! camping paid gigs
Oh, boy, this is great. Anyone here want to get paid for doing some camping work? Because O''Reilly is interested in doing a 20-30 page PDF on Camping. Please do it, guys. I won''t blab about how much it pays, but if it took you a couple days, you''d get back a hacka lot of moaney. Anyway, post your camping paid gigs, people. If we could have one guy in the world

+ camping/session
Camping now comes with a sessioning class, checked in tonight. To get sessions working for your application: 1. require ''camping/session'' 2. include Camping::Session in your application''s toplevel module. 3. In your application''s create method, add a call to Camping::Models::Schema.create_schema 4. Throughout your application, use the @state

! camping 1.5 + markaby 0.5
Not too different from their corresponding last releases, but documentation has been filled in for both. To upgrade: gem install camping --source code.whytheluckystiff.net And, here is a complete changelog: == Camping 1.5 * Camping::Apps stores an array of classes for all loaded apps. * bin/camping can be given a directory. Like: <tt>camping examples/</tt> * Console mode -- thank

Newline problem
Hello all, Recently I have started writing some small package apps. The main app I''m working on at the moment is Camping/Photos[1]. Here I use a controller to serve static files (Theme[3]) that I have copied from [2]. There seems a problem however, when using this via lighttpd. All files that get served (via photos-dispatch.rb) get an extra ''\r\n'' in front. This

[UHH] any blogs sprung from camping?
Hal Fulton has been e-mailing me about putting together a simple blogging package for Camping. Perhaps start with the blog in the examples and add a few things. Does anyone here want to collaborate with him? Or do any of you have your own works to offer? He''s mentioned he wants something with its own template syntax, but I think he could hack that in. _why

! camping 1.4.1.96
I''m just about ready to release 1.4.2. Here''s the pre-release: gem install camping --source code.whytheluckystiff.net The biggest recent change is that the Camping commandline tool now allows mounting of several apps. I''ve eliminated examples/serve and am encouraging use of the camping tool. Instead, use: camping examples/blog/blog.rb examples/tepee/tepee.rb

Save sessions on file system instead of database table?
Hi Is there a way to save session data on the file system (like in Rails) instead of a database table? The reason I''m asking is, that I''m writing a Camping application without using ActiveRecord (mostly for learning purposes) and I don''t want to use ActiveRecord just for sessions. Thanks, Thomas -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was

Cookie session handling?
Hi, I and a few folks on #camping thought it would be nice to have either cookie based or file based session handling. This would eliminate the need for creating a sessions table in the database (or a sequence), which feels too heavy for a lightweight framework like Camping anyway. Plus, we can more easily avoid nasty adapter errors. :) The general consensus was to create a separate

Rendering with erb
Hi, I thought it would be fun to try to write a render method that uses erb for rending. I''m not much of a programmer, but I still like to try: module Test require ''erb'' def render(m) ERB.new(IO.read("templates/layout.html")).result(binding) do ERB.new(IO.read("templates/#{m}.html")).result(binding) end end end This

Okay, I have tested mounting several of my apps under Lighttpd and Apache, both running FastCGI. I''m going to explain the configuration, but first: update. gem install camping --source code.whytheluckstiff.net == Mounting Root for Lighttpd+FastCGI == server.port = 3045 server.bind = "192.168.0.103" server.modules = (

intro
Hi !!! I''ve just seen this message on http://redhanded.hobix.com/inspect/theCampingServer.html I''d really like to see distributions offer a package which would allow simple setup of TheCampingServer, just as you see with PHP. If you''re interested in seeing this happen for the upcoming Camping 1.5 release, introduce yourself on the

+ migrations in camping
Camping apps are supposed to be little independent apps, often contained in a single file, which create the database tables and manage them without hassle. These days it''s common to see in a Camping app: module Tepee::Models def self.schema(&block) @@schema = block if block_given? @@schema end end Tepee::Models.schema do create_table :tepee_pages,

putting away HashWithIndifferentAccess
Hey, campineros. And many good handshakes to zimbatm for getting some patches applied. So, yeah, I''d really like to get rid of any serious dependancies with this 1.6 release. Anything that''s not in stdlib has to go. Of course, camping-omnibus will still assume the whole ActiveRecord, Markaby, Mongrel setup that''s in the history books. Metaid can be removed and

Overriding ServerError?
I''m getting ready to deploy a production app based on Camping, but have one little thing I want to iron out. Is it possible to override the ServerError class? I need custom 500''s to come up, and not the normal "Camping Problem!" page. I am trying to override, just like I do the NotFound class, but can''t seem to get it to take. I just get a blank page back

Mounting an app as ''/'' under Apache?
Hello everyone, I have a site with a collection of camping apps. I''m trying to force one of them, blog.rb, to run as the index (''/''). I think that I understand the RDoc as stating that I can execute the following to make that happen: Camping::FastCGI.serve File.expand_path(current), Blog But, when doing so, I recieve the following error: Camping

Postamble vs campingrc
Hi, Should I be able to use the Webrick postamble instead of using .campingrc, to tell Camping I want to use mysql? It doesn''t seem to be working for me. It does work however, when I''m using FastCGI (establish_connection :adapter => ''mysql''). James

ActiveSupport Dependency
Hi, Just wondering if ActiveSupport is actually used heavily by Camping when ActiveRecord is not used? I see ActiveSupport is a dependency of ActiveRecord, but Camping still wants it even when ActiveRecord isn''t used.

And now: gem install camping --source code.whytheluckystiff.net I hope this will be the last development release before 1.5. * ActiveRecord no longer required or installed. * If you refer to Models::Base, however, ActiveRecord will be loaded with autoload. (see lib/camping/db.rb) * new Camping::FastCGI.serve which will serve a whole directory of apps (see TheCampingServer[1]) *
