Adding text to page margin with lattice graphics
R: 2.12.1 OS X Colleagues I am working with lattice graphics for the first time and I am confused by some aspects of controlling these graphics. The most pressing issue is the following: I can print the graphics without problems with the command: print(MYFUNCTION(SOMEOBJECT) However, I would like to add margin text (this terminology might not apply in this setting). I am able to do so with

Enabling preprocessing in Erubis makes views much faster
I wrote a 5 line hack that you can drop into your initializers directory to enable preprocessing in Erubis. This will run code in < %=== %> brackets at compile time making views considerably faster for rails helpers that only need to be evaluated once instead of on each render (the Erubis docs mention 20-40% speed increase but obviously it depends on the amount you precompile). For example:

Mongrel handler and root_handler
Hi I am writing my own handler and seeing some strance behavior. Best is describing by the following code say I create mongrel server (see at the end of the email) and have one handler for the root (so shoudl handle all request..) To my surprise the @a in the following code in the Handlder is not the object I expect but a hash containing the name {:a => <SomeObject Instance> }

Re: [R] Is there a way to deactivate partial matching in R?
Dear Prof. Ripley, Thank you for reminding me to the possibility to place the dots as first argument. If this is the solution against partial argument matching, we e.g. cannot safely define a plot method which gives a demo plot in case of no object (because we have to obey the class paramter conventions). plot.someobject <- function(x=NULL, ...) # another example would be paramter pairs

Chrony vd NTP
I have read: http://thegeekdiary.com/centos-rhel-7-chrony-vs-ntp-differences-between-ntpd-and-chronyd/ My server is up all the time and will serve time to internal systems (via DHCP options). Caveat is that my server is an armv7 (Cubieboard2) which does not have an RTC (no battery). So whenever the system boots, the time is ZERO (Dec 31, 1969 or some such). Chrony fixes this really fast;

virtio_blk BUG on detach-disk/attach-disk of mounted vd
Hi, I know this isn't a valid use case or generally sane thing to do, but we have a bug (link, with details, below) filed for a panic against a detach-disk/attach-disk sequence of an ext4 mounted vd device on a rhel kernel. The same sequence leads to the following BUG on an upstream kernel (3.7.0-rc5+ SMP x86_64 GNU/Linux): [ 75.114951] BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer

saving copy of template on puppetmaster
I am using puppet to manage files on the nodes with the ERB templates. Plain old standard. What I need to do is to get a copy of the generated (parsed) template file on the puppet master server. What I want to achieve is that I want to see the current version of the file as it is on the client, but on the server... I was going through the documentation but I didn''t find anything

rendering if template exists
Hi folks, I have a component on my site called RelatedController. I intend to put some links and content related with the current page (controller and action). What I want to do is for the time being is render :partial "#{@current_controller}_#{@current_action}" Then in the component template root I have templates like _products_index _products_cart etc. I have decided to put

Getting gem rdoc via ri?
Guys, I''m working with the new RadRails release (0.5.3), which has a very nifty inclusion of ri courtesy of RDT. Problem is, although I''ve generated rdoc for all installed gems with "gem rdoc --all", it''s not accessible through ri. I see some posts here and there about rimport...is this still the necessary way to incorporate the rails rdoc into ri?

How to install the RI doc into FXRI ?

query FXRuby by ri
Hi Don, Thanks for the tips. But it works on an old XP computer but NOT on the new Vista. I also notice that I can browse the classes from Fxruby when I use fxri or ri on the old computer. I see nothing about FxRuby''s stuff when I use fxri or ri on the new Vista. But I can use gem server to see the Rdoc about FxRuby''s classes on both computers. It looks Ruby doesn''t

Getting ri to include rdoc for my rails gems
I''ve installed Ruby 1.8.2 and Rails 1.0 on Windows XP and it''s working great. However, ri, doesn''t seem to know about any of the rdocs for the rails classes. For example if I run "ri --classes" none of the ActiveRecord classes are listed. What''s the correct way to get ri to include rails classes? Thanks, Todd -- Posted via
