Dovecot impatient with mysql?
Oh, that time is an exponential backoff on mysql not responding.
So where is the time dovecot waits before backing off configured?

Samba 4.5.2 debian jessie packages available for testing.
Hai,
I’ve created samba 4.5.2 packages for debian Jessie.
These need testing and if you up to it, there are found here.
http://downloads.van-belle.nl/samba4/
For the very impatient a simple installer script.
http://downloads.van-belle.nl/samba4/samba-4.5.2/samba-452-installer.sh
Only Debian Jessie amd64 and i386 are supported by these packages.
Are these good?

CentOS 8 updates
Hi
Is it my imagination/impatience, but I don't seem to have received any
updates to CentOS 8 recently.
I'm thinking particularly of firefox which was updated in CentOS 7 for a
critical security update.
Is there a backlog of CentOS 8 updates behind the 8.2 release?
I noticed on a few occasions that my local mirroring had picked up and
later deleted a lot of "tmp" files for

Inserting column in between -- "better" way?
Folks:
I consider my reply below rather clumsy: One has to keep track of
index numbers other than that which is inserted and must separately
change column names. Is there as "essentially better" way to do this,
either via base R or via an R package. I leave it to you to define
"essentially better."
Thanks.
Cheers,
Bert

In theory, the ones that have bugs associated with it, which is not
easy to find unless someone adds a comment with the XFAIL, which not
many people do.

happy with Samba
I wish to thank all those responsible for Samba and the web site, and
especially the person who compiled Samba for Irix 6.2. I do not have a
compiler on my machine yet, nor the knowledge to use one. I'll be installing
gcc soon to coincide with my class in C++.
I own a very small business with one SGI box and one PC, and Samba is a
great convenience. I installed the software with no problems,

Happy Birthday portable OpenSSH!
It was one year ago today that I released a patch to get OpenSSH
compiling on Linux. I had no idea just how much trouble releasing that
patch would get me into :)
Within days I was inundated with patches, improvements and portability
enhancements - contributions which have made portable OpenSSH the
success it is today.
So allow me to thank the current developers and all of you who have

openssh and kerb 1.4.1 not so happy together
Folks,
I seem to have a problem when I upgraded our kerberos from 1.3.1 to 1.4.1 (MIT
krb 5), all of a sudden I can't ssh as another user.
i.e.
ssh host
works but
ssh joe at host
doesn't work. Same with scp's.
I've tried recompiling ssh (even though the so-name of kerb libs didn't
change), but it didn't work, and still no go... I'm using openssh 3.9p1 on
