AR db adapter for a RDF database (ATT: DHH)
Hi people, As I stated in a earlier message, I am using Rails on my masters degree and soon I will have to port my application from a relational database (MySql) to a RDF semantic database called Sesame. At first, I thought that I could get away with most of the porting only by writing a decent database adapter, but then, examining AR closer, I could see that it has some strong dependencies

Content-Type: application/rdf+xml
Hi, I am trying to parse the response received from a rdf file using DOM. However, I am not able to get anything in the responseXML. It always returns null. Following is the content type I receive from the server. Content-Type: application/rdf+xml Can someone let me know how I can receive this as an xmlObj? Thanks in advance, Mandy. _______________________________________________

Using RDF/OWL with R?
Hello, Is there a convenient way to import RDF/OWL data into R? I'm interested in importing BioPAX/SBPAX data into R to make them available for a wider audience. One exciting application would be to use pathway data to explain differential microarray measurements by identifying upstream nodes that are likely involved in causing the differences. This could also be used to validate

Metadata & RDF
I'm very pleased to come across flac, good work folks! I would like advice and/or have a spec feature request. Please bear in mind that I am totally new to the format, apologies if what I describe has been discussed before. Basically I'd like to embed arbitrary (meta)data in flac files. For example, it may be about the audio, but then again it may be about the creator of the audio, or

RDF - Carmen?
I didn''t want to hijack Martin''s thread, but Carmen said a couple of interesting [original thread below]. Carmen - since you''ve switched off of SQL what do you use as you data- store? Have integrated AR? I''ve been seeing the world in 3+NF for more than 15 years now. Would you mind speaking to this topic a little, and if you''ve any rails

Finding an available port for server socket
I've written a Smalltalk application which starts R on another machine and then communicates with it via sockets. The functions involved are: slaveStart <- function(masterHost, masterPort){ inPort <- availablePort() sendSocket(as.character(inPort), masterHost, masterPort) socketSlave(inPort) } socketSlave <- function(inPort){ ## listens on inPort.

Smalltalk binding to R
Hi - any person interested in building a binding between Smalltalk and R, please contact myself or Hernan. This could be done as the Google Summer of Code (GSoC). http://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/homepage/google/gsoc2012 http://gsoc2012.esug.org/projects/r-statistics For those who don't know Smalltalk it is an Object Oriented language that was created back in the '80s in the Xerox

Code Shopping in Rails
Back in the horse-and-buggy days when I was cutting my OO eye teeth on Smalltalk, we had a LOT of conversations about the biggest problem dealing with a large and growing set of classes and methods in the Smalltalk image. It became clear that most, if not all, successful Smalltalk coders spent a lot of their time code-shopping, i.e., looking for a class or method that did something they

A use of RDF to extend register Remat
Dear Community, I would like to discuss few points to use RDF to extend register remat scope. Mr. Krzysztof and I have started discussion this on private mail. But I think now it would be better to include community. Interested community member kindly previous discussion (at the end of mail) before starting here. After analyzing if RDF can be used for solving Remat, we think that problem with

RDF Metadata Specification
I've put together the first attempt to defining an RDF metadata vocabulary for use with the CD Index/MusicBrainz/OggVorbis. If you care about metadata issues, please take a look at: http://www.cdindex.org/MM I've included a section for video specific stuff, but everything that I originally had in there is being covered by the MM:Contributors section. Why is there no Smalltalk-like IDE for Ruby?
I posted this to comp.lang.ruby and comp.lang.smalltalk, and my blog. I will likely get destroyed, but it will be worth it if at least one nugget of information helps the Ruby IDE makers. ----------------------------------------- Hi all -- I shout my question to the entire Ruby + Smalltalk community: Smalltalk has had amazing IDEs for decades, why not Ruby? Smalltalkers, Ruby needs your help!

Calling R_PreserveObject from embedded R
Hello. This is my first post to the list, so first I'd like to thank everybody for making and mantaining such a great product as R. I'm writting a native binding to R from Dolphin Smalltalk. I've followed up the examples of the documentation showing how to run R embedded, and I got it partially working. However, I have a problem with the reference handling of the R objects.

dabbleability
i like to call this attribute "dabbleability", in the sense that anyone without preconceptions or prerequisite skills (besides posessing a brain) can pick something up and create something with it..the dabble factor is influenced holistically by the intuitive easy of use and comfortability of a system''s underlying framework. this is why artists have traditionally used macs

Help Preparing Data for Heatmap creation
All - Below are samples of the data, a description of my approach and the work I've done so far. My goal is two-fold, first learn more about R and the creation of heatmaps; second, to create a heat map where the vertical access is a series of days and the horizontal is the hour of a day with the color of the cells being determined by the number of texts in that hour. While the project

Red Hat CEO: Go Ahead, Copy Our Software
http://www.businessinsider.com/red-hat-ceo-go-ahead-copy-our-software-2013-8 Title says is all. Nice to know RH understands and accepts the relationship between CentOS and RHEL. Although it is complex. After all, if too many choose CentOS, there may no longer be a CentOS. However, I don't think I would refer to CentOS as a "parasite" as the author Matt Asay does. Mocking Requests
Hi Guys! I just joined this list after James helped me out in ruby-talk to mock a http get request for a project I have running :) Now comes the second question... I was fiddling around, making the mocking with the get request work (which turned out to me pretty easy), but then I ran into another problem. I was faced with mocking the post request, so I thought I could do it the same way
