FreeMIS 1.0 Released
FreeMIS is an open source management information system for schools, built with Ruby on Rails. I haven''t come across any other big open source projects using Rails so far - if nothing else, the availability of the source code might be useful for learners looking for ideas? If anyone would be interested in helping to develop FreeMIS, please get in touch. Details here:

[OT] How to prepend copyright notices to each source file
Sorry for the off-topic post, but I guess someone else may hit the same issue.... Having developed a rails application, I now need to put GPL text and a copyright notice at the start of each source file. For the .rb files, this will look like: # Copyright 2006 Robert Jones........... and for the .rhtml files it will look like: <!-- Copyright 2006 Robert Jones......... Can anyone think of

Shibboleth
Can anyone direct me to a really good tutorial on Shibboleth integration with Rails, or indeed some sample code? I''ve been tearing my hair out all day on this one. Can BackgrounDrb help me?
I have a big report to produce from a Rails app that takes several minutes to put together. I hoped backgroundrb would be able to pull together all the ActiveRecord stuff in the background then throw it back to Rails for rendering. It seems, however, that I can''t pass an array of ActiveRecord objects from the worker back to Rails. Do I have that right? Another possibility was to do

FreeMIS Open Source Project - packaging advice needed
Hi. FreeMIS is about ready for a first release as a Ruby-on-Rails based application. I''m beginning to realise that there''s a lot of stuff to be installed before you can get even a WEBrick served version up and running: MySql, Ruby, ruby-mysql bindings, rubygems, rails, and a couple more gems - raspell (which needs aspell) and tzinfo. I''m trying to figure out the

Azure Sync
Hi, Something else that might be interesting: Azure AD Connect cloud provisioning. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/cloud-provisioning/what-is-cloud-provisioning It's something new, that I guess could be relevant for someone checking out Azure Sync options. Best Linux distibution for ruby on rails developement?
Hi, I am on Kanotix linux since the first distribution was released by Kano. However I am tired of the "if it can go wrong it will go wrong on Kanotix" pattern. Please recommend a distribution that by your experience is best for ruby on rails development and need no hour-long tweacks for even "simple" tasks. Thanks, Jan Martin -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

SQL passdb, LDAP userdb
Hi, in my current setup, LDAP authentication + userdb works fine. I'd like to integrate Dovecot with Shibboleth. I have a custom module at the IdP (*) that inserts short-time tokens to an SQL table at user authentication, and I want Dovecot to use the token table for passdb but keep LDAP for storing the userdb (uid, quota, etc) I thought it was simple as omitting the sql user_query, but I

Ruby on rail newbie
Hi everybody, sorry if the message does not have this place there. I''m a one-year experienced php developper. I use this language for all my web applications. I prefer php to Java/J2ee because, of its simple features, its powerness and the fact that it let the user choose the way he wants to program(This is particularly benefical when i''m prototyping) For me the

Asterisk authentication on LDAP (SSHA and SHA passwords)
hello guys, I'm working on a federal university at Brasil, we already have an openLdap with all users and this base is used to authenticate several services like email, vpn, wireless (RADIUS), and we have also Shibboleth providing SSO. During my studies of Asterisk, i see a lot of people talking about the incapacity of asterisk (more precisely because of SIP) to authenticate against a

per host/node ssl key cert info
Hi, Are people using puppet to store/deploy SSL key/cert info? My scenario is that I''ve got a bunch of nodes/hosts that are using Shibboleth with each host having its own SSL cert and key. I know I can ensure the relevant packages are installed and that the configs are consistent across said nodes, but I don''t know: A) If people are using puppet to store the certs/keys for

Hi all, I'm having issue with my Centos 5.1 /Xen installation. I'm having 2 dom0 running 2.6.18-53.1.4.el5xen (x86_64). These two dom0 are connected to a SAN. Eager loading ActiveRecord objects
I have a complex graph of ActiveRecord entities that I want to load with one big honkin'' join query to avoid ripple loading. It''s for a report. However :include doesn''t get me all the way there because I want to load parents of parents (or children of children). I don''t mind doing the SQL by hand but I''m not quite sure what to do to get the result
