about PATH_INFO and FastCGI
in one of my recent email, I add .to_s to PATH_INFO in camping code. actually, this is probably very wrong. the problem is probably something like PATH_INFO does not exist when using FastCGI. I have not done all my homework, but so far what I found is lighttpd has a special option "broken-scriptfilename": breaks SCRIPT_FILENAME in a wat that PHP can extract PATH_INFO from it (default:

I''m looking at rails code for inspiration, but it''s a bit outside of my knowledge..... not sure what to do with a FCGI::Stream object ..... this is what rails do for CGI, I''m not sure if it works the same for

intro
Hi !!! I''ve just seen this message on http://redhanded.hobix.com/inspect/theCampingServer.html I''d really like to see distributions offer a package which would allow simple setup of TheCampingServer, just as you see with PHP. If you''re interested in seeing this happen for the upcoming Camping 1.5 release, introduce yourself on the

Multi Byte Strings
Hey guys, We''ve been talking about the multi-byte patch and I think it''s time to get feedback from you guys on a possible way forward. We can include ActiveSupport::Multibyte with rails 1.2, and update all of the relevant helpers to use the String#chars proxy. This will mean that none of the action view helpers will mangle multibyte strings. Similarly, if any Strings are being

multipart/form-data support for Camping Apache/FastCGI
sorry I broke it for mongrel, but the programmer who did the work for mongrel should not have much problem integrating the two I think. Apache/CGI is different and still will not work. I fuck around for a full day at the end of the day, I found Iowa another web framework and I try using their code but using Iowa::Request.new.read_multipart was more confusing than anything, although it helped me

Mousehole stuff
Hey everyone, I''m using mousehole for the first time today (love the artwork, btw) and I seem to be having problems with Camping and Markaby. When I go to the Apps page I get: Camping Problem! Rack, Camping 2.0++
=== 1. Camping on Rack === I''ve just finished rewriting Camping to use Rack in the "core". I got rid of (a little less) than 1kB in camping.rb and removed lots of un-necessary files (lib/server/*.rb, fastcgi.rb & mongrel.rb). bin/camping does now only provide WEBrick, Mongrel and console-support and should only be used in development. It uses Rack::ShowExceptions to catch

Camping and ruby2ruby
Hi everybody, I would like to use ruby2ruby in a caming project, but there seems to be an incompatibility with camping, ruby2ruby and markaby. Unfortunately I receive strange Markaby::InvalidXhtmlErrors. To demonstrate, that only combination of all three components causes the problem I added the following code. I relies on Markaby and ruby2ruby only and works fine (a.k.a. as expected).

Noob needs help installing backgroundrb on Windows XP
Hey Guys, In the readme for Backgroundrb it says that windows support has been depcreated for this version, but then it goes on to mention how to use it in Windows. So I''m not sure if it should be running on windows or not, so I''ll ask anyway. Also, I''m new to ruby and I''m also new to server administration, so I apologize if my questions are pretty

Dispatcher Issues
Should I be able to run this and get some meaningful output? I''m trying to convert my app to run with Apache2/CGI and I''ve got the snippet that the RoR book suggests. The app runs fine with WEBrick, but I''ve got to scale it a little bit. [root@ops cms]# ruby public/dispatch.fcgi

Still having config problems
Hi, Having completely failed to sort out my apache 500 error, I thought I would work through the "Rolling with Ruby on Rails" tutorial at http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2005/01/20/rails.html I am using webrick, not apache - and still getting 500 errors. When I get to page 4 where http://127.0.0.1:3000/recipe/new should give me a data entry screen, instead I get...

Increased memory requirements on 1.2
I just recently upgraded a rails app of mine to run on edge (and the 1-2-pre-release branch) and I noticed my fcgis required roughly 6-8MBs more memory after just a couple requests. For example, each fcgi on edge would start around 40MB and rise to ~46MBs after a couple requests. I downgraded my app back to 1.1.6 and each fcgi would start at around 33MBs and rise to ~38MB. As a result of the
