Problems Deploying a Camping app on TxD
So I''ve been trying all day to get a small camping app I wrote up on Textdrive to no avail. Right now I''m getting a 500 error when I go to the site, and it spits this out (from lightty after i restart it and make a request to the app): (eval):13:in `initialize'': undefined method `to_hash'' for #<FCGI::Stream:0x83a35d8> (NoMethodError) from

Lightty idle-timeout - does it work?
Rails 1.0 on RedHat with MySQL It seems that my app stops functioning overnight [actually I am assuming that it is after a period of inactivity]. Googling around for solutions, it seems that it might be an issue with timeouts on the MySQL session. A suggestion I found was to a) increase timeout on MySQL [don''t want to do that]; b) add idle-timeout parameter to Lightty. So I

Problems with RJS w/ Lighttpd & Ubuntu
I have my code working on my local machine no problem, but when I upload to the server the RJS effects I have aren''t working. The server is running Ubuntu Dapper w/ lighttpd while on my local machine I''m using webrick. For kicks I shut down lightty and booted my app on the server with webrick and it works fine. So it''s definitely a lightty issue. Anyone else seen

TextDrive complaints
Hi all, I have deployed my Ruby On Rails application on TextDrive. At first everything seamed to be fine. However, lately, response time of my application is incredible slow. Worse, lately there is also a lot of downtime. I have contacted their support desk, however, they do not respond (at all, or very, very late). Has anyone else these experiences with TextDrive? And if so, what did you do

Python binding and Xapian fields
Hi all, I have spent more than 3 hours trying to figure out how Xapian documents fields works ! It seems that I failed so I ask for help. I am using Xapian 0.9.2 with Python bindings and Xapwrap (Python wrapper for xapian) on Fedora Core 3. I have added custom fields like 'uri', 'title', etc and I wish to view them in my Omega results. I am also using an Omega XML customized

Ezra....allow_concurrency = false?
In a previous email you wrote this: Glad you''re getting some use out of the plugin ;) ActiveRecord does have some issues with threading and concurrency that can sometimes cause that error you are seeing. Open up your script/backgroundrb/ start file and comment out the following line: ActiveRecord::Base.allow_concurrency = true Make sure you do that up in your main app script folder

why is webrick running in development mode?
Hi, I changed my environmnet.rb to say PRODUCTION mode, however when I start up a server "ruby scripts/server" a) it runs in development mode (via the logs) - any ideas why? b) why does webbrick run - I thought by default now it was supposed to be lightty Tks -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Mongrel on Textdrive
As anyone deployed on Textdrive using Apache + Mongrel? If so did you just install the GEM locally? I have filed a support request with Textdrive querying when we will see the Mongrel GEMs installed but have received no response yet... Thanks! Rails apps and TextDrive
Hi, I was wondering, does anyone have experience with deploying rails application(s) on TextDrive. At this time, I''m only seeing an index page remotely but on my system, I would type the following and obtain the expected result: http://localhost:3000/visitor/list However, when I perform the same operation on textdrive, I''m getting the following message on the screen:

works with webrick,lighty, not mongrel
Hello, I''ve been working away to setup mongrel as my production server, however I am running into an odd problem and am not sure where to investigate for the answer. When I run using mongrel_rails start most things work fine, but a I get a few inexplicable undefined method errors, for example: undefined method `send_qbxml'' for #<Sync:0x2aaaafa7aa78> The method is

Anyone running a business hosting plan @ textdrive?
I currently run a handfull of sites on a MediaTemple VPS - which is blazing fast and very cheap for what I get. BUT installing rails and mysql v4 was a major pain in my ass, along with other things. I''m considering switching to a Textdrive business hosting plan but wanted to get some feedback from list members first. I pay about $200 a month quarterly for my MediaTemple service.

OpenSSL: SSL_CTX_new:: library has no ciphers
I''m trying to do a basic get or post operation using Net::HTTP in SSL mode. I''m on TextDrive, which runs ruby 1.8.2; however, I have the /net folder from ruby 1.8.4 in my /lib to support net/https, which doesn''t appear to be present in 1.8.2. http = Net::HTTP.new "www.beanstream.com", 443 http.use_ssl = true http.start {

Icecast embeddable ?
Hello all, I'm quit new to icecast, but I have project dealing with streaming (currently only audio) for web radio, and I would love to use the icecast protocol as it already has everything I need. But, In order to be usable for us, we need to be able to 'embed' the icecast server (in a dll or statically) in our program, and control it programatically. We need his to reconfigure the

Moving to ROR 2.0.2
Looking for any gotchas: Currently running ROR 1.2.3 want to move to 2.0.2. I see the recommendation to move to 1.2.6 fix the deprecations and then to 2.0.2, which I plan to do. I am currently running lightty with SCGI (zed shaw''s version 1.7) on both win and UNIX platforms without issue. I have looked at the new features and can iron all that out: - pagination as plug - adapters as

is shared hosting evil?
I moved a rails application to textdrive using their low-cost shared plan. Once on textdrive my app would display ''proxy errors'' periodically. Hitting reload seemed to be all that was needed to get past the proxy error. After discussions with their support people I decided the proxy errors were being caused by apache server restarts -- because there were many of us sharing one

"uninitialized constant Reloadable" error heads-up
I can''t duplicate this problem on my local machine, but also can''t find any mentions of it on the Gmane archive, so thought I''d just throw in a quick mention in case anyone else comes across it. On Textdrive, using gem rails 1.1, in an app that works fine on my local machine, I get the following error in my production.log: "uninitialized constant

Off-topic: Rails hosting
All, I''ve been looking switching hosting providers, and have been strongly considering TextDrive. Doing a little Googling turns up a fair number of complaints that seem to be centered around server performance, stability and uptime. Since I know a poorly written app can contribute to all of these, I thought I''d pose the question to all of you. Does anyone here host
