at the beginning of this

Hi all, I have a file of average SWE observations for 40 years at over 4,000 points and am attempting to do a spatiotemporal analysis of the data using PCA, much like this paper did using snow depth: http://journals.ametsoc.org/doi/pdf/10.1175/1520-0442%281998%29011%3C0856%3ATCIRWS%3E2.0.CO%3B2 I have followed the code in the link below by my loadings are far too small (For example, the paper

self organizing map advice for categorical data
Hello, Could anybody offer any advice about implementing a Kohonen self organizing map for categorical data? Specifically I am wondering if there are any pre-existent packages that can deal with categorical data and/or how one would compare the input vector of categoricals with the self organizing map nodes. Thanks in advance. George Chen ----- Original Message ----- From: r-help-request at
